I suppose...one "person" could have more than one user account, so =
presumptively a user cal, could represent multiple user accounts...not =
the way I want to manage things just to get around licensing and cost

Oy, I hate licensing & do suggest that the OP contact MS directly on =

But AFAIK, it isn't a user *account* (with or without a mailbox) that=20
requires a CAL - only an actual *person* requires one, unless you're =
using=20
per-device CALs .
One person/user might well have access to multiple mailboxes (each of =
which=20
has to have a user account, even if it isn't used).
That said, I can't imagine that SBS Standard would be a good fit for =
this=20
shop unless the mailbox quotas are miniscule - adding a member server=20
running W2003 & E2003 Enterprise would work, though. I don't think you =
can=20
introduce E2007 into an SBS2003 domain, but may be mistaken.
