Hello Bryan,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you unable to access your
network via My Network Places and get error on SBS. If I have misunderstood
the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Based on my research, this problem may occur when one or more of the
following conditions are true:
a. The improperly WINS settings on SBS
b. The Computer Browser service is not running on the SBS.
c. File and Printer Sharing and other settings may not be configured
correctly on the computers that are connected to the network.
d. The Antivirus software effect.
e. The known issue about Windows server 2003 sp2.
f. A problem exists with a physical component, such as a network adapter, a
network cable, or a hub.
I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can resolve this issue:
Suggestion 1: Ensure WINS and File and Printer Sharing on SBS
1. Open Control Panel -> Network Connections on SBS,
2. Right click internal NIC, select properties
3. Ensure "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" in the list,
and ticked it.
4. Double click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", click Advanced button
5. Click WINS tab, add SBS internal IP address in the list, select "Enable
NetBIOS over TCP/IP"
6. Click OK 3 times.
Suggestion 2: Configure the Computer Browser service
1. Click Start, click Run, type Services.msc , and then click OK.
2. In the right pane, locate and double-click Computer Browser.
3. In the Startup type box, click Automaitc, and then click Apply.
4. Under Server status, click Start, and then click OK.
Suggest 3: Do you install any Antivirus software on SBS? If yes, please try
to uninstall it from SBS temporary to test this issue.
Suggestion 4: Please install the following hotfix if you apply Windows
server 2003 sp2 on your SBS:
An update to turn off default SNP features is available for Windows Server
2003-based and Small Business Server 2003-based computers
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948496
Suggestion 5: Troubleshoot the physical components
You may experience this problem because a physical component is
malfunctioning. In this case, troubleshoot the physical components one at a
time until you identify the component that is causing the problem. Please
try to upgrade the driver of the NIC on SBS or replace the NIC.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
1. Can you browser My Network Places on client computers?
2. Please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures
to me at v-terliu@microsoft.com
3. Run command "ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig_client.txt" and "route print >
c:\route_client.txt" on one SBS client, send the files
c:\ipconfig_client.txt and c:\route_client.txt to me at
v-terliu@microsoft.com
4. Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@microsoft.com
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu (MSFT)

| When I try and view my network from My Network Places> Entire Network>
| Microsoft Windows Network > My Local Domain, on my SBS 2003 R2 machine,
| using the built-in administrator account I get the following message:
|
| "MyLocalDomain is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use
| this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find
out
| if you have permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not

|
| There is nothing in the event logs that indicates a problem. The SBS

| Do not have a clue what the problem is, please help.
