Hi all.

Quick question. I have SBS 2003 SP1 (not R2). I know each SBS CAL also
gives you a license for Outlook 2003.

Question is, if I install Outlook on a client, can they use Outlook to
access another Exchange server? Or do they have to use Outlook to
connect to the SBS server?

Also, if I were to remove the SBS server from my network, do I have to
uninstall Outlook from my clients as well?

Thanks!

MS Licesnsing questions are best asked and answered by MS as they are
authoritative for this information.

...my guess would be;

Yes, as long as the 'user' has authenicated to the SBS domain. However, the
user would need a seperate Exchange CAL for access another server not in the
SBS Exchange Organization. If it was a seperate Exchange 2003 CAL, then that
would also give them Outlook rights. If Excahneg 2007, then no Outlook
rights are included with the Excahneg 2007 CAL.

If not using the SBS CAL for SBS then I wouldn't expect you'd be under the
EULA on this one. I would guess, Yes, you should not use Outlook without
SBS.

Exchange is what gives you the Outlook license.

Ergo why hosted Exchange 2003 they can offer up Outlook 2003.
Exchange 2007 does not have the cal rights to Outlook 2007.
