I have older Dell Axim and it runs Pocket PC 4.20.1081
every time I manually reset the clock one hour ahead, then I go to SYNC to
PC and then it resets...I have seen the updates for versions 5 and 6 but no
older ones...how do I get a patch with instructions for this? I am running
Windows XP

two points... the sync process sets the ppc clock to match the sync pc's
clock... make sure they are set to the same timezone and that your pc's
settings include the dst checkbox.

If you have to manually set the ppc's clock, uncheck the "sync clock"
setting in activesync.

there is a dst ppc update available... search this group for DST using
google groups at
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.pocketpc?hl=en for the
most recent postings.

Sure, because the PC is doing it's job and synching the time!

The PC and PPC internally keep track of time in UTC (Universal Coordinated
Time- what we old-timers used to call "Greenwich Mean Time") then add or
subtract the number of hours offset for your time zone.

Denver, where I live, for example, is usually UTC-7, but is -6 during DST.
So, if my DST-patched PC clock says 8PM and my unpatched PPC says 7PM,
they're both actually set to the same time- 2AM (02:00) UTC, but the Axim
is subtracting an
extra hour because no one told it about the new DST rules! ;-)

The .cab file is here:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/d/4/8d400259-a258-41da-884e-
24a743ccc166/WM2k23DST_unsigned.cab
(Sorry about the broken URL- you'll have to cut-n-paste it most likely.)

Copy the .cab file to the Axim and run it, then change it's time zone to
any other zone and back to your home zone (that "activates" the update)
then you should be fine.
Alternately, if you can't get the patch to work, simply temporarily set
your PPC ahead one time zone (don't change the clock's time) until the PPC
"thinks" it's DST (April whatever) then set it back to the right zone.
This will ensure the PC and PPC have the same UTC offset (i.e. Eastern
DST=Atlantic Standard Time, UTC-4) so their clocks will be in sync.
