If you delete a contact that's on the phone memory, it does not affect
the one stored on the SIM card.

I don't know the tilt specifics, but, the sim card is considered to be
on the "phone side" of the devices, so, would assume that the oem can
handle deletions as they feel fit.

Might look in settings and programs for a "sim manager" which may have
answers and possible settings.

What method are you using to delete the contacts?

There no settings that would affect that.
When I delete a contact I go into contacts and highlight the contact I
want to delete and go into menu, "Delete Contact"

Just to clarify: in the contact list, standard contacts are signified
by an icon of a landscape format card showing a persons head and some
lines; sim entries are represented by a portrait format icon shaped
like a sim card, with the top-right corner cut off.

Are you seeing one of each of those prior to deletion, and then when
you delete the first, the second also vanishes?

Secondary question (and again, just to clarify): Is the deletion
taking place on the PPC (Tilt) or on the PC (in desktop Outlook)?

I have little icons on the contact list but the sim list is just
numbered.
It does not seem to effect the outlook listing, although I dont
usually sync with outlook.

Ken, I'm still not getting a clear picture of what you are doing, but
let's continue...

From my knowledge of WM5/6 devices, the main "contacts" list shows
both "Outlook" contacts, and "SIM" contacts. They all appear in a
single list together, but you can identify which type any item is by
looking at its icon to the left side of the list. If the icon is a
portrait shape with the top-right corner cut off, then then that is a
SIM item, if not then it's an Outlook item.

What sort of icon do the records have, that you are deleting?
