    - ppc with a sensative built in gps i recently bought an ipaq RX5935 pda (second hand) with built in gps, but the gps part leaves a lot to be desired, its very insensative, takes ages to get a lock (like 20-25 minutes) looses the signal the second a tree is in view, i've got the updated firmware for the gps reciever, but it dosent help, some people say theirs works fine, others say it's just not good at all. i've also got a garmin nuvi 250w, and that thing can get a sat lock inside as long as it can see a window, only the densest forrests loose the signal, and it gets it back as soon as an opening in the tree cover is around, and it gets a sat lock within seconds of being turned on. but i want a pda so i can run a few different mapping proggies, topo and road navigation maps, as well as some geocaching proggies and other stuff you need a ppc for. So is there a pda out there that has a built in gps that is as good as on the garmin nuvi's? i dont mind a small antenna sticking out the case if it helps it get a good signal. i need wifi and bluetooth, minumum 3.5" screen, preferably 4", sd card slot, a good battery life (4 hours plus), and i must be able to get a proper vehicle mount for it, something a few pda's just dont seem to have, as i'll use it on my motorbike, a universal pda mount is no good.     - ActiveSync again and again replacing ALL data on one device Until about 2 weeks ago I was perfectly happy with ActiveSync synchronizing my HTC TyTN II with my Windows XP/Outlook XP laptop, but now this combination suddenly has developed the nasty habit, that about every second time, when I connect, it declares, that synchronization is screwed up (my words) and asks me whether I want to merge the data of the device and this computer or whether I want to replace all data on one device with the data on the other and in which direction the replace should take place. This full replacement is not only tediously long (it takes about 15-20 minutes instead of the "normal" 1-2 minutes), one also has to confirm the overwriting multiple times (for different types of data like files, calendar, tasks, etc.) and of course this does not really *sync* the data but rather overwrites one device's data set with the other's, so if one happens to have changed data on both since the last sync, then one devices modifications are lost. Can one somehow stop this craze and force AS to do a proper resync such that if afterwards considers both sides as in sync again? What could possibly cause AS to repeatedly consider things to be so fatally out of sync that it thinks it can only recover by taking that last resort and resync all?     - TIlt accessories Hope someone here can answer this. I have the AT&T Tilt phone and, so far, am happy with it. I have been told by 2 different sales people at the AT&T wireless store there is a device I can plug into the Tilt to listen to music. BUT, not the typical earbud device. My wife likes the earbuds. I like the old-timey headphones. The device I am trying to find is an adapter(?) that plugs into my phone but has a jack that allows me to plug in headphones or earbuds to the other end. Hope I'm describing this right. Nonetheless, AT&T people tell me I can get this device online but I have been unable to find it (maybe because I don't know what to call it). Help please.     - Snooze for 1 week? I have reminders on my WM6 pocketpc (Verizon XV6700) but when they pop up, the "snooze" options only go up to a max of 1 day. On my Entourage (Mac) desktop client, I get the option of 1 week snooze. Both of these are synchronizing calendar to an Exchange server.     - Sending emails from WM5 device to Outlook Hi all, I'm trying to figure out a way to send emails from WM5 to Outlook. Sounds easy, but theres a the catch. My phone uses activesync (exchange) to sync mails/calendar etc. from my companys server (let's call it myCompany) and also uses another Push Email program to sync emails/calendar from another Exchange (let's call this otherCompany). This way the calendars are combined but mails sync to different folders: myCompany to default Outlook E-mail -folder and otherCompany to Other-folder. This is fine by me, but because I can't read these otherCompany mails anywhere else that phone I would like to have these mails sent to computer (easier to read and answer). The computer has a Outlook installed but it doesn't use any Exchange or other ways to get mail. In other way said I would use Outlook only to get mails from phone and send them back (to be sent forward).     - Disable start and stop recording sounds? Please could anyone tell me how to disable the start and stop recording sounds in Windows Mobile 6? I don't want to remove all sounds and notifications from programs, and these annoying sounds do not show up in the Sounds and Notifications section of Settings. So I found one of the offending sounds in the Windows folder and tried to rename and then delete it. How can I delete files in my Windows folder? This is just an annoying sound - it's not like it's an important system file. Failing any of this, can anyone recommend an alternative sound recording software? Obviously, one that doesn't chirrup maniacally when you ask it to start. (Actually, thinking about it, this is becoming my preferred option - getting rid of yet more Microsoft annoying-ware!)     - WM6 Recurring Appointments Are Losing Colour One of our users categorises his appointments using colour coding. He is having a problem with recurring appointments losing their colour setting after being synchronised to a HTC Touch phone running Windows Mobile 6. Non-recurring appointments work fine and retain their colour setting but strangely not ALL recurring appointments are affected. The phone syncs using Microsoft Direct Push. Any ideas anyone?     - Setting WINCEROOT WM5.0 I am trying to get started using Platform Builder 5 for Windows Mobile so that I can build an OS using our BSP. The problem I have is that I am getting invalid folder for WINCEROOT and when I point this to C:\WM500 it says that this folder is invalid. I believe the issue is that the version of PB I installed is tools only. This version of PB I downloaded from the JetStream server and only gives an option for tools only!     - Widcomm BT API Dear All, I have Widcomm drivers installed on the laptop and want to communicate with other BT devices using Widcomm SDK. I am able to start inquiry, discover services and read the services for the serial port device I have. Next step is to connect to the device. All the samples provided are client-server model. If I use CRFCommPort.OpenClient() or CRFCommPort.OpenServer(), the return type is indicating success but I am not able to connect to the device. No OnEventCompletion notification occurs.     - What does it meas: File is not signed with a trusted certificate? Hello, TomTom GPS software that worked on my Ipaq4700 has a problem with backlight on my new Ipaq211. Searching a web I found that TomTom does not supports WinMobile. Someone published a fix to this problem - to change 1 byte in TomTom exe file. I did it, but now when I try to start TomTom I am getting a message: "The file cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found".     - The TILT versus anything thing else I currently have the 8525 and considering the TILT when they offer the refurb for free again on the Packages and Deals page. Can anyone tell me if there is anything else that is comparable to the TILT or 8525. I like most the touch screen and the WIN Mobile 6 on them both.     - Problems with TomTom GPS software on Ipaq 211 Hello, I was using with success TomTom GPS software on Ipaq 4700. Now I installed it on Ipaq 211 and here is what happens: When I start TomTom the backlight of the screen is turned off - I can barely see the display. When I connect it to an external power supply backlight is turned on and stays on even after I disconned external power supply. Ipaq is setup to turn off backlight if device is not used to 5 minutes. In Windows XP's registry I tried changing the Briefcase Path (in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\********\Services\Synchronization) to an absolute path (F:\backup-folder\mobile\) but it seems it cannot remember this because when I tried to sync, this registry key got mangled - presumably by Activesync - and changed to \mobile\ which does not exist, thereby, of course, breaking Activesync.     - WM 6.1 broke TyTN II GPS I have an HTC TyTN II. I downloaded and installed HTC's official WM 6.1 update last week. I got no errors during installation, but afterward the GPS receiver wasn't working properly. I tried it with iGuidance 4 (which I normally use) as well as borrowed copies of Tom Tom Navigator 6 and Route 66 version 7 (both of which I deleted and returned to their owners, for the record). In all cases, the GPS position on the map lagged behind my actual place by over half a kilometre. The unit would give me routing instructions, but only after my car had been stopped for about a minute or so and the receiver had a chance to catch up to where I was. I ended up going back to WM 6, and it's been working properly since then. Any thoughts? Was this a freak occurance? Is it likely to happen again if I tried upgrading?     - WM6 Classic File Explorer and 2003 SBS Hello, I have an HP iPAQ 210 running WM6 Classic and cannot get it to authenticate to a Windows 2003 SBS using File Explorer. I enter a known good user name/password/domain (even tried the Administrator account) and get a Logon Failed message. I can use File Explorer against a Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 box with no problem. I've read allot about using certificates for authentication so I even setup a CA on the 2003 server and enrolled, confirmed the certificates were installed but the result is the same.     - WM6 connect to POTS analog modem Hi All, I have a T-Mobile Shadow running WM6 and a T-Mobile SDA running WM5. I often used the SDA and Modem Link to dial and connect to analog modems. (Not for internet access) When Modem Link was activated, my PC detects the phone as a 33k baud modem. I could then use it much like any other modem. I know many people used this feature to connect to their service provider's internet service, but it could also be used to dial POTS analog modems. Now with WM6, Modem Link on my Shadow is gone, replaced by Internet Sharing. That's very nice for connecting to the internet. But I need to use the phone as an analog modem, like I did with the SDA. I've seen some hacks on the web to get Modem Link installed on WM6, but they didn't work for me.     - Word completion dictionary editor or WM6? I'm considering the purchase of a WM6 device after a number of years of extensive use of WM5. One of the most useful utilities on my WM5 device was a "Word Completion Dictionary Editor," which I used to add words to the list of suggestions that appear when word completion is enabled (Start > Settings > Personal > Input > Word Completion). I added a variety of words that weren't included in the default dictionary, including surnames, e-mail addresses, industry terminology, and so on. I've been playing with an emulated WM6 device, and WM6 does not support the utility. Web searches have made it clear that none of the dictionary editors that worked on WM5 are working on WM6 devices, emulated or real. Does anyone know a solution to this issue? Possible solutions could include: * a method for editing WM6's (evidently well-hidden) dictionary file manually * a referral to an updated or new editor that works with WM6, preferably freeware. I have a Thinkoutside Stowaway keyboard for my Imate SP5 but note that they
no longer
support the keyboard and so do not provide drivers for Mobile 6. Want to
upgrade my phone and so seek a new solution.

Is there another company that makes this type of travel keyboard? Or is
there a way around this?

Seem to remember a post here that the foldaway bt works with wm6 but
does not impliment the wince keys such as "OK" etc.

Anyone have both to confirm or deny this?
