Sending emails from WM5 device to Outlook
Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out a way to send emails from WM5 to Outlook.
Sounds easy, but theres a the catch. My phone uses activesync
(exchange) to sync mails/calendar etc. from my companys server (let's
call it myCompany) and also uses another Push Email program to sync
emails/calendar from another Exchange (let's call this otherCompany).
This way the calendars are combined but mails sync to different
folders: myCompany to default Outlook E-mail -folder and otherCompany
to Other-folder. This is fine by me, but because I can't read these
otherCompany mails anywhere else that phone I would like to have these
mails sent to computer (easier to read and answer). The computer has a
Outlook installed but it doesn't use any Exchange or other ways to get
mail. In other way said I would use Outlook only to get mails from
phone and send them back (to be sent forward). Does anyone have any
ideas how this could be solved or is it even possible?

Disable start and stop recording sounds?
Please could anyone tell me how to disable the start and stop recording
sounds in Windows Mobile 6?
I don't want to remove all sounds and notifications from programs, and
these annoying sounds do not show up in the Sounds and Notifications
section of Settings. So I found one of the offending sounds in the
Windows folder and tried to rename and then delete it.
How can I delete files in my Windows folder? This is just an annoying
sound - it's not like it's an important system file.
Failing any of this, can anyone recommend an alternative sound recording
software? Obviously, one that doesn't chirrup maniacally when you ask it
to start. (Actually, thinking about it, this is becoming my preferred
option - getting rid of yet more Microsoft annoying-ware!) Tag: FREE Tutorials on HTML XHTML CSS JavaScript XML XSL ASP SQL ADO Tag: 490974
WM6 Recurring Appointments Are Losing Colour
One of our users categorises his appointments using colour coding. He
is having a problem with recurring appointments losing their colour
setting after being synchronised to a HTC Touch phone running Windows
Mobile 6. Non-recurring appointments work fine and retain their
colour setting but strangely not ALL recurring appointments are
affected. The phone syncs using Microsoft Direct Push.
Any ideas anyone?

Setting WINCEROOT WM5.0
I am trying to get started using Platform Builder 5 for Windows Mobile so
that I can build an OS using our BSP.
The problem I have is that I am getting invalid folder for WINCEROOT and
when I point this to C:\WM500 it says that this folder is invalid.
I believe the issue is that the version of PB I installed is tools only.
This version of PB I downloaded from the JetStream server and only gives an
option for tools only!
So my question is what do I have to do the get the tools to be able to build
the OS?
Could someone possibly point this doom brain in the right direction?

Widcomm BT API
Dear All,
I have Widcomm drivers installed on the laptop and want to communicate
with other BT devices using Widcomm SDK.
I am able to start inquiry, discover services and read the services
for the serial port device I have.
Next step is to connect to the device. All the samples provided are
client-server model. If I use CRFCommPort.OpenClient() or
CRFCommPort.OpenServer(), the return type is indicating success but I
am not able to connect to the device.
No OnEventCompletion notification occurs. Somebody provide a pointer
to connect to other devices using Widcomm SDK.

What does it meas: File is not signed with a trusted certificate?
Hello,
TomTom GPS software that worked on my Ipaq4700 has a problem with
backlight on my new Ipaq211. Searching a web I found that TomTom does
not supports WinMobile.
Someone published a fix to this problem - to change 1 byte in TomTom

message:
"The file cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted
certificate or one of its components cannot be found".
Any idea how to fix this problem?

The REAL, MULTIPLATFORM Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) headphones roundup: FIVE headphones
Anyone having been into the audiophile / Hi-Fi business knows loudspeakers
and headphones should never be tested alone, without comparing their audio
quality (and other parameters) to other, comparable headphones (speakers
etc.). This is why strictly comparative tests are needed to fairly compare
the sound quality of each set to one another. Unfortunately, the vast
majority of the A2DP stereo Bluetooth headphones reviews doesn't belong to
this category and, therefore, shouldn't really be taken seriously.

WM6 change Activesync folder?
In Windows XP's registry I tried changing the Briefcase Path (in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE
Services\Partners\********\Services\Synchronization) to an absolute path
(F:\backup-folder\mobile\) but it seems it cannot remember this because
when I tried to sync, this registry key got mangled - presumably by
Activesync - and changed to \mobile\ which does not exist, thereby, of
course, breaking Activesync.
I tried the path in quotes and without but it made no difference.
Can anyone tell me how to change the default Activesync folder in
Windows XP? Tag: FREE Tutorials on HTML XHTML CSS JavaScript XML XSL ASP SQL ADO Tag: 490888
WM 6.1 broke TyTN II GPS
I have an HTC TyTN II. I downloaded and installed HTC's official WM 6.1
update last week. I got no errors during installation, but afterward the
GPS receiver wasn't working properly. I tried it with iGuidance 4 (which I
normally use) as well as borrowed copies of Tom Tom Navigator 6 and Route 66
version 7 (both of which I deleted and returned to their owners, for the
record).
In all cases, the GPS position on the map lagged behind my actual place by
over half a kilometre. The unit would give me routing instructions, but
only after my car had been stopped for about a minute or so and the receiver
had a chance to catch up to where I was.
I ended up going back to WM 6, and it's been working properly since then.
Any thoughts? Was this a freak occurance? Is it likely to happen again if
I tried upgrading?
Maybe WM 6.1 should be avoided by TyTN II owners for the time being?

no problem. I've read allot about using certificates for authentication so I
even setup a CA on the 2003 server and enrolled, confirmed the certificates
were installed but the result is the same. I have tried to connect with two
different 2003 SBS servers and they both react the same way - Logon Failed.
Any ideas?

