On this xp sp2 system, Word documents (2-500k) are very difficult to
edit from redirected folders. Even though the wireless connection
remains at 54 mb/s, The document scrolls at a snail's pace.

Only when actually editing a document, the source folder frequently
lists only the offline cache contents only and the client app locks
up. Otherwise, I can reliably scroll the redirected folder contents.

I am assuming that the strong signal report in the tray icon must mean
something. Does it not take into account interference?

The signal strength is only as reliable as the driver reporting it. Try
updating drivers.

To answer the question in the subject, I've used folder redirection over
wireless without problems. YMMV.

If you continue to experience problems and wireless is a big enough feature
that you don't want to lose it, you could try upgrading to a pre-N
deployment. That technology is far enough along now that the risk isn't
there the way it was in first gen products. I've done so on a few
progressive clients and they've been very happy with the results.

Nick,
is your AV McAfee?
If yes or no, try disable the AV and see if the Document access works
better.
I don't know about the Current version of McAfee
but I've seen McAfee try to scan Network files SO slow it makes them un
accessible.

If it goes away when you disable your AV, try Trend Micro, I haven't seen it
cause that issue.

Hey Russ, long time no see. I was just wondering about your disappearance
over the weekend.

I always disable network scanning on the AV - more trouble than it's worth
IMO.

I know I've been gone for month. (Microsoft Deleting all my posts.)
In fact they deleted 2 on Sunday but oh well it's getting better.)

I have to agree the Network Scan is ever kill especially assuming you have a
AV on the Server (Which you should anyway.)
