Can anyone tell me how one can install Windows SBS 2003 Premium Edition OS
(DVD Disc) on a laptop that has SATA drive without floppy?

I am not able to load the SATA drivers without a floppy drive, hence can not
install the OS. I tried to include SATA drivers in the install disk using
nLite freeware but I am not successful. I am not able to separate out the
SBS 2003 OS cleanly (CD1) from other softwares on the DVD disc and have been
failing in the install. Anyone experienced this problem?

SATA Drivers? or RAID card drivers?

Anyway, Most of us have a External USB Drive to take care of this.
You can get them usually under 25 Bucks
If you are a IT Support person it's a good tool to have in your toolbox.

Re: Installing Windows SBS 2003 on SATA drive without floppy by Charlie

Charlie

You really won't get there from here without a floppy drive. As Russ points
out, USB external floppy drives are inexpensive and readily available.
Laptops aren't servers, however, so loading SBS on a laptop isn't exactly a
supported scenario. But using a USB floppy should work, assuming your laptop
BIOS supports legacy USB devices during boot.

Alternately, you could run SBS in a virtualized session. Run whatever OS
came with your laptop, add in Virtual PC or Virtual Server, and load SBS in
a VM. You won't need a floppy for that, unless it's to load the SCSI shunt
drivers for Virtual Server. And for those, you can use a virtual floppy
drive connected to the provided VFD file.

Yeah, I worked graveyard for 20+ years. Really liked it, obviously. But I
didn't let anything mess up my sleep cycle, which was from roughly noon to
8PM. I'd get about 6 - 7 hours in that span somewhere, and then shoot for a
nap at lunchtime in the early morning hours. Worked well for me. On the
weekends, I'd keep the exact same schedule.

Earplugs are your friend. ;) I use those disposable yellow ones.

I still sleep with them - they became so much a part of my normal sleep
pattern that I have trouble without them. It isn't the noise (I live in a
pretty remote location), but the sense of isolation they give you.
