One of my users is getting a lot of sync errors in Outlook

16:19:34 Synchronizer Version 11.0.8200
16:19:34 Synchronizing Mailbox 'Simon Taylor'
16:19:34 Done
12:10:38 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
16:10:38 0X80004005

On his desktop Outlook connected to the LAN.

No other issues.

I don't think he has a offline addressbook!

I have seen this before after doing a swing migration. Normally all you need
to do is rebuild the offline address book. You do this from Exchange System
manamger, dont have it in front of me to walk you through, but should be
rather easy to find. Just right click on the "offline address book" and
select rebuild.

let me know if that solves it.

If the user's mail profile uses Cached Exchange Mode, he/she will have an
offline address book. You can go to CP -> Mail and run the wizard to
view/change existing e-mail accounts to see if cached mode is enabled (it is
by default).

I would go to CP -> Mail and view or change existing directories. Make sure
you see the Outlook Address Book as an installed service. If not, run it
again and add the Outlook Address Book. I've seen it once or twice where
somehow this didn't get installed.

If everything looks like it's configured properly and you're still getting
the errors, I guess what I'd do is to make sure Outlook is not running
(check Task Manager), then delete the offline address book files to the
recycle bin. In the %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder, it's the *.OAB files - probably 5 or 6 of
them. Restart Outlook, and go to Tools -> Send/Receive -> Download address
book and see if it works.

I've never deleted the OAB files, but can't see how doing so would cause any
problem. YMMV.
