    - xp Shares and server 2003 sbs Xp home and share , I know this has been talked about and the real answer is migrate clients to Pro, but not really an option at this point. Hope someone can help - I know that Win Xp home cannot Join A/D, but it can be setup so that file sharing on the Server can be accessed. Done it before (Things I've done so far to try and connect to the shared folder on the server) I've changed the XPhome workgroup name as advised, to the same as the Server's domain name - I've also created a new user in the A/D with the same UN/PW as the XP home Pc. The XP home Pc can ping the server and after reeboot can now see the server icon in my network places, but when trying to access I'm getting a error {Server is not accessible. you may not have permission to use this network ETC:-} The server is setup for DNS / Active Directory / File server & Routing and remote access. XP Pro Clients that use server shares fine , XP home clients can veiw but have no access , Server also can veiw XP home clients PC -Icon but get error , path can not be found. - also XP Home clients can use Shares on each other.     - Employee retired - stopping e-mail Hi, What is the proper way to bounce e-mail coming in for a certain employee who has left the company? We have a lady whose only work e-mail was internal to the company, but she gets tons of spam (i.e. careerbuilder alerts, weather updates, etc). She recently retired, and I disabled her account, but I think e-mail to her is still hitting the server, and I would like to bounce it before coming into my SBS/Exchange server.     - no email I am not recieving no email. I ran the ciew it gave me green check marks. Still nothing comming in. I sent something out ok I have my a static ip 71.189.157.84 I was told by network solution that my mx records are correct and the problem lies in my set up of my server. I am not sure where I need to start making changes?     - Quick Question: How do I Start CIEW Again? Hello everyone, I setup Windows Server SBS 2003 and went through the to-do list and wizards during setup. It was my first time setting up SBS 2003. We did NOT have a DNS A record or URL setup at the time. We do now. I need to create a new security certificate with the new FQDN and so forth to get the RWW working with little or no errors (and the VPN setup from inside RWW to work altogether). How do I re-start the CIEW wizard? Is there anything else I need to do to fix this or any steps I need to pay extra careful attention to along the way? Thanks very much.     - CCTV and SBS and Windows XP Pro and user vs Admin login, can't enable user to download ActiveX CCTV file. Dear group, I'm having a problem with enabling the CCTV on a desktop and I think it might be to do with SBS user permissions. When I log onto the pc as the user I cannot install the ActiveX file, downloaded automatically from the CCTV box. But when I login as Administrator then I can download and install it. The CCTV software is on the device, I go to it's IP address using the web browser, and the ActiveX software is installed. But before it will install I have to lower the security settings in IE and add the CCTV box as a Trusted Site. Then it installs, but only when Admin. In case this makes a difference, this is what I have to do as Admin to install it: I have to lower the security settings to Low, as well as add it as a Trusted Site (untick the HTTPS button). And I need to enable the remaining ActiveX options in Custom Level. Then it will install if I am Administrator, but not if I am a user (mobile/power user). 2 files are downloaded, they get installed, and it works like a dream.     - Rights management in Exchange Hi, We have SBS 2003 standard SP2 with SharePoint 3.0. We have published a certain SharePoint website externally and we want to create user accounts for outside consultants, which we want to restrict to using that specific website and nothing else. What's your advice to accomplish that? I am obviously worried about inadvertently opening doors to the server. Here is what I did: - I created a specific security group called, say, "SharePoint" - I have used that group to deny access to all shared folders on the server. That's tested, it works. - The problem is with our public folders in Exchange: I have trouble denying access to that security group, either directly through Outlook (after logging in as Administrator: the folders themselves in Outlook appear to access only users, not groups) or in Exchange Management itself (I was able to add denial of access under folders/public folders, but then a simple test showed that SharePoint security group members are able to access our public folders ! -- this I clearly don't undertand - I am also worried about VPN or other loopholes I might be forgetting.     - Exchange stops fax attachments Win2003SBS Prem SP2 The server was setup to forward all incoming faxes as attachments to one user but has stopped. Faxes are coming in OK and are visible in the INBOX and can be manually right clicked / send to / mail recipient etc. I found the instructions below from Mariette Knap [MVP] while searching and have run through it using Method A and checking the settings with method B. (The only difference was #4 where I am not putting a copy in a Document Lib. and never did.) All thoughts welcomed. Jonathan Jackson JCS Verify that automatic routing is enabled for email and Sharepoint. There are two ways to do this (A. Run the Configure Fax wizard or B. Check it Manually). I will provide steps for both. A. Run the Configure Fax wizard 1. Open the Server Management Console. 