Our Server Usage Reports have stopped providing the 'E-mail Sent' & 'E-mail
Received' Data. Each of these portions of the report indicated 'There is no
data available for this statistic'. I have read a couple of other posts which
included steps such as recreating the report & rerunning ceicw. However, none
of these items have helped.

RE: Server Usage Report - Email Data not available by v-gzwang

Hello,

Thank you for your post.
My name is Gary Wang, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this issue!
Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:

From your description, I know that when you open the Server Usage Report,
you see "There is no data available for this statistic." under the section
of the 'E-mail Sent' & 'E-mail Received' usage.

If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.

Suggestion :
==============

Step 1:

The information about e-mail usage is collected from the Exchange message
tracking log files. On the SBS server, click Start, click Run, type
"\\localhost\<servername>.log" (without the quotation marks) and click OK.
Are there any log files in the shared folder?

Ensure message tracking is enabled:

A. Start Exchange System Manager.
B. Expand Servers, right-click <ServerName>, and then click "Properties".
C. On the "General" tab, is the option "Enable message tracking" checked?

Step 2:

Recompile the MOF files for exchange as following:

1. Run the following commands from a command prompt in the
Windows\System32\Wbem directory:

mofcomp.exe -class:forceupdate C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM\exmgmt.mof
mofcomp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM\exwmi.mof
mofcomp.exe -n:root\cimv2\applications\exchange
"c:\windows\system32\wbem\wbemcons.mof"
mofcomp.exe -n:root\cimv2\applications\exchange
"c:\windows\system32\wbem\smtpcons.mof"
mofcomp.exe -n:root\cimv2\applications\exchange
"c:\windows\system32\wbem\msgtrk.mof"

2. Open services.msc, then find Windows Management Instrumentation service
and the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service. Right click them,
choose All Tasks>Restart.

Step 3:

This issue occurs when you don't have SQL MSDE 2000 SP4 installed. Please
check if you can see the following folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server SP4. If you can only see C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server,
please follow the steps below to install SQL MSDE 2000 SP4.

1. Download the package:

SQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&p=6&SrcDisplayLang=en&Src
CategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=8E2DFC8D-C20E-4446-99A9-B7F0213F8BC5&u=http%3a%2f%2f
download.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2f1%2fb%2fd%2f1bdf5b78-584e-4de0-b36f-c44e
06b0d2a3%2fSQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE

2. Double click the package and specify a folder for it to extract files
(such as C:\SQLSP4).
3. Open MCD prompt and go to C:\SQLSP4\MSDE.
4. Run the following command to start setup:

Setup /upgradesp sqlrun BLANKSAPWD=1 INSTANCENAME=SBSMonitoring
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=1 /L*v "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs\Monitoring_MSDE.Log"
REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn

5. After the setup, please check whether the problem persists.

Step 4:

The issue may be caused by corrupt SQL database. You may like to reset the
SQL database for monitoring component by rerun Setup Monitoring Reports and
Alerts then rerun CEICW. For detailed steps, please refer to the following
KB article:

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us

Considering you have tried this step, I just want to notice you that after
doing these steps, the health monitor will be reconfigured and the SQL
database will be reset. The original performance and usage data will be
removed. The server will start to collect new counter value from the
beginning. It will take more than 24 hours so that the report can be
generated. Then please test to see if the issue resolved.

Step 5:

This issue may be caused by the corrupt Monitoring component. If above
methods are not working, please try that reinstall SBS Monitoring Component
as below:

- Uninstall the SBS Monitoring component

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Select Windows Small Business Server 2003 and then click Change/Remove.
The Setup Wizard appears.
3. Click Next to start the wizard.
4. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.
5. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, change Server
Tools to Maintenance, change Monitoring component to Remove, and then click
Next.
6. On the Component Summary page, click Next.
7. Click Finish.

- Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SBSMONITORING)

In Add or Remove Programs, select Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine
(SBSMONITORING) and then click Remove. A dialog box appears. To confirm
that you want to remove, click Yes.

- Delete Registry Keys
1. Delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Monitoring
2. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL
Server\SBSMONITORING

- Delete IIS Virtual Directory
1. Open IIS, expand servername, Web Sites, Default Web Site
2. Delete Monitoring

- Rename Folders

1. Rename C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING to
MSSQL$SBSMONITORING.OLD
2. Rename C:\inetpub\monitoring to monitoring.old

- Install the Monitoring component
1. In Add or Remove Programs, select Windows Small Business Server 2003 and
then click Change/Remove. The Setup Wizard appears.
2. Click Next.
3. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.
4. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, change Server
Tools to Maintenance, change Monitoring component to Install, and then
click Next.
5. On the Logon Information page, click Next.
6. On the Component Summary page, click Next.
7. Click Finish.

If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:

Information Need
==============
1. Can you see data of the other sections such as Web Activity by Computer?
2. What important change did you make before the issue first occurred?
3. Check event viewer for related information, if there are any, please
help save it to *.evt and send to me at v-gzwang@microsoft.com.
4. Please send me the MSSBSSSR.log and the DBAccess.log in the
%SBSProgramDir%\Support folder.

I look forward to your reply. Also, if you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to let me know. I am happy to help. :-)

Thank you for your time and cooperation!

Best regards,

Gary Wang(MSFT)

Mr. Wang,

Thanks for your time!

Step 1: 1: Yes there are logs in the folder
Step 1: 2: Yes Message Tracking is on

Step 2: 1: Files have been recompiled per your directions
Step 2: 2: Services Restarted per your directions

Step 3: Yes, SQL SP4 is installed

I assume that I should observer before I proceed to step 4, correct? How
long before I should see data in the reports if the recompilation worked?

Thanks again.
