Hello, I have the exact problem in this discussion:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.pocketpc/browse_thread/thread/6dd012985ff6fcfd/a948f48c65319cb6?hl=en&lnk=gst&q=4150+ROM#a948f48c65319cb6

His computer restarted (like mine) during ROM update.. not my iPAQ
will not boot, stuck with the screen 1.05H 1.02 and HP logo. I've
read lots of people, including the thread I linked, were able to fix
this by flashing the ROM from the SD card, using mtty.

When I launch mtty, I do not get the option to connect to the device
no matter what I do..

Here are some great instructions for the process;
http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7567 but I still can
not get mtty to connect to the busted ipaq.

Am I missing something?

Update: Now in the dropdown list, \\.\WCEUSBH001 does show up after
several iPAQ restarts, however I'm not able to send any commands, and
from what I've read it should be saying something like USB> where I
can enter commands, but that also is not on the mtty screen.

Wow I really didn't do anything special here.. but its going now.

Like I said, it was a full white screen with the mtty connection, then
I hit "Autodownload" (btw I have mtty 11a or 11.1a)
It said it was starting to download from the iPAQ, and soon errored
with some sync error.. but it eventually gave me the USB> prompt.

I had my SD card in prior to the hard resets.. so it was already in. I
typed r2SD
this is the command that backs up the rom to your sd card, it finished
fine.. then I hard reset it again (Stylus + Power + Contact button +
ITask button [the arrow])
Then I disconnected mtty, and removed the SD card. Ran the ROM update
exe from HP, and its udpating right now.. I'll see how far it gets..
already is stalled at 44% .

It never completed, back to no boot.. can not get MTTY to fully

I found that leaving that battery out for 48 hours always reset the
iPAQ back to a 'no-rom' state and able to easily connect via mtty and
the HP ROM patch .exe

So after several more failed attempts (always between 40-70%), I tried
it on a different computer. The update worked, and now I'm running
fine on 1.1
