Hi Carl,
First, I am sorry for the delayed response. Please understand the partner
managed newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals.
Our goal is to provide a one business day response to all posts.
For time critical issues (not business down), we encourage you to contact
CSS directly for more immediate assistance:
International Support (non-US/Canada):
http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx
US and Canada:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;OfferProPhone
Also I have spend time on downloading and analyzing the logs. Sorry again
for delayed response.
After review your logs, I would like to suggest that you run the following
batch file on problematic clients to reset BITS service and monitor whether
the problem still happens:
===================Reset.bat================
@echo off
rem Batch file to clear the BITS queued jobs:
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
Del /q "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat"
Del /q "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr1.dat
Rd /s /q "%Windir%\SoftwareDistribution\"
net start bits
net start wuauserv
wuauclt /detectnow
==========================================
If the problem resolved, you can deploy this batch file out by using group
policy. Or if the problem still persists, please try to run the following
tool on problematic client:
For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. You can receive
the tool from the following link. (Please choose "Receive Files from
Microsoft")
Workspace URL:

Hope it helps.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Have a nice day :

| Hello Customer,
|
| Thank you for your post and thanks for Duncan's great help.
| My name is Gary Wang, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this
issue!
| Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
| understand it, the issue is:
|
| You met the following error on SBS server with WSUS 3.0 SP1 when deploy
| updates to Windows XP SP3 clients:
|
| Source: Windows Server Update Services
| Event ID: 13002
| Total Occurrences: 4*
| Message: Client computers are installing updates with a higher than 25
| percent failure rate. This is not normal.
|
|
| If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.
|
| Suggestion :
| ==============
|
| This issue may due to some updates installation failed on clients.
However,
| we may need more information to determine the exact problematic update.
|
| Please help me collect some information for further investigation:
|
| 1. Please help to capture a screenshot of the exact symptom when the
error
| occurs, save it to *.jpg files and send to me.
| 2. Gather WSUS MPS Report and send to me.
|
| a. Please download the MPSRPT_SUS.EXE from the following link and then
run
| this tool to gather some information from the problematic server:
|
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
| 15706/MPSRPT_SUS.EXE
|
| b. Double-click on the MPSRPT_SUS.EXE file.
| [Note] This process may take some time; however, it will not have a
| negative effect on the performance.
|
| c. A CAB file will be generated in the
| %SystemRoot%\MPSReports\MSUS\Bin\Reports\Cab directory called
| %COMPUTERNAME%_MPSRPT_SUS.CAB. The CAB file will contain the reports
| generated by the MPS Reporting Tool.
