What happens to a PPC when you start using a Bluetooth Keyboard with it?

It becomes a Pockets PC. (Note: you add an 's' to "Pocket" to make it
plural)

My BT KB:

Note: The graphics on the above site do not show that it is part of the
keyboard that is holding up the PPC.

Huh? You want to translate that into english?

I made the mistake of buying one of them a couple of years ago.

Do yourself a favor: get rechargeable batteries......the thing has
no off swtich so it eats batteries.

Another option is to get a regular keyboard.

The way it supports the ppc is very flimsy. Looks like it would
break if I looked at it. So I got a plastic stand to put the
ppc on instead of using the keyboard holder for the ppc.

Interesting: it now comes with rechargeable batteries.
Something mine didn't come with and I had to buy
on my own.

I don't put a Bluetooth keyboard in the same pocket as my Pocket PC. With
the keyboard it takes Two PocketS instead of one, making it a PocketS PC.
Is that good enough?

I'd like to do that but I haven't found a BT device I need for that. I
would need something that accepts a PS2 keyboard and converts that to BT.

Yes it is flimsy but it is still better than nothing.

One of the things I did was buy the regular keyboard for the Ipaq,
the BT keyboard was eating batteries at the time and I
hadn't gotten the idea to try rechargeables.

Actually nothing is probably better. I just place the Ipaq on the
table or on a plastic holder that I picked up at Staples.

(the holder was originally made for holding business cards.)

The point is the Ipaq holder on the BT keyboard will break,
it's only a question of when. Looks very fragile and
i'll start using it when HP commits to fixing it. And that
will happen just after they fix the battery problem.

So how did you connect a "regular keyboard" to an iPAQ? I am very
interested. TIA. I'd just love to connect an old AT keyboard to it,
especially since I have an extra one laying around.

I'll look into that myself and thanks for the idea.

Oh, you mean add an off switch. Yeah, I noticed HP does not like to let you
shut off iPAQ either.

BTW my BT KB came with recharagables but it was a brand I've never heard of
before.

It plugs into the bottom of the ipaq.

(HP sells a regular non BT keyboard for the Ipaq.)

>I'll look into that myself and thanks for the idea.
Note that it is Bluetooth so you can use the keyboard
and have the ipaq a short distance away on say a
shelf.

And it kills the batteries in less than 2 weeks.

My keyboard came with no batteries. (Guess HP heard our complaints.)

Sometimes I find a person's explanation of a joke much funnier than the joke
itself.

If you want one of the absolute coolest BT keyboards that work not only with
PPC (I also use it on my laptop with a BT dongle), but is rechargable and
fits in a pocket/same pocket as the PDA
http://www.virtual-laser-keyboard.com/ <---- if nothing else see the
pictures on the site of it in use.. it is really cool!

Note thay have both BT and USB models... For the pda, make sure it is the BT
one.....

WOW! Thanks for the heads up on that device because I might just get one.

I have one of those too, and it is nice, BUT, I have never had anyone who
touch types like it. There is absolutely no tactile feedback, and you cannot
rest your fingers 'on the keys'. You must float your fingers a fair distance
above the surface to not trigger a key press. I am not a touch typist, so it
doesn't bother me.
Peter Pan may respond that he/she is a touch typist and has adjusted, but as
I said, I have shown it to many and it is universally disliked, by those
that can actually type. Just an FYI, as they aren't cheap.

Thank you for that info. While I am a "touch typist" that has never stopped

I just noticed that HTC has a new BT KB in the works. It makes me think
they designed for the HTC Touch since it is so small.

Nope, I'm a hunt and pecker..... love the wow effect (sound effects/click,
when a keypress is made/accepted), and sure is cool to pull out at a client,
or during a meeting (and beats the heck out of trying to type with a
stylus!).... There was a few messages about pockets/pocketS, and it just
made a neuron fire since I carry it in the same pocket as my PDA
(pockets/S... I don't need no steenking pockets! :)

Did you see the size of it? credit card sized.... I have fat fingers!

not BT, but I also use a pretty cool product called phatpad (lets you
handwrite stuff with the stylus and then save/email it, like things that
don't require me to hook em up, always lose wires..... :)

It is clearly too small for fingers and too big for a stylus so I was
thinking, maybe the back end of the stylus would work.

BTW I saw something on the internet a while back where a guy had a Thumb
surgically altered so he could use it with an iPhone. I'll look around for
that link later because I think I might have saved it.

Interesting. BTW I have used the Transcriber that comes with WM5 & WM6
quite a bit already and have had good luck with it so I still use that from
time to time.
