Hi

We have problem with one user that his emails are not being downloaded by
pop connector. We get the below message in event log;

Event Source: POP3 Connector
Event ID: 1029

Access was denied to the mailbox <mail.mydomian.co.uk> logging on as
<user@mydomian.co.uk>. Verify the password for the mailbox account, and try
again.

However when we login to isp webmail then user's credentials work fine. The
problem is with one user only the rest of them work fine. What could be the
problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks

Regards

Maybe the ISP blocked pop3 for that user? I've seen ISP's do this if the
mailbox gets too full or if they feel the account has been used for spam.
Yes, pop3 is used to retrieve emails, not send them, but many ISP's also
configure their SMTP servers to only allow sending after a successful pop3
authentication. Thus, if they feel that the account credentials have been
compromised or if the user has been abusing the account by sending spam,
disabling pop3 is the easiest way to prevent them from sending from the
ISP's SMTP server as well.

The event ID is pretty clear, you have an account issue. You should work
with the ISP to resolve it. I'd also recommend making plans to switch to
using Exchange to send and receive emails directly via SMTP. You'll be
happier, you won't have to deal with your ISP, and troubleshooting is
easier. Trust me. Make the move. Don't delay.

Hi Cliff

As I can login to webmail for the user from the same isp I suspect account
is OK.

Thanks

OK, it was case sensitivity. The user was defined at isp control panel with
a capital first letter.

Thanks
