ActiveSync Botching Outlook Read/Unread Status
I'm running WM6, syncing via ActiveSync 4.5.0 to Outlook 2003. I have
it setup to sync my Outlook mail (directly, not via an Exchange server,
since I'm only using Outlook for POP/SMTP).
If I mark a message in the inbox as "read" on the PDA, then sync, the
message is correctly marked as "read" within Outlook.
If I move a message from the inbox to another folder on the PDA, then
sync, the message is correctly moved to the target folder within
Outlook.
HOWEVER - if I read a message in the inbox on the PDA, then move it to a
folder (either from within the message itself, or from the message
list), then sync, the message is moved to the target folder but it is
NOT marked as read in Outlook. So, I wind up with unread messages all
over my folder tree.
Any idea how this can be fixed? It's handy to be able to read & file
mail on the go, but somewhat awkward to have to track it down later in
Outlook and mark is as read again!

rs232 to PPC
Is there a terminal program (like Hypterminal for XP) for a PPC (HTC
Tytan, WM6).
I'd like a simple upload/download of text files to the PPC via the USB
port. I would need a mini-usb to RS232 (9pin) cable, which I can
make.
I have tried searching, but came up with nothing. Anyone got anything
or know of something to comunicate with a PPC?
Thanks.

Windows Mobile 6.0: Text Messages: save/foward/move/print PROBLEM.
RE:Windows Mobile 6.0
I have a text message dialogue in my "Messaging" program that I need to move
off the phone and save/print and I don't see any options for that! I must be
missing it. I'm feeling like a numb-skull here.
I'm sorry for the mundane, but I don't want to leave anything out.
First:
I go to programs and select "Messaging."
Second:
My inbox is selected and there is only one text message in it, which
is highlighted by default. My options are "New" and "Menu." So I select Menu
and the only options I have available to me are:
"Delete, Reply, New MMS, Call Sender, Sort, Purge, Options"
The "Forward..." and "Copy to Saved" options are both dimmed and cannot be
selected. Why is that? Did I do something to cause that?
Third:
I open the actual message by clicking on it and my options are:
"Send' and "Menu."
The menu gives me the following options:
"Add Media, My Text, Emoticons, Message Options, Call Sender."
The remaining options, including Forward and Copy to saved are dimmed and
cannot be selected! How frustrating!
I just want to print the dialogue and save it! Any ideas as to why I can't
do that? I know...I know....PEBKAC: Except now we must consider that there
is no keyboard and the chair is optional.
Is there a temporary work-around? Perhaps text message files that I
can just copy over, or a database I can access after copying over?
Please feel free to set me straight on ANYTHING! I learn whenever possible.
Yes...I can can make the impossible...possible.
Thank you.

a. HTC is going to introduce some new devices in early May - at last! While
I certainly consider HTC's models boring, unimaginative and far from

point to first letter of a word and slide the stylus to the subsequent

Syncing pocket pc WM5 with online calender
Hello:
I have a pocket pc with windows mobile 5.0 and I run linux. I would
like to save the hassle of trying to sync with my linux machine and
sync directly with some internet calender, preferably Google calender.
My pocket PC has WiFi, and I am frequently in places where there is

be willing to pay a fee for such a service.
Does anyone here know if one exists?

SMS Messages Open At Bottom Of Message
Hi,
I have an odd SMS message display problem I cant resolve.
For some reason when I open SMS messages on my PPC Pro (running in a
HTC TYTN2), the window has started to open at the bottom of the
message which leaves the content of the actual message off screen. I
therefore have to press the up button in order to be able to see the
text of the message.
Its only a small thing, but its really irritating. I've tried the
reboot it approach, but this has not cured the problem.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I might cure this as there
are no configurable options available in the messaging app that I can
find in order to sort this out.

Treo-500v firmware bug causes applications to receive spurious private messages
A firmware bug in the Treo-500v causes all applications to receive a
spurious private message 0x00008017 after a phone call is performed from the
device.
This message is normally in a range reserved for private communication
between the threads of an application and should never be sent to an
application by the system, the shell, or any other software on the device.
This firmware bug can cause random application crashes and other issues.
This issue exists in various other windows mobile devices and was reported
to microsoft two years ago (first spotted on the Motorola Q), but apparently
microsoft still does not include testing for this firmware bug in their
platform validation tests, and we see it popping regularly on new devices.

PC's Network connection stops when connecting WM6 via USB +
When I connect my HTC 8925 using USB, ActiveSync creates a LAN
connection (under My Network Places \ Properties) and this hoses my
PC's network connection.
Anyone have a fix for this? Tag: Test of QMail setup Tag: 489957
Using ActiveSync with 2 devices, 2 logins / profiles ???
I have two devices...
1) AT&T Tilt aka HTC Kaiser 8925 running WM6
2) iPAQ running WM2003
I have 1 PC and two separate logins. I'd like to use 1 device per
login.
How can I assign a separate login to each device?

An electronic telephone book?
I used to have a Casio Cassiopeia which was used almost exclusively for
addresses and E-mail addresses. I am now looking for something similar
with the principal requirements being that it does NOT have rechargeable
batteries (The Cassiopeia ran on 2 x AAA batteries)and it should be
able to synchronise with a PC. It does not need a huge amount of memory,
4 or 5 MB would be enough and a colour screen is unnecessary.
Does anyone know where something like this can be obtained?

Offline web browsing for Windows Mobile 6
Hi
I am using a smartphone HTC TyTNII with Windows Mobile 6.
Would like to save some webpages that I am browsing on my PC at the
moment, so that I can transfer these webpages to my HTC TyTNII, thus i
can read OFFLINE while I am going out on the road.
How can I do this? Any steps or caution?
Thanks:) Tag: Test of QMail setup Tag: 489943

HTC Touch Audio Manager
Hello
I have an HTC Touch and when I play my albums, for some reason it seems to
play them in alphabetical order, instead of the original order, to ensure
this, I even copied the tracks, so the filenames would be in the original
order - but for some reason it uses the track name to sort the order of
play - has anyone else noticed this, or do I need to adjust some setting?
Kind regards

GPS crashes device.exe on Sprint Mogul HTC-6800 (and others?)
Hi everyone,
There seems to be a bug in the GPS intermediate driver that causes
device.exe to crash if the mogul goes into sleep mode while an
application has a handle to the GPS device.
I've found a reference to this problem in a couple of other forums:
http://www.sprintmogul.net/Default.aspx?tabid=54&ptid=370&threadid=3301&forumtype=posts
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21694
This is a major problem for us as we need our app to keep tracking via
GPS even if the device is put into sleep mode.
Does anyone know of any workaround for this or an ETA on when it will be
fixed? Or how to escalate the importance of this issue?
Thanks,
Michael Tag: Test of QMail setup Tag: 489916
Email Signature programmatically: part 2
Hi all (and Peter specially:) )
I am able to create the signature of a custom account programmatically
using the PR_CE_SIGNATURE and PR_CE_USE_SIGNATURE properties.
So, during the installation of my .cab file in the setup process, I
create the mail account and then I start the signature process. When
ended, I can see the account and the signature properly set but if I
create a new email I cannot see the signature in the mail!!
But if I go in the mail option, I go in the page of the signature and
without changing anything I press Done, after that I can see the
signature in the mail :(
Is there anything that I miss? Is there some sort of flush() or
"StorePersistentlyAndUseIt"...
I add my code...
Thanks for help
