    - "hide from exchange address lists" doesn't seem to work (or am I Looking at my Outlook client I noticed that the Administrator account was appearing and since we don't use it, I wanted to get it out of the address list. I went into Server Management and selected "Hide from Exchange address lists" under exchange advanced for the administrator account. Administrator still appears in the address list.     - Strange Problem with .jpg Files on XP Clients I have an SBS 2003 R2 Prem server with 10 XP clients. On each of these clients when they try and open any type of .jpg file (either through Outlook attachment or save to local disk then open) they get an error message indicating a corrupted file. I have tried this with Paintbrush, Picture and Fax Viewer and Office's viewer. Now normally I would say it's just a corrupted .jpg file BUT when I try and open this file on any computer that is not part of THAT SBS setup it opens fine. In addition it's not just 1 .jpg file but any .jpg file. I would say this is not an SBS issue but this happens with every computer just on that SBS network. This is strange.     - Cannot Connect via remote desktop Hi Guys, I had setup remote access to our server and all has been working fine. Recently however, I can not connect and keep getting the following error message:> This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again.If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator. I have re-run the internet connection wizard and still have no luck. If I try to connect via RWW and enter the url, this cannot resolve the url and keep getting error page.     - using SBS's backup features for a full server restore... In reading about the backup services in SBS 2003 and I want some clarification before I trust my data to it. Mainly I'm concerned about a full server restore in the event of a drive failure. Documentation says that In order to restore server you must first install SBS 2003 and SP1 if you've applied it to the server you backed up (I have). At this point I think we've all applied SP1, but my question is that do I have to go further than that? What about all the other SP's and updates that have come along? Is it as simple as (well not simple, it's quite a list), Install SBS 2003 from CD Install SP1 Run restore get server back? I've seen specific documentation on what exactly to do, but other than getting disk drivers and SP1 running, will that be sufficient to restore a server from a backup? I've tried a few other backup solutions and they are pretty extensive and a lot more than what I'm looking for, a simple backup like what is in SBS is good enough for me. No need for tape library mgmt, backup set mgmt etc, just give me a file or files that I can take off-site and I'd be happy. Just wanting to know how hard it is to actually get full server restores from SBS backup. I've read posts from others that have been sucessful.     - Denied Connection - Help! Hi All, One workstation in the entire office of 30 computers gets disconnected from the network randomly....some weeks there is no problem, then suddenly it cannot make a connection back to the server. When I check the ISA logs, I get the follow Denied Connection errors: Denied Connection SERVER 5/9/2008 11:04:21 AM Log type: Firewall service Status: A TCP packet was rejected because it has an invalid sequence number or an invalid acknowledgement number.     - How can I kick off exchange maintenance? I'm testing my non-production exchange mailbox and just imported a large number of messages into an outlook client which subsequently sent them to exchage. I've removed them from the outlook client, but I'd like to see them removed from the exchange store as well. I'm assuming since they've been deleted they are sitting in the DB waiting for some maintenance task to come along and remove them.     - Sync Mobile with Exchange Not Working Iâ??m not able to Sync a Motorola Q9c Windows Mobile 6 phone with a Windows SBS 2003 Exchange Server Standard edition to get email. I keep getting prompts for the user password on the device. I checked the server security log and there are several 529 events, invalid user name or password. The server has Service Pack 2 appliedfor both windows SBS 2003 and Exchange. I have installed the third party serverâ??s certificate on the mobile device. I have checked the firewall settings on the client computer and they are correct. The phone can retrieve email by remoting in through the Internet using OWA (mail.domain.com/exchange).     - SBS2003 Exchange setup Greetings, I am having one hell of a time getting Exchange secured. No matter what I do (it seems), I can not keep spammers from connecting to Exchange. I have tested for an open relay at several sites and I pass with flying colors, but when I look under Default SMTP Virtual Server > Current Sessions, there are always spammers connected. I also get this in the server report: smtpsvc 402 5/8/2008 12:15 PM 13 * Virtual Server 1: 77.241.36.5 maximum number of connections has been reached. Connection being closed. I did drop the maximum connections allowed down to 10 until i get this resolved, so that might explain that error. The odd part is that i can't find the mail that they are sending out by going to Message Tracking Center. It looks like we (authorized users) are the only ones sending mail.     - VSS error 0x8004230f We have an error on the Shadow Copies tab of all partitions on a Small Business Server 2003 (SP1), the error shows an error code 0x8004230f.     - Vista user profile issue Hi, Strange problem with a user's new HP Vista laptop. It wonâ??t save his profile in the users folder when he logs off. Basically you can log on as him, works fine (although his profile is slower than others) if he tries to save something it works until you log off. When you log on again it clears all the settings including changes to favourites, saved documents etc. Works fine on administrator and other user profiles.     - Pre Purchase Questions and WSS Hi, I want to create an intranet for an existing smallish network and I understand SBS comes with WSS which is a good tool for making an intranet/document store. I have purchased a blank server with no OS. 1. How would SBS 2003 standard edition be with 50 per machine licenses? 2.     - Sharepoint Companyweb database - moving to another server Hi, We have a customer with an extensive sharepoint/Companyweb database setup on their SBS 2003 server. The guy that set it up and looked after it has now left the company along with some other people. The company are now having a new SBS 2003 server installed and want this setup from scratch as their is a lot of history on the old server. ..but they do want to keep on using the Sharepoint/Companyweb so they want this tramsferred to the new SBS 2003 server.     - RWW top domian 403 error Hi All, To get SLL and push email to work, I changed a lot in IIS, and have mucked up the initial RWW screen. My computer is on the internet via an address (lets say www.mycomputer.co.uk).     - My Network Places When I try and view my network from My Network Places> Entire Network> Microsoft Windows Network > My Local Domain, on my SBS 2003 R2 machine, using the built-in administrator account I get the following message: "MyLocalDomain is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available" There is nothing in the event logs that indicates a problem. The SBS Best Practice Analyzer tool says everything is fine.     - sbs not holding a static ip address Weird problem. We have a SBS R2 Dell PE1900 server with a Broadcom gig NIC and it is not holding a static ip address We can go into the network settings for the local area connection, enter the static ip along with netmask and gateway . We put the server ip address in as the DNS. Press ok and ok, and expect it to be done and static. Go back in and both round buttons are set for Automatically Obtain !! If we try to run the EICW wizard it says we cannot because we have a dynamic ip address. So we set it again, and the wizard will run. But it still says dynamic. Thanks for any suggestions. We do not want to install another network card and I am afraid to uninstall the drivers to reinstall them since it is the AD controller and I do not want to break anything AD .     - Exporting a Certificate from SBS I have been trying to get my wireless network going for sometime now. I have my machines authenticating with keys using EAP-TLS. Everything was going smoothly until I had to configure a wireless scanner using Windows CE I have found a guide that shows me what to do to get my cert installed on the handheld... I think : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms897760.aspx But I have also read that you can simply move the cert over to the device via activesync and then install from the handheld. My only worry is that I cant seem to get a certificate that isnt tied to a computer. I have the option to export the cert for computer and user but say is i get it off the pc called TEST then it has the machine name appened to the cert. The same is for the user only of course the domain user is specified.     - xp Shares and server 2003 sbs Xp home and share , I know this has been talked about and the real answer is migrate clients to Pro, but not really an option at this point. Hope someone can help - I know that Win Xp home cannot Join A/D, but it can be setup so that file sharing on the Server can be accessed. Done it before (Things I've done so far to try and connect to the shared folder on the server) I've changed the XPhome workgroup name as advised, to the same as the Server's domain name - I've also created a new user in the A/D with the same UN/PW as the XP home Pc. The XP home Pc can ping the server and after reeboot can now see the server icon in my network places, but when trying to access I'm getting a error {Server is not accessible. you may not have permission to use this network ETC:-} The server is setup for DNS / Active Directory / File server & Routing and remote access.     - Employee retired - stopping e-mail Hi, What is the proper way to bounce e-mail coming in for a certain employee who has left the company? We have a lady whose only work e-mail was internal to the company, but she gets tons of spam (i.e. careerbuilder alerts, weather updates, etc). She recently retired, and I disabled her account, but I think e-mail to her is still hitting the server, and I would like to bounce it before coming into my SBS/Exchange server.     - CCTV and SBS and Windows XP Pro and user vs Admin login, can't enable user to download ActiveX CCTV file. Dear group, I'm having a problem with enabling the CCTV on a desktop and I think it might be to do with SBS user permissions. When I log onto the pc as the user I cannot install the ActiveX file, downloaded automatically from the CCTV box. But when I login as Administrator then I can download and install it. The CCTV software is on the device, I go to it's IP address using the web browser, and the ActiveX software is installed. But before it will install I have to lower the security settings in IE and add the CCTV box as a Trusted Site. Then it installs, but only when Admin. In case this makes a difference, this is what I have to do as Admin to install it: I have to lower the security settings to Low, as well as add it as a Trusted Site (untick the HTTPS button). And I need to enable the remaining ActiveX options in Custom Level. Then it will install if I am Administrator, but not if I am a user (mobile/power user). 2 files are downloaded, they get installed, and it works like a dream.     - Rights management in Exchange Hi, We have SBS 2003 standard SP2 with SharePoint 3.0. We have published a certain SharePoint website externally and we want to create user accounts for outside consultants, which we want to restrict to using that specific website and nothing else. What's your advice to accomplish that? I am obviously worried about inadvertently opening doors to the server. Here is what I did: - I created a specific security group called, say, "SharePoint" - I have used that group to deny access to all shared folders on the server. That's tested, it works. - The problem is with our public folders in Exchange: I have trouble denying access to that security group, either directly through Outlook (after logging in as Administrator: the folders themselves in Outlook appear to access only users, not groups) or in Exchange Management itself (I was able to add denial of access under folders/public folders, but then a simple test showed that SharePoint security group members are able to access our public folders ! -- this I clearly don't undertand - I am also worried about VPN or other loopholes I might be forgetting. Faxes are coming in OK and are visible in the INBOX and can be manually right clicked / send to / mail recipient etc. I found the instructions below from Mariette Knap [MVP] while searching and have run through it using Method A and checking the settings with method B. (The only difference was #4 where I am not putting a copy in a Document Lib. and never did.) All thoughts welcomed. Jonathan Jackson JCS Verify that automatic routing is enabled for email and Sharepoint. There are two ways to do this (A. Run the Configure Fax wizard or B. Check it Manually). I will provide steps for both. A. Run the Configure Fax wizard 1. Open the Server Management Console. 2. Click the To Do List. 3. Click the Configure Fax link. 4. Run the wizard. a. Make sure the "Route through E-mail" method is checked and that a valid email address is specified. b. Make sure the "Store in a document library" method is checked and that a valid document library is specified. 5. Finish the wizard. B. Verify Fax Routing is Enabled and Configured. Enable E-mail Receipt 1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, point to Fax, and then click "Fax Service Manager". 2.     - slow boot when plugged into my network Iâ??m not sure if this is an SBS is issue, but I just want to make sure, so here goes... Can SBS cause slow booting for computers that are part of the domainâ?¦or none domain pc's for that matter? ...here is the issue I have a couple PCâ??s that boot slowly during the windows loading process. Once the device is logged in everything is normal but during the loading of windows it takes a long time (3-4) minutes for windows to load before you get to the login screen. I think that this has something to do w/ SBS because it will only happen when the devise is plugged into my work Ethernet cable. Unplug it and booting is fast 30-45 seconds and youâ??re logged in, profile loaded. It's like it has to timeout and then load from cache, perhaps this isn't an SBS related issue. Also, this only happens on a 1 or 2 of the 24 computers in this office.     - Connecting to XP sp2 machines by VPN I have Win 2003SBS and several Win XP sp2 standalone remote machines. I need to collect simple files from the XP machines using the 2003SBS and the internet on a daily basis. I have set XP machines as VPN servers I can connect to these machines from the 2003SBS by VPN no problem My problem is this. When I try to map a drive in 2003SBS to the shared folder on the XP machine I am unable to do so except when the Windows firewall is switched off on the XP machine. When the XP firewall is off every thing works fine. What do I have to do to the firewall to allow access to the shared folder, because I would rather not leave the firewall turned off permanently. We have a small network - 1 X Small Business Server 2003 R2 Server 7 X Win XP Clients I have setup the users to use roaming profiles. I have also setup folder redirect for Profile Folders to Shared Folder on server. I have disabled Offline Files on the XP Clients. This setup looks like it's working OK, and has done for a week, but now i've had 2 instances where a client has logged in and every shortcut / document has vanished. When I look in the Folder for the users profile on the Server, the Desktop folder is empty and the My Documents folder is also empty, yet Firefox still contains all of the bookmarks that have been added by the user - so the App Data folder works OK Please Help!!     - Remote Server Management Im sure this is a real basic question I recently applied the XP sp3 to one of my clients (stupid) now when I try to remotely connect to my SBS2003 box from this client I get the following error. Remote Desktop Web Connection ActiveX control could not be installed. A connection cannot be made without a working installed version of the control. Please contact the server administrator.     - Public Folder Calendar - how do I make it show up? We are running SBS2003 and Exchange, some clients run Outlook 2007/ some 2003. I have created a public calendar in Public Folders and shared it with all users. So, the functionaly of the calendar exists but it wont do the company any good unless it is visible. As a sysadmin I am able to navigate to "public folders" and look at the COmpany Calendar. Common users are not able to do this, it is to advanced for them - also unless the public calendar is visible under the calendar tab no one will use it. So what I am asking is how is the public calendar automatically added to all existing and future users calendar tab? I can do it manually by just drag and drop the public calendar to my personal folders and get a copy of it there. But again, this is to advanced for our users (they check mail and write documents, they have no understandings of computers beyond that).     - General Certificate Question Hi Folks, This is a beginner certificate question please. Looking for general advice. We've wanted to roll out OWA and VPNs protected by certificates but were wondering how we go about it. We also need it for ReportServer under 2008 and a few other things. Question 1: Basically, the certs I generated on our server are never considered 'trustworthy' for OWA to swallow so my question is that I presume we have to buy one from one of the 10 or so prime cert generators. Question 2: what do we really need in order to get off the ground? It seems you can pay $100 or $10,000. We have one central server and two sub domains and all the usual add-ons (sql server etc). Question 3: having one cert, can I generate my own certs from this that will now be trusted by OWA etc? There are about 8 products needing a cert or do they all reference the same cert? What about the subordinate SBS servers we have? The domain xyz.com.au is hosted on an ISP site somewhere in the sky. The site where I need the certificate is at MyCity.xyz.com.au (sub domain) ...and then we other servers at City2.xyz.com.au and so on. Is a single certificate all I need and what should I name it: xyz.com.au or MyCity.xyz.com.au This is a little confusing at the start and I hope I've made myself clear.     - SQLVDI Event Logs Over the past 6 months I have started to see instances of event ID 1 appearing in my application log for the SBS 2003 server. The errors only appear at 10pm which is when the backup of this server begins (using Backup Exec software). After lots of research some weeks ago I thought I had managed to track down this issue to a know Microsoft one which had a Hotfix available. I registered with them for the Hotfix and then got told (some weeks later) that it wasn't available for SBS2003. I am still getting the errors every night at 10pm when the backup begins. There appear to be FIVE entries per SQL instance ranging from SOPHOS to SBSMONITORING.     - Multiple Security Events (675) For the past two years now I have been plagued with multiple and excessive amounts of Failure Audits being reported on my SBS 2003 server. These events occur everyday, sometimes every minute of every day. So you can imagine there are quite a lot. I logged questions at various sites (on here too) and I've searched the internet for answers to these events. But I continue to find NOTHING. Surely someone must know how to stop or even just troubleshoot these errors? I've looked at Kerberos related info and got lost along the way, I've downloaded the Kerbtray tool but have no idea what I'm looking at. Can anyone help?? Unfortunately I cannot find anywhere the driver/software for this card.
Can someone help (even some donation possible)
