    - mobile device timeout In the windows device under settings/power/advanced you have the option: On battery power : turn off device if not used for : then options 1-5 minutes. Does anyone know a way to add more options? I would like to add more options than 1-5 minutes.. Is there a registry/xml/etc... way to change this? Way to do this in code?     - problem in VOIP Application I am having a VOIP application. I am recording and playing voice buffers simultaneously using threads. I am using the Wavein and waveout api's for recording and playback in C ++. After recording I encode the buffer and send it over network, to the receiver, where the receiver receives the buffer, decodes it and plays it. There are queues of buffers, for recording and playback. The problem is that I have lot of breaks and some noise when I playback, rather than having a smooth stream played back.     - How can I set up a connection with socks5 proxy? In setting->connection->connection,I can only find the place to set up variety of proxies of different type(sock4,sock5,http,wap ).But how can I set up a connection that only with a socksv5 proxy?(without http)Or is this type of connection unrealisable ? When I click advance setting and set up the socks proxy setting and leave other proxy settings blank, the input box under "Use proxy to connect to internet" has been greyed out,seems the proxy has been disabled ?     - Pocket PC 2003 and Avalanche problems Can anyone help me with a problem that I am running into? We are running windows mobile 2003 on a bunch of hand held scanners. We are also using Avalanche to connect to our Terminal server and to lock the users out of the operating system. It keeps asking us to re-install .net on the local hand held scanner and if you say no it kills the connection to the server. Is there any way to get this to install automatically on the local hand held(Intermec) instead of having it ask if we want to over write the files.     - Something useful for my old Ipaq. After buying the Nokia n95, I have never used my Ipaq since. What could I possibly use it for now, does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking, wouldn=92t it be cool if I could use it as a second monitor display, (or a customable page) which could display stats of a game, example; world of warcraft. Or with the same concept, utilising the touch screen which controls music, on my PC whilst im gaming.     - Ownerdraw ListView problem for styles with style list, icon, small This is for Win32 or WinCE application. Currently Microsoft supports the ownerdraw listview with style LVS_REPORT where as it doesn't support for LVS_ICON, LVS_SMALLICON and LVS_LIST. It means ON_WM_DRAWITEM() is invoked only for LVS_REPORT style. If something is not implemented, then it should be clearly mentioned in MSDN. I am requesting Microsoft to solve this bug.     - Palm Treo 700wx/Windows Mobile 5/Windows Vista Home Premium I have had this Treo since September 2007. In December 2007 I got a new HP Notebook that came with Windows Vista Home Premium x86. I then installed WMDC 6.1 and have been able to synchronize the device with Windows Vista using the cable with no issues. I recently purchased a bluetooth adapter that you stick in the USB port. I installed the drivers for it and successfully created a new bluetooth partnership. I then deleted the ActiveSync partnership on the device and delete the partnership on Windows Mobile Device Center. I did a soft reset on the device and restarted the computer. Then I attached the cable to the phone and attached the other end to the computer. I did an initial sync and established a new partnership. After I did that I then disconnected the cable. Then I went to the Windows Mobile Device Center to see how to connect using bluetooth. I followed the directions and I am unable to connect using bluetooth.     - Searching calendar for events and the today screen and upcoming events. I have an HP iPaq running Windows Mobile 6. I cannot find the option to allow me to search the calendar for events or appointments. I presume that there would be such a function, but if WM6 has one I'm stuffed if I can find it. It was one of the first menu option on my now retired Palm Zire (PalmOS). I naturally assumed that WM6 would have such a basic feature. Also, when I turn the iPaq on the Today screen will show today's events, and if there are any events happening soon, say tomorrow or in a couple of days time then they will be displayed. But only if they have start/end times. All day events aren't shown, except if they're happening today. Is there any way to get those all day events to display in the Today screen? When I start Outlook, its "today" screen does show upcoming events, whether they are all day or timed ones. You'd think that WM6 would do the same.     - Keeping the bluetooth link alive with my car system Hi all Has anybody encountered this problem and found a solution? I have a HTC 3600 WM5 phone (aka the Trinity) and an Audi A6 with cell phone 'preparation'). This has both a physical connection (for Nokia) and a bluetooth one. I have successfully paired the phone with the BT hands free thingy in the car. This works fine once or twice after the initial pairing. Thereafter, phone and car mate successfully on switching on but the connection then drops out after 2 minutes. I can remake the connnection by initiating a call from the handset. If I do this, the connection remains live for the rest of the journey. If I try to anticipate the problem by initiating the call within the initial two minute linked period, it still drops it at the 2 minute point! It's hard to know if this is a phone or car problem. I do have other cars with bluetooth connectivity but they are basic (Nokia car kits) with much less functionality so I can't tell if there is a similar problem - but I suspect not. However, my wife has a similar HTC phone running WM6 - and this does not drop the connection. There are some other differences too but I won't bother you with these unless someone tells me they might be significant. Anyone encountered this? Anything I can do about it?     - WM6.1 Embedded Phone Numbers Hi, I'm running WM6.1 on an AT&T Tilt. My prior phone was a Blackberry 8800 that fell and isn't working. I installed the Blackberry Connect software on the Tilt. No problems, I had used it a few months ago. With the new custom ROM on the Tilt, the battery life seems much better but I have to wait for a work day to really see the difference. With the Blackberry, whenever it had 7, 10 or 11 numbers together, it would underline it so you can dial it assuming it was a phone number. WM6.1 does this with numbers in an email, but not in the subject line. I can copy the phone number from the subject line but can't paste it in the phone to dial it.     - Accessing Network Shares/ Windows Mobile 6 -Wifi-HTC Touch- Possible Bug I improved the security on the Win XP box by disabling simple file sharing and turning off the guest account. The new share NTFS permissions does NOT have EVERYONE enabled, just a username. Someone has to log in with this username to be able to access the share remotely. The share works perfectly from another windows xp professional box and even a windows home edition box and even a ppc 2003 Dell axim. But now I cannot access the share from my HTC Windows mobile 6 device. I type in to Internet Explorer file://servername or use the FileExplorer open UNC and I can see all the shares. But as soon as I select one, I get ERROR: ACCESS DENIED. I tIhink I have found the problem. Using the security logs on XP Professional Box, I see that the Windows Mobile 6 is trying to login remotely using an account (username, password) that I deleted long ago. Apparently, Windows Mobile 6 will not give you the opportunity to change credentials if they are not accepted by the share. You just get 'Error- Access Denied' and that's that. While running Memory-Map its battery unfortunately reached that level after only about 3 hours into a walk I was recording (via a Bluetooth GPS receiver). On restarting it later in its recharging cradle, I assumed I would still have the GPS track up to that point, but no.     - Location Finder on HTC Touch cellphone (WM6) Hi - Recently purchased the HTC Touch, i used to have a Nokia N series prior (which i gave to my father), I live in India and travel a lot by trains for my job/ personal. ( not the local, but from city to city.. combination of cost and fear of flying ...) anyways, one of the features on the Nokia used to be the cell tower information that can be displayed on the phone and each time as i cross to a different area, i get the location on my cellphone and doze of to sleep saying to myself, ok another 4 hrs to go. But for the life of me, although HTC Touch is such a cool looking smartphone, this one feature is not there. I have tried various apps like Mobiletracker, Tinygps, googlemaps (my location), but gives no inclination on the same and does not provide the information atleast something that can be displayed on the "Today" screen . no major issue, but would be pretty cool if it could be done on the HTC Touch, lemme know, if any of you folks have any similar apps for Windows Mobile 5 or 6 applications that can be integrated to this.     - problems sending mail Hi all, I have 2 ppcs that have problems. the first is a hp4150. Problem with this one is that I can send and receive mail but when I try to create a new a/c an try to send an e-mail a message comes up saying 'system administrator (this message is on the FROM line) - invalid message recipients' (on the subject line) The following recipients are invalid......then has the e-mail address I was trying to send to (in the text area). This ppc has an old version of skype installed that I use and hope isn't the cause as I don't think the newer versions of skype will work on this model. The other software I have installed that may be causing the problem is Navman software but I use frequently. The other ppc is a hp4700 the problem with this one is that I can't send any emails at all (receiving is ok). Thought it may have been my router so went to a mates home and tested it there but the same problems occur. Does anyone have any ideas as to the problem. I know the hp4700 has worked in the past because it used to belong a friend who sold to it to me when he upgraded. The only thing I've added is tom tom. The 2nd problem with the hp4700 is that I can't install 'skype' on it. Message says something like 'not a windows or Microsoft application.' What really weird is that when my friend owned it he had skype installed and it worked fine. Tried to locate an old version of skype to see if it would make any difference but all the versions I've seen are current. I'd really appreciate some help if anyone knows what the problems could be.     - Contacts deleted, can they be recovered? Hi folks, We have come across a problem and need some help. What happened is the one of our user's old Windows Mobile phone (HTC 8525) was setup to sync Mail, Calendar and Tasks with Exchange but to sync his Contacts with Outlook on his PC (don't ask, I don't recall why this was done). He switched phones some time ago but we realized he still needed the contacts from his phone. To ensure there were no issues with his current Outlook contacts, we setup AS and an Outlook profile on a new machine. We connected the phone and were prompted to setup a relationship. We accepted the default sync settings as noted above and started a sync. Everything appeared to be going well then for an unknown reason, Outlook and then the whole computer hung. After we rebooted and disconnected the phone, we discovered all but two of the contacts have been wiped from from the phone. None of the contacts are in Outlook either. There is no SIM in this phone as it's not active so I am certain the contacts weren't saved there. Is there ANY way to recover the missing contacts? Of course, as with any issue that occurs, it's with the one person you don't want to have problems with ... it's our CEO's old phone and there was no backup! TIA for any help or suggestions.     - Help! ActiveSync "Attention required" when not admin Hi, I have recently taken my account out of the administrators group (now a requirement from my employer). ActiveSync no longer resolves anything and shows"Attention required" on categories. If I am administrator, it works fine. Otherwise it doesn't doesn't sync anything, and there is no indication of what is the problem.. This PPC has Pocket PC 2003 and the computer has Office 2003. I have tried: Reboot PC and PPC. Restore partnership. Reinstall ActiveSync. Reinstall Office. Checked for "no access" messages with Sysinternals Process Monitor. (There are none) And quite a few other folklore recipies from the Internet. Is there any way to find out exactly what is causing this message and failure to sync? I am stuck.     - Active Sync 4.5, WM6, Outlook 2003: Not Displaying All Outlook I have a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop with Office 2003, Active Sync 4.5 and an AT&T/Cingular 8525 running Windows Mobile 6.0. We are using Direct Push for email syncing with an Exchange/Windows 2003 Server. There is a subfolder to my Inbox that will not display for synchronization when I open Active Sync (in the computer while my Pocket PC is plugged in and synchronized) and click: Tools > Options, select: E-mail under Microsoft Exchange > Settings > Select Folders. When I try to add a folder (directly under the Inbox) on the PC, exit Active Sync 4.5 and open again, go back to Select Folders -- no new folders will appear in the list to choose for synching. I am not syncing all of the subfolders, only some of them. But I need to sync this one folder. I'm concerned because no new folders will display in the list. There are quite a few folders and subfolders, way over 50. Is there some kind of limit to the number of folders that Active Sync will look at?     - POP Hotmail I'm trying to set up my Hotmail account in my Pocket PC iPAQ HP 6515. I can receive all emails but when I reply or create a new email, I get an error saying my settings are not correct or I have no signal. I also have another POP email account (from my server provider Bluewin) in there and it works just fine. I think the problem is in the port settings: I cannot find where to set them, even if I've heard port 25 for outgoing mail might be blocked to avoid spam. By the way, I'm also using Outlook Express with my PC and I can perfectly use Hotmail as a POP account as well as in the OE interface. I am a Hotmail Plus subscriber. Either an email they receive is blank (except the title and who itâ??s from) 2. The email they receive appears and then disappears right before there eyes. Has anyone come across this before ?     - HTC Touch Cruise: Outlook/MMS/SMS won't start! Hi, I just got a HTC Touch Cruise a couple of months ago and everything was working fine until one day My messaging client stopped working. It simply wouldn't respond to any of the shortcuts I had pointing to it. That means outlook/mms/sms functions seized to work. I performed a "Clear Storage" via Windows Mobile 6 and it fixed it but I had to reset everything... A week later the same thing happened and the only way to get it to work was yet another reset.     - Problems with ActiveSync Hello, I had installed ActiveSync 4.0. I didn't use for a long time - today I tried to install new PocketPC program - I started ActiveSync - it crushed. I tried to installed new version 4.5 - I am getting a message: "The wizard was interrupted before Microsofr ActivesYNC 4.5 could be completly installed. Please run setup again". When I run wizard again - I am getting the same message. So I decided first to uninstall existing version - uninstall failed. I used uninstall utilility Advanced Uninstall - now according to Advanced Uninstall ActiveSync is not installed, according to Control Panel - it is, although when I click on it - I don't see option Remove. I have a Samsung i760 running Windows Mobile 6 Professional. I can make
changes to the "My Text" preset text messages but they always revert back to
the defaults after shutting down and powering back on the phone.

Oddly enough, using a registry editor I was able to successfully add a *new*
preset message without it being erased after a reboot.

Any ideas on what's going on and what I can do to correct this behavior?
