I'm a Palm user and I am considering moving to a Windows Mobile
device. I currently use Palm Desktop on my Windows PC for contacts and
calendar, and sync to the Palm. Works great.

I really don't want to run Outlook. If I buy a windows mobile device,
are there alternatives to Outlook for syncing?

Not particularly good ones, and nothing that will sync to Palm Desktop. A
few third party apps exist to sync with Thunderbird, Google calendar or
Yahoo, but frankly if you plan to use WinMo, I'd suggest getting comfortable
with Outlook.