2. Click the To Do List. 3. Click the Configure Fax link. 4. Run the wizard. a. Make sure the "Route through E-mail" method is checked and that a valid email address is specified. b. Make sure the "Store in a document library" method is checked and that a valid document library is specified. 5. Finish the wizard. B. Verify Fax Routing is Enabled and Configured. Enable E-mail Receipt 1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, point to Fax, and then click "Fax Service Manager". 2. In the console tree in the left panel, right-click the "Fax (Local)" node, and then click Properties. 3. On the Receipts tab, verify the "Enable SMTP e-mail receipts delivery" check box is checked. 4. In the From e-mail address: box, type the e-mail address of the sender of the fax. For example, SBSFaxService@domain.local. 5. In the Server address: box, type the SBS server's NetBIOS computer name. Do not type the server's fully qualified domain name (FQDN). To determine the SBS server's NetBIOS computer name, type "hostname" (without the quotation marks) at the command prompt, and then press ENTER. 6. In the Port: box, type "25" (without the quotation marks). If the SMTP port has changed, type the appropriate port. 7. Verify the "Use these SMTP settings for the Route Through E-Mail incoming routing method" check box is checked. 8. Click the Authentication button, verify the "Anonymous access" option is selected, and click OK. NOTE: The authentication method you selected must match the authentication method defined in the Exchange 2003 SMTP server. By default, it is set to Anonymous access. To verify this: 1. Start the Exchange System Manager. 2. If the administrative groups are displayed, expand Administrative Groups, and then expand "". 3. Expand Servers, expand , expand Protocols, and then expand SMTP. 4. Right-click "Default SMTP Virtual Server", click Properties, click the Access tab, and click the Authentication button. 5. Verify Anonymous access is selected. Enable Incoming Fax Routing Methods 1. In the Fax Service Manager console, expand Devices and Providers, expand Devices, expand , and click on Incoming Methods. 2. Verify the "Route through E-mail" method is enabled. 3. Right-click the "Route through E-mail" method and click Properties. Click the E-mail tab and verify that a valid email address is specified. Click OK. 4. Verify the "Store in a document library" method is enabled. 5. Right-click the "Store in a document library" method and click Properties.     - slow boot when plugged into my network Iâ??m not sure if this is an SBS is issue, but I just want to make sure, so here goes... Can SBS cause slow booting for computers that are part of the domainâ?¦or none domain pc's for that matter? ...here is the issue I have a couple PCâ??s that boot slowly during the windows loading process. Once the device is logged in everything is normal but during the loading of windows it takes a long time (3-4) minutes for windows to load before you get to the login screen. I think that this has something to do w/ SBS because it will only happen when the devise is plugged into my work Ethernet cable. Unplug it and booting is fast 30-45 seconds and youâ??re logged in, profile loaded. It's like it has to timeout and then load from cache, perhaps this isn't an SBS related issue. Also, this only happens on a 1 or 2 of the 24 computers in this office.     - Some Permission/Share help please I want to do the following: 1. Hide a current share, then after 30 days. 2. Delete the current hidden share The situation: The current Share is called D:\My Drive. Beneath the My Drive share are two folders AX and ACC. I want to hide Ax for a month and then delete it. Currently when I go to Ax --> Properties-->Share it has the radio button selected for "Do Not Share this Folder" So I am assuming that the share is the folder above called My Drive that is doing all the sharing. How do I hide then delete the subfolder D:\My Drive\AX Does anyone have a good tutorial for Permissions and Sharing?     - Connecting to XP sp2 machines by VPN I have Win 2003SBS and several Win XP sp2 standalone remote machines. I need to collect simple files from the XP machines using the 2003SBS and the internet on a daily basis. I have set XP machines as VPN servers I can connect to these machines from the 2003SBS by VPN no problem My problem is this. When I try to map a drive in 2003SBS to the shared folder on the XP machine I am unable to do so except when the Windows firewall is switched off on the XP machine. When the XP firewall is off every thing works fine. What do I have to do to the firewall to allow access to the shared folder, because I would rather not leave the firewall turned off permanently.     - Problems deploying apps Hello, i've added some apps to deploy, like the shadow copy client(which isn't installed by default), office 2003 pro, office 2003sp3. and the thing is that they aren't installed by default with the wizard, an icon is placed on the desktop(this is not acceptable, if i want to push an app, i want to PUSH it, why does sbs install automatically it's own predefined apps and not the ones i want?), BUT when i click the icon i get an error that the target file does not exist. if i copy the path on the shortcut and run it, the installation proceeds succesfully. what am i doing wrong?. another, since i have office 2003 pro with sp3, i don't want sbs to install it's outlook client, then office, then off sp3(which returns an error), how can i make it so that on login it installs like that?     - Problem with SBS 2003 and roaming profile I have searched the groups, but can't find any posts relating to this. We have a small network - 1 X Small Business Server 2003 R2 Server 7 X Win XP Clients I have setup the users to use roaming profiles. I have also setup folder redirect for Profile Folders to Shared Folder on server. I have disabled Offline Files on the XP Clients. This setup looks like it's working OK, and has done for a week, but now i've had 2 instances where a client has logged in and every shortcut / document has vanished. When I look in the Folder for the users profile on the Server, the Desktop folder is empty and the My Documents folder is also empty, yet Firefox still contains all of the bookmarks that have been added by the user - so the App Data folder works OK Please Help!! I will be running this in a MS Small Business Server (SBS) environment, but chose to post here as MOSS is still new enough that getting an answer is more likely on this NG. I have a 2 server LAN: DC is running SBS 2003 Premium (includes WinServer 2K3, Exchange 2003, IIS 6.0, SQL Server 2000, ISA 2004), and the other server is a file-and-applications server running WinServer 2003 R2. The latter server is specifically for MOSS. I have 3 partitions on it - OS, MOSS and DB(s) and for the Index. I would like to use IIS and SQL on the DC for MOSS. Q1: Can IIS 6.0 reside on the DC? Q2: I know that SQL Server 2005 Express is automatically installed; if I choose to use SQL Server 2000, do I follow the steps for "Deploying Office Sharepoint Server 2007 in a DBA environment"? Q2a: Can I place the DB on the MOSS server with the main "engine" still on the DC?     - Remote Server Management Im sure this is a real basic question I recently applied the XP sp3 to one of my clients (stupid) now when I try to remotely connect to my SBS2003 box from this client I get the following error. Remote Desktop Web Connection ActiveX control could not be installed. A connection cannot be made without a working installed version of the control. Please contact the server administrator. Then I get "an invalid server name was specified." (looks ok to me I havent changed its name) I wish I wasnt the server administrator !! Can any one advise me where I can find this ActiveX control thingy and how I can reinstall it to get my remote desktop connection to the server up again. Thanks and sorry for being so dim.     - Public Folder Calendar - how do I make it show up? We are running SBS2003 and Exchange, some clients run Outlook 2007/ some 2003. I have created a public calendar in Public Folders and shared it with all users. So, the functionaly of the calendar exists but it wont do the company any good unless it is visible. As a sysadmin I am able to navigate to "public folders" and look at the COmpany Calendar. Common users are not able to do this, it is to advanced for them - also unless the public calendar is visible under the calendar tab no one will use it. So what I am asking is how is the public calendar automatically added to all existing and future users calendar tab? I can do it manually by just drag and drop the public calendar to my personal folders and get a copy of it there. But again, this is to advanced for our users (they check mail and write documents, they have no understandings of computers beyond that).     - General Certificate Question Hi Folks, This is a beginner certificate question please. Looking for general advice. We've wanted to roll out OWA and VPNs protected by certificates but were wondering how we go about it. We also need it for ReportServer under 2008 and a few other things. Question 1: Basically, the certs I generated on our server are never considered 'trustworthy' for OWA to swallow so my question is that I presume we have to buy one from one of the 10 or so prime cert generators. Question 2: what do we really need in order to get off the ground? It seems you can pay $100 or $10,000. We have one central server and two sub domains and all the usual add-ons (sql server etc). Question 3: having one cert, can I generate my own certs from this that will now be trusted by OWA etc? There are about 8 products needing a cert or do they all reference the same cert? What about the subordinate SBS servers we have? The domain xyz.com.au is hosted on an ISP site somewhere in the sky. The site where I need the certificate is at MyCity.xyz.com.au (sub domain) ...and then we other servers at City2.xyz.com.au and so on. Is a single certificate all I need and what should I name it: xyz.com.au or MyCity.xyz.com.au This is a little confusing at the start and I hope I've made myself clear.     - SQLVDI Event Logs Over the past 6 months I have started to see instances of event ID 1 appearing in my application log for the SBS 2003 server. The errors only appear at 10pm which is when the backup of this server begins (using Backup Exec software). After lots of research some weeks ago I thought I had managed to track down this issue to a know Microsoft one which had a Hotfix available. I registered with them for the Hotfix and then got told (some weeks later) that it wasn't available for SBS2003. I am still getting the errors every night at 10pm when the backup begins. There appear to be FIVE entries per SQL instance ranging from SOPHOS to SBSMONITORING. Here is an example --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQLVDI: Loc=CVDS::Cleanup. Desc=Release(ClientAliveMutex). ErrorCode=(288)Attempt to release mutex not owned by caller. . Process=4628. Thread=9320. Client. Instance=SOPHOS. VD=. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All other entries are exactly the same apart from the "Instance". These vary between: SOPHOS SHAREPOINT SBSMONITORING MSFW (there are about 10 of these instead of just 4) BKUPEXEC Does anyone have a definitive answer on these entries at all?     - Multiple Security Events (675) For the past two years now I have been plagued with multiple and excessive amounts of Failure Audits being reported on my SBS 2003 server. These events occur everyday, sometimes every minute of every day. So you can imagine there are quite a lot. I logged questions at various sites (on here too) and I've searched the internet for answers to these events. But I continue to find NOTHING. Surely someone must know how to stop or even just troubleshoot these errors? I've looked at Kerberos related info and got lost along the way, I've downloaded the Kerbtray tool but have no idea what I'm looking at. Can anyone help??     - Vista Fax and Scan I have a SBS 2003 R2 Premium Server. I have installed a fax Board (IQ Express 1 port fax Board). Outgoing and incoming faxing works fine. The console on the server works fine. Fax and scan on the Vista clients has been configured to connect to the server. The problem is when you launch fax and scan, it opens and then immediately crashes. No error message or anything except and entry in the application log. Sometimes it will open and you can see the list of faxes, but as soon as you select one it crashes. Here is the error message that appears in the event log.     - OWA very slow after runnin multipple times CEICW and IIS Manager C Hi I'm trying to implement Self Signed Certificate for OWA and also for some other maill stuff to a quite new SBS 2003 R2 installation (All SPs installed), one NIC. I followed these instructions: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/SSL_Enabling_OWA_2003.html Since I had (once again) problems with certificate creation I run multiple times both CEICW and Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager Certificate Wizards. Now I have several certificates and my OWA isn't working anymore from Internet or is extremely slow. Internally it is fast. I suppose I removed one certificate using IIS Manager. I wonder how I can remove all certificates and Secure Communications / Require secure channel settings? Have a fresh start perhaps. Btw, I can see that the very first certificate made by CEICW is issued to wrong FQDN but has not effected after running the CEICW to solve that problem.     - EX versus SMTP mail type A very senior executive assistant is retiring. We've hired her replacement and she is training her. The retiring person, who is under high stress, tries to add the new person to her address book in Outlook and is aghast to see the EX mail type and attendant confusing notation that she has never seen before. It occurs to me that this is the first new staff person that we have added since we moved to using Exchange--everybody else was already in AD and we just modified properties. Does it matter? It appears that both styles of addresses work correctly--i.e. the in-house stuff stays in-house, and external recipients get usable reply addresses. I'm just trying to figure out if I should try to get the rest of the staff addresses set up as EX rather than SMTP? The new user was added using Server Management, Users.     - Adding Dedicated Exchange 2003 Server to SBS 2003 Network I'm currently running SBS 2003 Premium (not R2). We have 65 SBS CALs, so we're getting closer to the 75 limit. We have just recently purchased the SBS 2003 Premium Transition Pack and upgrade CALs, but we have not actually performed the transition install yet. My question is can we legally install Exchange 2003 on another member server running Windows 2003 R2 server? I have ordered the Exchange 2003 CD/DVD media to go along with my Transition Packs. It seems like I'm covered both ways, but these licensing questions are way, way above my paygrade. And the reason we have not actually installed the Transition Pack yet is because we don't currently need it. The sole reason we purchased it was because the older SKUs for pre-R2 SBS Transitions Packs are discontinued and hard to locate. I listened to a podcast related to the SBS Transition Pack install process and it addressed not actually installing the TP--it implied that you simply needed to purchase it to be in compliance.     - access to GMail through ISA 2004 Running SBS 2003 Premium. Got a staff member who has asked for a "loosening" of ISA so she can get to her GMail account. She says "half the time she is disconnected" when trying to access the site. I don't have a specific rule for or against GMail, but I recently used ISAServer.org's and MS's papers on security for ISA and hardening of ISA, so think that is the reason.     - Slow browsing thru My Network Places SBS2003 PDC and about 25 W2k workstations. Some machines experience very slow (4-20 seconds) each time the navigate thru a folder tree on the file server. Interestingly if one uses a drive mapping or directly access the UNC path the responsiveness is less than a second for each mouse click. IOW the latency only occurs when accessed via My Network Places. I have checked many posts and have not found a solution even though many have had exactly this same symptom.     - RE: Backups to an NAS (Configuring) Greetings, Some time ago I posted this request: I purchased a Snap Server 210 as a means to backup my network server using Microsoft Small Business Server 2003. However, I discovered an article (Article ID : 317173) on Microsoft's support page stating, "Microsoft does not support network-attached storage If access to a disk resource requires that a share be mapped, or if the disk resource appears as a remote server by means of a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path (for example, \\servername\sharename) on the network, the disk storage system is not supported as a location for Exchange Server databases. Microsoft only supports using Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) qualified storage devices with Exchange 2003. Exchange 2003 addresses a number of issues that prevent earlier versions of Exchange from being used in conjunction with network-attached storage devices. With these changes, you can host Exchange 2003 database files on network-attached storage devices, but any solutions that provide this capability must also provide additional functionality to fully enable the solution. This includes manually moving the Exchange database files to the device because the Exchange 2003 System Manager tool does not support moving database files to a remote file system." Is it feasible to use my Snap Server for backups? If so would you please provide me detailed instructions on how to accomplish this. Here is valuable insight on this topic submitted from Adaptec's technical support. " -- Thank you,We have received your correspondence about how to back up data from your EXCHANGE 2003 server to your SNAP SERVER 210 and that doing this through SMB ("Samba")--which requires a mapped network drive--is not recommended by Microsoft. The only way we can see this working is most-likely through iSCSI, where the Snap Server is configured as an iSCSI Target and the EXCHANGE server uses an iSCSI INITIATOR to connect to that target and configure that target as if it were a local drive connected externally like SCSI, FireWire or USB. There are two advantages to this from the perspective of the EXCHANGE server: 1.) With the EXCHANGE server seeing this as a local drive and not a network drive, it can be treated like a local drive, all the way down to configuring and partitioning that drive as an honest-to-goodness NTFS partition. This takes SMB and the GUARDIANOS on the SNAP SERVER 210 out of the picture. The only connection is from the iSCSI Host through the INITIATOR to the Target. 2.) With the EXCHANGE server seeing this as a local drive and not a network drive, one does not need to worry about the SMB configuration on the system where the network drive is actually stored and whether or not the SMB emulation will transfer all the inherent rights and permissions of the local system that EXCHANGE uses, such as CREATOR OWNER and EVERYONE, which are local system policies that are local to the EXCHANGE (or WINDOWS server or workstation) host machine itself. The Snap Server's version of SMB will not support those and one can not configure these to work correctly through SHARE ACCESS or the folder rights and permissions from a WINDOWS workstation. In an iSCSI configuration, this is taken out of the configuration because once again, the iSCSI target on the Snap Server is seen as a local drive, not a mapped network drive. Hopefully this has given you "food for thought" here. " I have not had the time to implement this approach still having problems with receiving emails on this install, however, I hope this helps anyone in the community.     - Trustee Calendar I'm not sure how I should set up a calendar with only the trustee information on it. I do not have Trustees as users. I was thinking up setting up a user name trustee and allowing trustees to login to the remote webworkplace and see calendar information, but I dont want them to have email.     - SBS at server hotel Hi! I have the issue of having our SBS moved to a server hotel where it only has a network plug and a certain amount of ports that is opened to it from outside Internet. I tried to run CEICW and told it that the server was hooked directly to the Internet, as the firewall doesn't have any IP address. Having only one NIC (the onboard one) in the SBS, I was prompted to insert yet another one in order for the server to accept the new Internet connectivity method. When having done this, I had yet another trouble and that was that I could not access the file shares that I had created on the server. I have tried to access the file shares from both Vista Business, Vista Ultimate as well as Vista Home Premium machines. Some of them were connected to the domain of which the SBS is the DC. Now, when I try to connect to the VPN connection through which I use the