Hello everyone.
I am seriously stumped!
We have a Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition. It is current with
all its updates. We have an external email (unrelated), that we would like
to retrieve from the external POP Server via the POP Connector in Microsoft
Exchange 2003. We are able to retrieve without issues via Outlook Express
but not with the Exchange Server. We have put the configurations in the POP
connector similar to the account in Outlook Express. The only variation from
a regular POP account is that it must be retrieved on port 995. However all
pertinent ports have been added to the POP firewall rule so that is not the
issue. I have followed the following kb from Microsoft to no avail,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842293/ and
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885685/en-us . I have reran the CEICW wizard.
I really don't know what to do next. Your help in this matter would be most
appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I believe you are mostly out of luck with the MS POP3 Connector as it
doesn't natively support SSL. There's been an "stunnel" approach mentioned
in a few posts (please let us know if you decide to try this approach,
especially if it works):

Using SBS Exchange POP Connector with non standard ports
(see near bottom of page)

and

Using POP connector with AT&T Yahoo

Thank you Merv!

I followed your advice and the stunnel worked flawlessly.
Thank you so much for your time. It is most appreciated.
Have a good one.

P.S. I am trying to rate your answer but it does not seem to work. Anyhow,
just to be sure, you deserve *****/***** . Thanks again.

Thanks for posting back your results with "Stunnel". I hadn't been able to
confirm that this approach would actually work. Glad to see that it did.
Please let us know if you run into any problems with it in the future.
