Problems Reinstalling Intranet (WSS 2.0 & CompanyWeb)

I'm running SBS 2003 SP1. I had installed WSS 3.0, side-by-side install
using the docs, and then removed it. I am now having problems with the
intranet (WSS 2.0 & CompanyWeb). I followed directions from MS Support
(829114) but I cannot reinstall the Intranet component now. I get the
following error from the sbs installer... "An error occurred while installing
Windows SharePoint Services and creating your intranet site.". Below are the
contents of my errorlog.txt and I can reference the eventlog.txt if needed.
Does anyone have any solutions on how I can fix this short of reinstalling
the entire SBS again?

I have, and most of them point to the hotfix for pre-sp1 and I've tried some
other things mentioned and it still didn't work. I was writing in this forum
for an interactive way of finding an answer.

I had this problem in the past few weeks.

I went Add/Remove programs, Change for Small Business Servers and did a
re-install for my intranet. BUT, I was working with a new server and did
NOT have to worry about any files in SharePoint. If you do, obviously,
backup before the re-install.

I am trying to re-install the intranet part from the Add Remove SBS. I was
able to remove, it did give an error but seemed to remove. Now when I go
into it and change to the maintenance, the intranet option doesn't show as
installed. I change it to install and then it goes hrough some stuff and
spits back the error below. It never does ask for a CD.

I've used that kb829114 more than a few times and others will agree that it
works the way it describes. A lot of people have posted the same issues as
you saying they have used and followed that article to no avail. However
when suggested they do it again and make sure they follow each step by step
and check off each step as they go along they always have success. So the
key is to do it again. I know you "think" you followed it step by step but
you may be surprised. Make sure you apy attention to the part where you need
to delete the companyweb internet site as well as deleting the application
pools section. Another important step is the registry editing portion. good
luck and you can do any harm doing it over.

I followed the directions, then double checked them. The directions really
aren't that difficult. They are not working for me though. I still have
problems getting the intranet component installed from the add/remove SBS
program. Again, I can post the content of the log files if it will provide
further insights.