server, I succeed. Exchange is working perfectly across this VPN link, as well as WSUS 3.0. However not the file shares. CEICW prompted me to insert yet another NIC and so I did, but as there was no LAN to hook it up to, it is still left unplugged. The network connection that is to be connecting the server to the presumed LAN is hence disconnected. Might this be the reason for me not being able to access the files on the server? If yes, how do I change the settings in the CEICW or in another spot of the server in order for the file shares to become accessible again? A funny thing that I think is extremely peculiar is that when I tried to connect from a Vista Home Premium machine, and typed \\FQDN\share name, I actually succeeded in getting a connection to the server shares and I could see and read them. When I connect from a domain connected computer however, it only tells me that I cannot access the file share. If I instead type \\[Server internal IP]\share name I get the same result, so I start to think that there is something seriously wrong with the config. Does anyone have any good input?     - Migrating from single sata to raid 5 Hi, I'm planning to migrate a old SBS 2003 server from the single sata drive they have at the moment to a RAID 5 configuration with 3 drives (including the original drive). I have Acronis backups of the whole server and could just build the array clean and then recover from the backup image. But I was wondering, never having done this before, if it's possible to somehow just attach the existing drive to the raid controller and let it take care of building the RAID 5 array by itself?     - SBS 2003 losing netbios resolution We're seeing a strange problem .... SBS 2003 r2 approx 10 XP Pro clients. They have applications that look at Netbios names to run... eg. sage etc. they look for \\sbs . They work fine for hours and then all of a sudden they stop, and if you do \\sbs to see the shares all it shows is the offline redirected my documents. If you do \\sbs.domain.local then the shares all appear fine, however because the apps use just \\sbs they don't work. It takes a reboot of the server AND the workstations to get everything working again. Have run dcdiag and netdiag and it passes all tests. I've tried an entry for the server in the hosts file but that doesn't help. Clients are all dhcp node type 0x8 which I believe is hybrid. WINS/NBNS and DNS Server ip's are handed out over dhcp too.     - Wireless WPA on SBS not authenticating Morning, I am trying to configure an Cisco 1200AP and a Linksys WRT54G to work with certificates. I did the following: Installed an configured Certification Authority Installed Internet Auth Service Defined my RADUIS Clients and Access Policy for Wireless I created a wireless group and a wireless GPO GPO consisting of Autoenrollment for "Computer" Certificates I set my gpo so that it only authenticates Computer Certs / TKIP/ WPA I can see on a client machine that the cert is there and it is the correct cert ---- But naturally when I go to connect to the Network with a client device I get no luck... just says Validating Identity ----- Im guess im frustrated because I can see where I went wrong on with this guide, Im working with my linksys now and still no luck, any good guides to peap maybe?     - Domain Admin on 2nd Server can't run programs across the network Hi all, I have an SBS 2003 Server (SP2 + R2), and recently added a 2nd Windows 2003 R2 Server to the domain as an Application Server. When logged on as any SBS Domain user (even as the Domain Administrator) on the application server, I can run/execute any program on the local disks, but when I try to run or install a program accross the network I get the following error: "Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item." However, if I log on to the application server with the local administrator account, I can run programs across the network. Domain users on the XP Pro workstations can also run programs from across the network. So it appears as if there is a policy being enforced by the SBS server which disallows logged on domain users on additional servers from running executables across the network. Help. I have been trying to get my wireless network going for sometime now. I have
my machines authenticating with keys using EAP-TLS. Everything was going
smoothly until I had to configure a wireless scanner using Windows CE

I have found a guide that shows me what to do to get my cert installed on
the handheld... I think :

via activesync and then install from the handheld. My only worry is that I
cant seem to get a certificate that isnt tied to a computer. I have the
option to export the cert for computer and user but say is i get it off the
pc called TEST then it has the machine name appened to the cert. The same is
for the user only of course the domain user is specified. Is there a way for
me to export a clean certification to use for auth other computer (my
scanners)

Probably the easiest way is to go into IIS on the server (assuming you
are using the certificate for OWA), right click the Default Website
and go to Properties.

Click the Directory Security tab.

Click the View Certificate button

Click the Details tab on the Certificate window

Click the Copy to File... button and go through the wizard and that
will result in the certificate in installable form.
