Ask your sales rep to put you in touch with someone in their support
department who can answer your specific questions.
I don't know about those specific apps, but I use LexisNexis PCLaw, and it
definitely doesn't work over the WAN. Worse than that, if you connect it
that way - say, over VPN - it'll appear to work, but you may very well end
up with data corruption. I had someone use it over VPN and lose a week's
worth of time entries, thankfully only his own. I think it's very common
for accounting database software to not support use over a WAN.
You may need to use a Terminal Server, RWW into a desktop, or something
along those lines. PCLaw has a remote app to allow remote workers to view
limited client data and make time entries, but it's not "live," and it's
definitely not the same experience as running it locally - much less data
available, no banking, payables, payroll, etc.
Unless you get lucky enough to find someone who's actually using that
software with a branch office, IMO you need to get the info directly from
LexisNexis. And based on my experience with the PCLaw web site, you want
your information from a real person - the web support info is close to
useless, at least for PCLaw.
BTW, I'd imagine their software would run fine on SBS - the WAN limitations
aren't related to SBS, but rather to the functioning of the database itself.
