Server woudn't boot saying some files missing need to run repair.

I've repaired it using disk 1.

When I re-boot the server asks for Exchange CD - do I need to do this ??
I also notice all the Event logs have gone so I can't try and find out what
caused the probelm

Trying make a Ghost so I can "Play" with a copy - I get an error
Ran chkdsk - in case an corruption - none found

I'm not happy with this "Recovery"

I'm think of doing this: (there are only 12 users)

Copy Data files to another HDD
Shutdown Exchange
Copy ExchSrvr folder HDD

Install a new copy using the same server name / domain name

Setup users - with same name as before
Stop Exchange
Copy ALL the data back

Do I need to do anything else ???

Will this work??

I have seen this suggested by MTV's in the past....
