Iâ??m not able to Sync a Motorola Q9c Windows Mobile 6 phone with a Windows SBS
2003 Exchange Server Standard edition to get email. I keep getting prompts
for the user password on the device. I checked the server security log and
there are several 529 events, invalid user name or password.

The server has Service Pack 2 appliedfor both windows SBS 2003 and Exchange.
I have installed the third party serverâ??s certificate on the mobile device. I
have checked the firewall settings on the client computer and they are
correct. The phone can retrieve email by remoting in through the Internet
using OWA (mail.domain.com/exchange). Any suggestions?

Make sure you are setting up the username as domain\username and make sure
you have the password correct, including punctuation. I've set up several
moto q9ms and q9cs and had problems with the users doing bad data entry.
The barrel keys are just tiny enough to throw people off.

I'll disagree with Cliff here regarding the need to do =
domainname\username
The 9c is a sprint phone, very nice, one of my customers has one.
Have you gone through the set up on the phone to connect to Exchange and =
tried "unchecking" the box for https:// requirement

If that works...then its still a cert issue on the device

Hmm...the https thing could be a good call, but I don't think I buy into =
it being a cert issue. My experience with Moto phones has been that a =
certificate issue will represent itself as a specific cert error =
(80010014 as I recall, but it has been awhile.) It doesn't throw =
username/password credential errors. =20
