    - Upgrading my Pocket PC's OS... Need some wisdom. I have an iPaq H3800 (ARM SA1110) that is currently running M$ PPC 3.0 I've done some poking around on the net for a while and I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself. Since my main machine runs Vista, apparently it cant sync with the OS that is currently running on my iPaq. I also just got a 2gb SD card for it, but it only recognizes 1gb. So I'm thinking an OS upgrade might solve these and some other problems. However, the documentation on WinCE and/or Windows Mobile is scattered and convoluted... with the changing in names as well as calling them sometimes by version number 3.0 and sometimes the year 2005 etc I don't even know what i need. Then once i discover what i need, i have no idea where to acquire the software and if it will in the end work with this older device or just turn it into a paperweight. I've looked into my options regarding Linux distros that are compatible too. If i can just get windows to work then i would rather brave that path first.     - Charging 2210 battery? Using my Bluetooth-linked GPS unit with my iPAQ 2210 Pocket PC has the serious downside that the 1000 mAH battery runs out after 3 hours or so, nowhere near long enough for a day's walking/hiking. I'm looking at a higher capacity battery (3300 mAH) but that has the disadvantage that the 2210 would no longer fit its leather case. So an alternative I'd like to explore is using conventional (alkaline or NiMH) batteries. The lithium ion battery is apparently 3.7V. The DC power unit plug that fits the cradle I use when at home reads 5.28V on my meter. So a 6V set of 4 AA or C or D cells are candidates, possibly with a diode in series. Has anyone tried this please? I'm assuming there's protective circuitry to maintain the appropriate voltage anyway. Presumably the lithium ion battery in place would get charged simultaneously?     - 2210 - high capacity battery? I'm considering buying a 3.7v 2200 mAh (high capacity) battery for my iPAQ 2210, on ebay, for when I'm using it with my Bluetooth-linked GPS unit. Anyone here have any experience of these please? It comes with an oversize replacement battery cover, and presumably won't then fit my Krusell leather case (which at best has about 1/10" slack). Are there special cases for these?     - Unrecognized CF Card My CF slot worked fine until I tried using a 2 GB CF card. Now it no longer recognizes any CF memory card or any other CF device including WF Wireless LAN Card and CF GPS Receiver. Hard reset did nor solve. Using the Resco Registry Editor it appears that the CF driver is missing. My SD slot works fine. I don't need CF for memory, but I would like to be able ro use my wireless LAN CF card and my GPS CF Card which had worked until I tried that 2GB CF flash memory card. . Registry shows SD card driver and other stuff, but no CF driver info. It just seems strange that it would suddenly quit working after trying a 2 GB CF card. I found a post on HP site about CF problems caused by wrong comm port being assigned to CF card and it told where to look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/DRIVERS/ACTIVE. The SD card was in registry, but no CF card. But under DRIVERS/ACTIVE/BLOCKED, it appears that Samsung Flash driver is blocked.     - Entering recurring events into WM6 PDA I enter recurring events such as birthdays into my HP iPaq 112 PDA. For some reason when I enter the start date any date before 2001 when I save it and check the event it tells me that it's started at 2001, say 20/10/2001 when it should be say, 20/10/1980. I have to put an end date, which say for my daughter's birthday, is a tad disconcerting. So I put in a date 100 years from now. Anyone else had this problem. I'm running Windows Mobile 6 Classic.     - Sound from PC to Pocket PC Hi All. I have researched this topic to death, and on a few times came pretty close to success. What I would like to accomplish is get my PC's sounds to my Tilt. I do not mean my music and movies, I can do that just fine with Orb. What I would like is something that brings all sounds on my PC to my Tilt. I tried Windows Media Encoder and got it to work, to my laptop and other computers, but I can not pick up the stream with my Tilt, not in the WMP I get a bad parameter error. I tried at least 4 other audio streaming programs to pick up that stream from my Windows Media Encoder, no luck. I also have www.logmein.com pro which works just great, but thier product does not send sound. So, I have decided to ask the community here if anyone has successfully brought "What you hear" sounds from your home computer to your Pocket PC. (I have a mac at home too maybe that has a solution,) seems like it should be kind of easy, but for me it is not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also try another program called PeekPocket which seems to suggest there are other wifi sites around available ( which the windows wifi doesnt pickup ) The only thing is, say when peekpocket finds a wifi site, i dont think there is a "connect to" option for it!     - ActiveSync Botching Outlook Read/Unread Status I'm running WM6, syncing via ActiveSync 4.5.0 to Outlook 2003. I have it setup to sync my Outlook mail (directly, not via an Exchange server, since I'm only using Outlook for POP/SMTP). If I mark a message in the inbox as "read" on the PDA, then sync, the message is correctly marked as "read" within Outlook. If I move a message from the inbox to another folder on the PDA, then sync, the message is correctly moved to the target folder within Outlook. HOWEVER - if I read a message in the inbox on the PDA, then move it to a folder (either from within the message itself, or from the message list), then sync, the message is moved to the target folder but it is NOT marked as read in Outlook. So, I wind up with unread messages all over my folder tree. Any idea how this can be fixed? RE:Windows Mobile 6.0 I have a text message dialogue in my "Messaging" program that I need to move off the phone and save/print and I don't see any options for that! I must be missing it. I'm feeling like a numb-skull here. I'm sorry for the mundane, but I don't want to leave anything out. First: I go to programs and select "Messaging." Second: My inbox is selected and there is only one text message in it, which is highlighted by default. My options are "New" and "Menu." So I select Menu and the only options I have available to me are: "Delete, Reply, New MMS, Call Sender, Sort, Purge, Options" The "Forward..." and "Copy to Saved" options are both dimmed and cannot be selected. Why is that? Did I do something to cause that? Third: I open the actual message by clicking on it and my options are: "Send' and "Menu." The menu gives me the following options: "Add Media, My Text, Emoticons, Message Options, Call Sender." The remaining options, including Forward and Copy to saved are dimmed and cannot be selected! How frustrating! I just want to print the dialogue and save it! Any ideas as to why I can't do that? I know...I know....PEBKAC: Except now we must consider that there is no keyboard and the chair is optional. Is there a temporary work-around? Perhaps text message files that I can just copy over, or a database I can access after copying over? Please feel free to set me straight on ANYTHING! I learn whenever possible.
