Installing a new font (partially) changes the default system font

Hi,

I am installing additional fonts on a japanese windows mobile 5.0
device (or emulator) and came across the following behavior. After
installing a new japanese font everything remains the same except for
the kanji at the left side of the clock page. This page can be reached
by tapping onto the clock on the main page. This kanji is now
displayed using the newly installed font. I also witnessed this
behavior on c++ programs that do not directly specify inside their
resource files which font they want to use.

My question is how is this possible? In other words, how does WM 5.0
select the font which is used when the software does not specify this
directly?

I have also seen this behavior. However I am using WM6. I would also like to
know where a program gets the font.

I did do the following. I renamed the font that first appearred in error.
Then the program used the correct font. I then renamed the font back to its
original name. The program still used the correct font. Doesn't make sense.
