Although we only have a limited number of SBS users, we are quickly
running out of Exchange managed mailboxes.

Ultimately we will have 200+ mailbox users so presumable will have to
add a separate Exchange Server to our SBS controlled domain?

Is this the way to do it or should we be thinking of a different
configuration?

TIA,

JohnK

p.s. We already have a separate terminal server providing access for
various regional offices access to a server hosted application.

Each domain user can't have multiple email addresses, but ultimately =
only has 1 mailbox
Each domain user who has a mailbox must have an SBS cal
You are limited to 75 CALs

So don't know how you can have 200+ mailbox users?

Can you explain further?

Oy, I hate licensing & do suggest that the OP contact MS directly on that.
But AFAIK, it isn't a user *account* (with or without a mailbox) that
requires a CAL - only an actual *person* requires one, unless you're using
per-device CALs .

One person/user might well have access to multiple mailboxes (each of which
has to have a user account, even if it isn't used).

That said, I can't imagine that SBS Standard would be a good fit for this
shop unless the mailbox quotas are miniscule - adding a member server
running W2003 & E2003 Enterprise would work, though. I don't think you can
introduce E2007 into an SBS2003 domain, but may be mistaken.

Sure - but a lot of companies have resource mailboxes, general purpose
shared mailboxes, etc.

Your SBS2003 licensing requirments and restrictions have no impact on the
number of security groups, distrribution groups, AD user objects, or
Exchange Mailboxes. Your limit on Exchange is the maximum store size of
75GB, not the number of mailboxes that limit comprises.

Your licensing limit is on the number of devices and/or number of unique
persons accessing the SBS domain. This is the 75 user(persons) + devices
limit.
