I keep getting these emails. Sometimes it comes in groups of about 40 to 50.
Norton Corporate Edition is installed on my server and clients and my virus
definitions are up to date. I have scanned and found nothing. I also have
Symantec Mail Security for MS Exchange installed on my SBS server. Called
Symantec and they say someone has my email address and is using it, but there
is nothing I can do about it. Sure there has got to be someway to stop all
of these messages. There is about 25 employees here and about 6 have already
had this problem. I have Spy Sweeper installed on my desktop and it could
not find anything also. Any ideas would help.
Thanks,
Allen

I know there is a way to stop NDRs. Only problem is it stops ligitimate
emails NDR's also. If I stop NDRs, is there a way to deliver them to one
email address. Mine.

This is happening to everyone - there's really nothing you can do other than
delete them, unless your Symantec software has some option to quarantine
(I'd be worried that you would no longer be receiving NDRs to legit mail you
tried to send, though). Spoofing is a sad fact of life.

Really? From all the other SMTP servers on the Internet? Cool! How?

Stopping your server from sending NDRs is a cinch - but is not relevant here
at all.

Blocking the inbound NDRs you're receiving from the rest of the world could
be accomplished via your spamfiltering software, I suppose. But that isn't
the answer either - you will never see any NDRs to mail you tried to send,
which sounds like a bad thing to me.

About the only thing you can do that will even remotely help is to set up an
SPF record with a hard-fail mechanism at the end. That way, email servers
receiving the spoofed email MAY check SPF records, and if they do, they
would drop the connection.