WM6 connect to POTS analog modem
Hi All,
I have a T-Mobile Shadow running WM6 and a T-Mobile SDA running WM5.
I often used the SDA and Modem Link to dial and connect to analog modems.
(Not for internet access) When Modem Link was activated, my PC detects the
phone as a 33k baud modem. I could then use it much like any other modem. I
know many people used this feature to connect to their service provider's
internet service, but it could also be used to dial POTS analog modems.
Now with WM6, Modem Link on my Shadow is gone, replaced by Internet Sharing.
That's very nice for connecting to the internet. But I need to use the phone
as an analog modem, like I did with the SDA.
I've seen some hacks on the web to get Modem Link installed on WM6, but they
didn't work for me. Has anyone been successful in installing modem link on
WM6, and/or can recommend a 3-rd party applet that provides AT modem
functionality?

Word completion dictionary editor or WM6?
I'm considering the purchase of a WM6 device after a number of years of
extensive use of WM5.
One of the most useful utilities on my WM5 device was a "Word Completion
Dictionary Editor," which I used to add words to the list of suggestions
that appear when word completion is enabled (Start > Settings > Personal >
Input > Word Completion). I added a variety of words that weren't included
in the default dictionary, including surnames, e-mail addresses, industry
terminology, and so on.
I've been playing with an emulated WM6 device, and WM6 does not support the
utility. Web searches have made it clear that none of the dictionary editors
that worked on WM5 are working on WM6 devices, emulated or real.
Does anyone know a solution to this issue? Possible solutions could include:
* a method for editing WM6's (evidently well-hidden) dictionary file
manually
* a referral to an updated or new editor that works with WM6, preferably
freeware.
I know that a functional word completion dictionary editor would not strike
many people as a killer app, but the nature of the work I do on my mobile
device makes it an absolute necessity.

HELP:XDA ringtone problem
I have an XDA Stellar and an XDA ORbit 2. Both have the same problem
as did the previous XDA Stellar. I have set some mp3 files for the
various ringtones (incoming call, sms, voicemail, etc.) and they just
won't shut up. I can receive a message, read it, reply to it, delete
it and the ringtone still lhasn't stopped ringing. This is incedibly
annoying and often very inconvenient. The incoming call one stops fine
when I answer and the reminder one (and any others that already happen
to be playing at the same time) when I dismiss it. But the SMS, missed
call and voicemail tones don't stop until the tracks finish and I have
on a number of occasions had three songs playing simultaneously.
Please can someone tell me how to make the ring tones stop when I
press a button. TIA.

WM6 development tools
Hi there! Back in school, I used to play around with the PocketPC

Hardware requirements for software development
Hy,
Microsoft says that the minimum requirements for developing apps for VS2008
is 1.6GHz and 384Mb of RAM. I have 3.0GHz and 2Gb of RAM, but it takes about
2 minutes to compile my solution made of 3 projects ( 10 forms for pocket PC,
and 25 components ). Is this normal ? What kind of hardware do you recommend
or use ?
I do have a McAfee antivirus, but it seems it doesn't take too much time of
the CPU ... VS2008 leaves always about 50% free to do nothing.

WM6: how to change a speed dial list entry?
I have to admit: WM6 outsmarts me again. I am trying something simple,
namely to change one of the numbers in my speed dial list.
Adding entries to the speed dial-list is not - as on would expect - done
by bringing up the speed dial list and then selecting Menu and doing
something like "Add" or "Edit" and then picking the contact to add. No,
no - that would be far too easy! One first has to find out, that this is
done by going into Contacts first and then, in contact edit mode one can
choose to "Add to speed dial".
But now I am trying to *modify* an old number in the speed dial list. So
I went into contacts and first simply modified the number. This,
however, does not "ripple" through to the speed dial list - so that list
is obviously not just a collection of references into Contacts. Then I
tried to (re-)assign the now modified number to the same speed dial
position. This works, but for some reason speed dial isn't impressed and
keeps listing the old number.
And for some mysterious reason, if I bring up the context menu over the
speed dial entry, there is a "Delete" but it is grayed out (i.e.
disabled) and an "Edit", which brings up something completely different,
namely the fundamental phone settings application where one can change
the network or the PIN, etc., but it does NOT allow me to edit that
speed dial entry. Another nice example of MS' sometimes extremely
intuitive GUI design! ||-(
Gosh - I simply want to replace a number in my speed dialing list! But
obviously I am to dumb to tell WM6 to do this...

Why do emails sent from PDA have no "To" or "Subject" in "Sent
I've got a Windows Mobile 6 PDA phone (XV6700) connecting via over-the-web
ActiveSync to an Exchange (2003) server. Synchronizing emails works fine,
and I can both send and receive. However, I notice that when I send emails
from the PDA, the email that ends up in the "Sent items" folder on the
server has no "To" or "Subject" fields. Why is that??
Thanks,

150x SD card vs class 6 SDHC SD card - speed comparison.
On my PocketPC PDA I was using Transcend 150x 4gb SD card. Recently I
replaced it by Transcend class 6 SDHC 8 gb card. My impression is that
my old 150x card is faster that the new class 6 SDHC card. Is there
any way to verify if my impression is true?
