I am having an issue that I hope there is a simple resolution to. It
involves mapping drives. Here is the environment that I am working with.
Each user uses the same ID and password to locally loginto their computer.
The accounts are all local, and that account has full admin rights to the NT
4.0 Domain. For the record, I will be changing this.

I have my new Windows SBS 2003 server up and running, and I created a few
shares on it. I have created everyone's domain accounts on this server. So
I planned to in the short term, just map the drives for the 3 or 4 users,
and click on the "Connect using different name" and supply the id and
password for the new server.

This all works fine until I add a second drive. It works fill till a reboot
and then when I start up windows explorer and click on the drive letter, I
receive the following error:

-----------------------------

An Error occurred while reconnecting K: to \\ServerName\ShareName

Microsoft Windows Network: Multiple connections to a server or shared
resource by the same user using more than one user name, are not allowed.
Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try
again.

This connection has not be restored.

-------------------------------

With one drive it works, when you click on it, the password needs to be
entered, and that is fine. The issue surfaces when I set up the second one.
They are both being connected with the same credentials, which is causing me
the problem.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Maybe there is a registry
entry on the server that I can modify.

Thanks

The error seems very plain... you can't do what you're
doing for more than one drive.

So, I would then ask why you're even mapping drives in the
first place. It's required only if you're running an
application which requires access to a local resource...
that's what drive mapping does, it makes a remote resource
appear as a local resource.

If you don't need that feature, don't map the resource.
Just reference the resource as a network share.

Alternatively, if you <really> need both mapped resources,
then map them both through the same drive. Remember,
mapped drives are built on network shares, and within a
network share you can point to multiple network
resources/shares.

So if have have a share created on the server, how do I access it other than
by mapping a drive letter to the shared resource?

As an aside, to all of this. I have successfully mapped multiple drives
using this method on other computers at this company. It just seems to be
one laptop giving me an issue. I would be interested in understanding how
to get to the shares another way.

Thanks for your assistance.
