Hi,

Strange problem with a user's new HP Vista laptop. It wonâ??t save his profile
in the users folder when he logs off. Basically you can log on as him, works
fine (although his profile is slower than others) if he tries to save
something it works until you log off. When you log on again it clears all the
settings including changes to favourites, saved documents etc.

Works fine on administrator and other user profiles. Tried to remove his
user profile folder, no traces of it though in the registry, still no joy.

SBS 2003 Std server

Thanks in advance,

Lyj

Is SBS fully patched?

Yes. SBS SP2, fully updated.

Previous XP laptop worked fine. It seems to be setting up a temp user
profile for this person everytime they log on.

Does the user have a roaming profile defined in AD?

Hi,

No he doesn't. Very boring standard SBS user account creation.

Hrm, then don't yank the profile folder. Delete the profile via the profile
manager in the computer control panel. Probably some leftover cruft there.
At any rate, the event log on the machine should be pretty helpful with an
error.

Hi,

The profile didn't exist in the profile manager otherwise I would have done
it this way.

I will check for the updates on the Vista laptop.

Thanks,

Turns out that none of the above solutions worked. However I worked it out by
removing the domain guests group from the user's profile.
