Hello

I have a new install of SBS 2003 Premium w/o installing the Premium options
(SQL and ISA).

During the install, I left with disk 2 running. When I got back, it appeared
the computer had rebooted. I restarted the process. I tried to complete the
process and was only partially successful. Exchange would not install. NNTP
was corrupted. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Then installed Exchange.

As far as I can tell, everything is now solid EXCEPT companyweb and RWW. I
found and followed Manfred Zhuang instructions on a thread with the same
subject line as mine.

I have removed and reinstalled the SharePoint Services
(http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829114).

I reran CEICW (again) but this time making sure that I did not use the 'do
not change' option.

Nothing working yet.

I have downloaded the IIS 6 resource kit.

If someone has a quick answer, I'd sure like it. Failing that, I need
someone who can read the log files when I generate them.

Thanks.

Hello Greg,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you unable to access RWW
and Companyweb after you install the SBS. If I have misunderstood the
problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

1. Please rerun the CEICW to make sure your SBS 2003 server have right
network configuration. Go through the follow KB and rerun CEICW carefully.

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763

Detailed steps for your reference:

a. On the SBS 2003 Server open the Server Management console. Go to
Standard Management\To Do List.

b. Click the "Connect to the Internet" link.

c. When navigating to the Firewall page, select "Enable firewall" and click
Next.

d. On the "Services Configuration" page, select all the items and then
click Next.

e. On the "Web Services Configuration" page, make sure "Allow access to the
entire Web site from the Internet" is selected. If you select "Allow access
to only the following Web site services from the Internet", make sure all
items in the list are selected. Click Next.

f. On the "Web Server Certificate" page, choose to create a new Web server
certificate and then type the public domain name (your public DNS name)
that you will use to access OWA and RWW (for example, if your public domain
name that you use to access the sites is www.xyz.com, you should type
www.xyz.com as the new certificate name).

g. Go through the remaining steps.

2. I suggest you to reinstall RWW on SBS:

A. Open Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.
B. Click Change/Remove for Windows Small Business Server 2003 in Add or
Remove Programs:
C. Click "Windows Small Business Server 2003" and click on "Change/Remove".
D. Follow the setup prompts until you reach the "Component Selection"
dialog screen.
E. Set the "Server Tools" to "Reinstall", and set all its subcomponents to
"None (Installed)".
F. Complete the setup wizard. You'll be prompted for CD3, point it to the
SBS cd3 folder.

After we reinstall the RWW, we need to run the CEICW again.

If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:

1. Can you access RWW from SBS itself via https://localhost/remote? If not,
please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures to
me at v-terliu@microsoft.com

2. Can you access Companyweb from SBS itself via http://companyweb/? If
not, please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures
to me at v-terliu@microsoft.com

3. Please gather all SBS setup log files in c:\program files\microsoft
integration\windows small business server 2003\logs\ on SBS and send to me.

4. Gather IIS log:

a. Open IIS snap-in.

b. Right click Default Web Site and click Properties.

c. Uncheck the "Enable Logging" box and click Apply.

d. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 folder and move all files to a
backup location.

e. Check "Enable Logging" box and click OK.

f. Run IISReset command.

g. Reproduce the problem and send the log file in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 folder to me for research.

5. Gather IIS Metabase:

1) Download the IIS Resource Kit tools from the following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en

2) Install it, run MBExplorer (Metabase Explorer)

3) Right click the "LM" node and choose "Export to file".

4) Specify a file name, specify the password and finish the export.

5) Send the file and the password to v-terliu@microsoft.com

I hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu (MSFT)

Hello Terence,

Attached is the information that you asked for.

I went through the steps as listed in your post on the forum. I repeated
these steps today to verify that indeed that had been done per your
instructions. As you can see, the sites are not coming up.

I do have RDP and connect from my office to the customer server. Also, I
can run the other web sites on their server.

Hello Terence,

Thanks for your help.

I found both v1.1.4322 and v2.0.50727 on my computer. The first was set for
allow and the second was set to prohibit. I followed your instructions and
could be the first page but not to the remote access page. The error
message led me to KB823379. It matched my condition. I ran aspnet_regiis
-ir on both versions.

My site is now up.

Again, thank you for your time.
