Hello Customer,
Thank you for your post.
My name is Gary Wang, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this issue!
Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:
On your SBS server, the Information Store and Microsoft Firewall Service
will not start when reboot.
If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.
Suggestion :
==============
If the Microsoft Firewall Service stop working, you will lose all the
connections. However, this issue may due to various reasons. We may need
more information to narrow down the root cause.
By the way, let's focus on for ISA failure issue at first. Then let's
continue to trouble shoot the Information Store issue after resolved ISA
issue.
I would like to suggest that you check the following steps before we go
further:
1. Let's perform a Clean Boot. A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any
programs that are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with
other device drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.
1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE. (MSCONFIG is a built-in tool for Windows XP\2003
systems.)
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All". Please note that the Exchange services could be marked as
non-Microsoft. Please do not disable those services.
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer. Does the problem still persist?
If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to
one application or service we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG tool
again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.
2. Apply the newest ISA service pack.

3. Check the following document.
After you enable compression for HTTP content in ISA Server 2004 with
Service Pack 2, the Microsoft Firewall service may randomly stop responding
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;924404
4. Re-run CEICW as below:

If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
Information Need
==============
1. Please help to capture a screenshot of the exact symptom when the error
occurs, save it to *.jpg files and send to me.
2. Can you start the services manually? If not, what error you will have?
3. Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me.
My email address is v-gzwang@microsoft.com
I look forward to your reply. Also, if you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to let me know. I am happy to help. :-)
Thank you for your time and cooperation!
Best regards,
Gary Wang(MSFT)

| Yes it is SBS 2003 Premium and yes it is ISA 2004. I guess from now i
should
| apply updates to the server manually. Is there something wrong with my
setup
| that some services do not start or is my system difficient or is it one
of
