    - Word completion dictionary editor for WM6? I'm considering the purchase of a WM6 device after a number of years of extensive use of WM5. One of the most useful utilities on my WM5 device was a "Word Completion Dictionary Editor," which I used to add words to the list of suggestions that appear when word completion is enabled (Start > Settings > Personal > Input > Word Completion). I added a variety of words that weren't included in the default dictionary, including surnames, e-mail addresses, industry terminology, and so on. I've been playing with an emulated WM6 device, and WM6 does not support the utility. Web searches have made it clear that none of the dictionary editors that worked on WM5 are working on WM6 devices, emulated or real. Does anyone know a solution to this issue? Possible solutions could include: * a method for editing WM6's (evidently well-hidden) dictionary file manually * a referral to an updated or new editor that works with WM6, preferably freeware. I know that a functional word completion dictionary editor would not strike many people as a killer app, but the nature of the work I do on my mobile device makes it an absolute necessity. cheers Tag: HP hx2490 Tag: 490564

    - eten Glofiish x800 vs Tilt Need to spend out some money by mid June, and I'm looking to meld my Pocket PC (my Toshiba e350 is spiralling down) with my phone. I'm very comfy with the platform. I'm looking at the Glofiish x800, but hear its a bit low in terms of RAM, so it's making me compare to the Tilt. Also, the HTC touch diamond is looming, but mid June would be my natural cutoff.     - Shortcut to My Device? On my old PC I used to have an item in my XP Home 'Send To' folder which would let me send a file to my Pocket PC. In an Explorer folder I would r-click, select Send To, then choose My Device (or something like that), and I could then browse to the PPC target folder.     - PocketPc SD card I have Windows mobile 5 installed, on a Mio P550 Pocket pc. I have just had a repair done including a new motherboard. But since |I got it back I cannot copy or paste to my sd card, it says it is write protected. Although I have no problems copy and pasting when the sd card is inserted in my desktop. Does anyone know if there is a way to change settings, to allow writing to memory card on the pocket pc. It runs the sd card ok, and will install programmes from it. just wont allow to write to it.     - Problems with TCPMP on Ipaq 211, WM 6 I installed TCPMP ver 0.71 on my new Ipaq 211. It is working OK, but each time I try to exit this application (through exit or stopping application in setting-system-memory) - Ipaq crushes.     - Music on an iPAQ I just purchased an HP iPAQ 211 running Windows Mobile 6. There are a couple of programs that I use to listen to music on my desktop -- Pandora and radioio -- but I can't get them to play on my iPAQ. I am guessing it is because they use Adobe Flash Player which, I don't believe, came with my iPAQ. Is there any way I can get these programs working?     - How to copy programs from Ipaq 4700 to Ipaq 211? The USB port on my old Ipaq 4700 is broken. I cannot connect to to PC - but otherwise 4700 is working. I bought new Ipaq 211 and I want to transfer all programs from 4700 to 211. I have a backup of 4700 - but on 211 there is no backup/restore function. I tried to run restore from 4700 on 211 (backup/restore is installed on a flash memory) - but it failed. My first problem - how to transfer the contact list from 4700 to 211?     - Macro program? Can anyone recommend programs for my iPAQ 2210 (WM2003) which would let me run a program at say 5 minute intervals to apply operations to another running program please? IOW run a 'macro' at set intervals? This is to get around a serious deficiency in my Memory-Map program. It doesn't take a backup when it closes, nor does it allow automatic scheduled backups. So, to minimise the risk of losing a GPS recording during a walk, I have to regularly manually save a backup file. So in effect I need two things: 1) A simple version of the System Scheduler on my desktop PC 2) A macro program Ideally these functions would be combined, but I suspect two separate programs will be needed.     - Installing a new font (partially) changes the default system font Hi, I am installing additional fonts on a japanese windows mobile 5.0 device (or emulator) and came across the following behavior. After installing a new japanese font everything remains the same except for the kanji at the left side of the clock page. This page can be reached by tapping onto the clock on the main page. This kanji is now displayed using the newly installed font. I also witnessed this behavior on c++ programs that do not directly specify inside their resource files which font they want to use.     - Edits to preset text messages don't stick I have a Samsung i760 running Windows Mobile 6 Professional. I can make changes to the "My Text" preset text messages but they always revert back to the defaults after shutting down and powering back on the phone. Oddly enough, using a registry editor I was able to successfully add a *new* preset message without it being erased after a reboot.     - problem in VOIP Application I am having a VOIP application. I am recording and playing voice buffers simultaneously using threads. I am using the Wavein and waveout api's for recording and playback in C ++. After recording I encode the buffer and send it over network, to the receiver, where the receiver receives the buffer, decodes it and plays it. There are queues of buffers, for recording and playback. The problem is that I have lot of breaks and some noise when I playback, rather than having a smooth stream played back.     - Pocket PC 2003 and Avalanche problems Can anyone help me with a problem that I am running into? We are running windows mobile 2003 on a bunch of hand held scanners. We are also using Avalanche to connect to our Terminal server and to lock the users out of the operating system. It keeps asking us to re-install .net on the local hand held scanner and if you say no it kills the connection to the server. Is there any way to get this to install automatically on the local hand held(Intermec) instead of having it ask if we want to over write the files.     - Palm Treo 700wx/Windows Mobile 5/Windows Vista Home Premium I have had this Treo since September 2007. In December 2007 I got a new HP Notebook that came with Windows Vista Home Premium x86. I then installed WMDC 6.1 and have been able to synchronize the device with Windows Vista using the cable with no issues. I recently purchased a bluetooth adapter that you stick in the USB port. I installed the drivers for it and successfully created a new bluetooth partnership. I then deleted the ActiveSync partnership on the device and delete the partnership on Windows Mobile Device Center. I did a soft reset on the device and restarted the computer. Then I attached the cable to the phone and attached the other end to the computer. I did an initial sync and established a new partnership. After I did that I then disconnected the cable. Then I went to the Windows Mobile Device Center to see how to connect using bluetooth. I followed the directions and I am unable to connect using bluetooth.     - Searching calendar for events and the today screen and upcoming events. I have an HP iPaq running Windows Mobile 6. I cannot find the option to allow me to search the calendar for events or appointments. I presume that there would be such a function, but if WM6 has one I'm stuffed if I can find it. It was one of the first menu option on my now retired Palm Zire (PalmOS). I naturally assumed that WM6 would have such a basic feature. Also, when I turn the iPaq on the Today screen will show today's events, and if there are any events happening soon, say tomorrow or in a couple of days time then they will be displayed. But only if they have start/end times. All day events aren't shown, except if they're happening today. Is there any way to get those all day events to display in the Today screen?     - Keeping the bluetooth link alive with my car system Hi all Has anybody encountered this problem and found a solution? I have a HTC 3600 WM5 phone (aka the Trinity) and an Audi A6 with cell phone 'preparation'). This has both a physical connection (for Nokia) and a bluetooth one. I have successfully paired the phone with the BT hands free thingy in the car. This works fine once or twice after the initial pairing. Thereafter, phone and car mate successfully on switching on but the connection then drops out after 2 minutes. I can remake the connnection by initiating a call from the handset. If I do this, the connection remains live for the rest of the journey. If I try to anticipate the problem by initiating the call within the initial two minute linked period, it still drops it at the 2 minute point! It's hard to know if this is a phone or car problem. I do have other cars with bluetooth connectivity but they are basic (Nokia car kits) with much less functionality so I can't tell if there is a similar problem - but I suspect not. However, my wife has a similar HTC phone running WM6 - and this does not drop the connection. There are some other differences too but I won't bother you with these unless someone tells me they might be significant. Anyone encountered this? Anything I can do about it?
