I had this problem right after setting up SBS 2003 3 years ago now and
I disabled the SMB signing on the server and it fixed it. I've not
had this problem since then. However upon trying to configure a new
HP XP Pro SP2 system via http://domainname/connectcomputer. After
getting that set up I noticed none of the policies were applying.

Turns out I'm getting 1030+1058 in event viewer. I've tried changing
the DFS registry value per some help I found somewhere but this has
done nothing.

None of the other workstations in the network have this problem.. so I
can only assume it's this workstation's configuration. Thanks HP!

It doesn't matter what user I log in as from that workstation, I
cannot browse the system shares on the server.

Can anyone give me suggestions on what else to try? I've done the DFS
registry key, rebooted a number of times. Made sure the NetBIOS Helper
was enabled. DNS and DHCP are fine on the server and workstation.
Like I said this is the first workstation to exhibit these problems
and I've set up quite a few new stations in the past few weeks.

Oh also,

Running rsop.msc gives me "Invalid Namespace" and gpresult gives me
"No RSOP data available".

DNS would be my first guess. Configured for DHCP and getting DNS from DHCP
not staticly configured?

(ipconfig/all)

It was initially statically configured. But even changing it all to
DHCP does me no good.

I think something went hairy with the /connectcomputer setup. The
workstation shows up in my workstation list in RWW but I cannot
connect to it.

I forgot to mention.

I can ping anything on the network by name. So I'm not so sure it's a
DNS problem?

The Windows DNS client configuration is 'quarky'.

Try pinging 'companyweb',

or just post the ipconfig/all so we can eliminate that as a possible
problem.

I'll post an ipconfig /all tomorrow when I'm at work on the machine
since I can't contact it remotely tonight. I checked it out myself
earlier before I left work and didn't see anything out of place from
my other workstations on the domain.

Empty connection specific DNS suffix but everything else looks good. Are you
getting anythin in SBS eventlogs about GCMS9$ logon failures?

If not already done, might give netdiag and nltest a quick run.

Otherwise, I might think about backing it out of the domain and rejoining
with connectcomputer or manually if necessary just to get things working to
start.

The connection specific suffix is empty on all my workstations. Is
that a problem?

I ended up disjoining the domain and rejoining it and poof, it
worked. *boggle*.
