I have a user that has a laptop(xp pro) that was not used on the
network. I successfully joined it to our domain with no problem. i can
log onto the network and have no problem browsing what i would like. I
have installed two versions of our erp software. The older one we use
for reference only. The problem comes when i try to log onto the erp
software. In both programs i get an bad username or password error
when i try to log in.I know the username and password are correct as I
can use them to successfully log onto any other computer on the
network. I have also tried several other known good password username
combinations with no success.

I dissallow the normal users from installing software through the
global policy. If I log onto the network as the user that will be
using the laptop, and attempt to do a "run as..." with my
administrator credentials from the network, i get an error; "Unable to
log on: Logon Failure: Unknown Username or Bad password". I can do
this on all other machines in the network.

So, basically the user is able to log onto the network successfully
with a password and username but, any username and password in any
program seem to not work after that.

Not really an SBS issue since the user can logon to the network. =
Sounds like a single signon configuration issue.

Do you have support for your ERP software? or do they have forums?

i have support with them but they are not very good. i looked through
their knowledge base and, i have a case open with them. the reason i
don't think it is a problem with their software is because in both
instances of the software, the older and the newer versions, i get a
similar error with the username or password being wrong. One runs on
sql and the other uses foxpro. plus i get a similar password error
when trying to do a "run as..." on an executable. the computer used to
have netware on it and i removed it from the network connection.

But you are saying the user can logon to the network correctly...That's =
as far as it goes with SBS

SBS has no control over the ERP software and what one might call, single =

&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; I have a user that has a laptop(xp pro) that was not =
used on=20
the<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; network. I successfully joined it to our =
domain=20
with no problem. i can<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; log onto the network and =
have no=20
problem browsing what i would like. I<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; have =
installed=20
two versions of our erp software. The older one we use<BR>&gt; =
&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp;=20
for reference only. The problem comes when i try to log onto the =
erp<BR>&gt;=20
&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; software. In both programs i get an bad username or =
password=20
error<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; when i try to log in.I know the username =
and=20
password are correct as I<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; can use them to =
successfully=20
log onto any other computer on the<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; network. I =
have also=20
tried several other known good password username<BR>&gt; =
&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp;=20
combinations with no success.<BR>&gt;<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; I =
dissallow the=20
normal users from installing software through the<BR>&gt; =
&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp;=20
global policy. If I log onto the network as the user that will =
be<BR>&gt;=20
&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; using the laptop, and attempt to do a "run as..." with=20
my<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; administrator credentials from the network, =
i get an=20
error; "Unable to<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; log on: Logon Failure: =
Unknown=20
Username or Bad password". I can do<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; this on all =
other=20
machines in the network.<BR>&gt;<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; So, basically =
the user=20
is able to log onto the network successfully<BR>&gt; &gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; =
with a=20
password and username but, any username and password in any<BR>&gt;=20
&gt;&nbsp;&nbsp; program seem to not work after that.<BR>&gt;<BR>&gt; =
One=20
version uses sql which i have installed and the other uses =
foxpro<BR>&gt; which=20
is also installed.<BR><BR>i have support with them but they are not very =
good. i=20
looked through<BR>their knowledge base and, i have a case open with =
them. the=20
reason i<BR>don't think it is a problem with their software is because =
in=20
both<BR>instances of the software, the older and the newer versions, i =
get=20
a<BR>similar error with the username or password being wrong. One runs =
on<BR>sql=20
and the other uses foxpro. plus i get a similar password error<BR>when =
trying to=20
do a "run as..." on an executable. the computer used to<BR>have netware =
on it=20
and i removed it from the network connection.</BODY></HTML>
