    - WINCE 5.0 Library Problem I have built two OSs. The first was marked for development use, so I included just about everything using the "New Platform Wizard". The second, my choices were more restrictive. I noticed the missing libraries in the packing list provided along with the SDK install file (*.msi). The specific ones that were giving my link errors were ws2.lib and mmtimer.lib. Packing list for development OS = included many libraries. Packing list for restricted OS = only ATL and MFC...not even coredll.lib was there! What am I missing!! (adding the library in the "settings..." Link tab didn't help) I have looked at all the components, but nothing is jumping out at me.     - two card NIC test failing on ne2000 Has anyone had problems with the two card NIC CETK test failing on the standard NE2000 driver ? I've got a cf card which is NE2000 compatible. It passes all of the 1 card tests and 5 of the 6 two card tests, but late in the test #4 (multicast receive), it gets unexpected packets through the filter. It happen the couple of times I've run the test so far. Before I dig into what I hoped was an off the shelf standard driver, has anyone already hit this ?     - 5.0 WiFi network dropping IP Hello, I have a problem wrt wireless networking. I create an image that includes the Cisco 340/350 driver, load it into the device, boot, connect to the access point, obtain an IP address as seen through the network dialog, try to surf but get a 404 - page not found. It's like it is trying but just can't get there. I have checked that the WINS/DNS/Default Route/etc. and they all look fine. Running ipconfig shows the correct information as well. I can ping the device itself (localhost and assigned IP) but nothing else, not the router or other internal or external IP addresses. The ping error code is 11010, whatever that means. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so how was it resolved? I am thinking there may be a catalog feature or some sysgen variable that is required but am at a loss currently.     - WinCe 3.0/WinCe 5.0 download/boot compatibility had a system with a side-by-side installation of WinCe3.0 and WinCe4.2. This worked fine. Now I installed addtionally WinCe5.0. I did not find any problems with WinCe4.2. But now I cannot boot a CEPC from my Desktop. The download work fine, but it hangs by booting with the following last lines: ... KdInit Done Loaded symbols for '...\RELDIR\X86_DEBUG\COREDLL.DLL' Did not find emulation code for x86... using floating point hardware.     - Pocket PC 2003 LSP Install Inconsistent Dear gurus, We're running the passthru-type winsock Layered Service Provider based on the Platform Builder 4.2 sample code on an iPAQ of the recent vintage. Two Pocket PC (as opposed to vanilla WinCE 4.2) changes Microsoft recommended have indeed been applied to the code. When the LSP is installed on the fly (through the INST_LSP program supplied in the Platform Builder), very few applications load and use the LSP DLL. ActiveSync is among them, however, if started after the LSP install. Internet Explorer is not, even if started afterwards. The device.exe and services.exe are not either which is understandable due to the very helpful blog by Igor Dvorkin, thanks a lot: http://blogs.msdn.com/cenet/archive/2004/12/07/277890.aspx Ok, when the install code is transferred to the DllRegisterServer() export within the DLL itself and the WS2 Registry is configured appropriately, the device.exe and services.exe do in fact start loading and using the LSP DLL upon the soft restart. Moreover, some of the other apps like the platform manager (cemgrc.exe), process viewer (cepwcli.exe), VC++ Spy (cespycli.exe) load and use the LSP as well. However, most applications like ActiveSync and Internet Explorer do not. What might be the reason? The LSP needs to observe all the sockets, not just some. I see that the ssllsp.dll is in fact loaded and used by virtually all relevant apps. What does it do differently? The LSP of mine is installing itself over all base providers for the time being, just like the sample code. The DllRegisterServer() reports no install issues anywhere, and the run-time trace seems reasonable when the DLL is used. The DllRegisterServer() returns S_OK, just like the real server registration. The applications that we build with eVC 4.0 fail to run if they are placed in MODULES section of the bib file.     - Ethernet troubles with DHCP Hi, When I start up a WinCE 4.1 CEPC image with the Ethernet cable removed it fails to establish connection with DHCP and defaults to some preset values. When I connect the cable, the icon in the lower right tray removes it's red X indicating the Ethernet is now working. But 'properties' still show default values and the 'renew' button fails to get updated information from the DHCP server. A reboot of the unit results in proper connectivity. What can/should be done to establish DHCP connectivity after booting when the DHCP server is unavailable?     - Unloading the application I want to load an application during the boot process. Under the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Init, i added by application. As the image loaded, my application ran.     - WinCE File Server question I've got a question about the File Server component in WinCE 5.0. I've set up a file server and can access it fine from the network that the CE device is connected to. My question is: Does WinCE support permissions (i.e. read-only, read-write) on the shares exported by the file server? It's not a configuration option in the Remote Administration tool (unless I've forgotten to add some component that gives me that ability). It seems that once a user has access to a CE device, they have read/write access to anything on the shares of the device. When I disable the EHCI controller in BIOS and use only the UHCI controller everthing works well. But when I enable the EHCI controller my platform does sometimes not regocnize when I attach or detach a USB device. I have already included the code for the EHCI and 64bit-Extension posted here a few weeks ago. The uhci.dll and ehci.dll are loaded. Perhaps someone can tell me some experiences with that chipset.     - PEAP Fast Reconnect in CE .NET 4.2 Hi, We have customers who insist on keeping the Fast Reconnect option enabled for PEAP authentication. Our wireless terminal is running CE .NET 4.2, QFE level 2004-Q3. On a warm/cold boot the terminal associates and connects properly. In this case a full handshake conversation takes place. However if the wireless terminal roams or suspends/resumes then it cannot connect anymore. QFE 030930_KB827824 confirms that PEAP Fast Reconnect is not supported in CE .NET 4.2 and specifies in the "More Information" section that: "The fix that is in this update does not add support for PEAP Fast Reconnect to Windows CE .NET. The fix only enables PEAP authentication to continue when the fast reconnection attempt is unsuccessful." When the authentication fails the debug captured from our wireless device shows that: - PEAP phase 1: the session resumption is successful - when phase 2 starts the PEAP server attempts to do fast reconnect (as a result of the successful session resumption in phase 1) - the peer receives the packet: - EAP Request 0x01 - message ID 0x32 (for this particular case) - PEAP version 0 - TLS version 1 - TLS packet content type 0x17 Application Data - TLS data (encrypted) - the peer decrypts the data and detects that the server attempts fast reconnect (this is spelled out in the debug message) - the peer builds a fail response - however the response message ID is 0x04 whereas it is supposed to match the request ID - the response is transmitted - the authenticator (i.e. access point) discards the fail response (see below excerpt form RFC 3748) - the PEAP server does not receive any response and the conversation fails RFC 3748 (EAP) states in section 4.1: "The authenticator is also responsible for discarding Response messages with a non-matching Identifier value before acting on them in any way, including passing them on to the backend authentication server for verification." So apparently the peer although does attempt to continue the conversation it fails to respond correctly as per EAP specs and the whole authentication fails. I should mention that the server is Cisco Secure ACS v3.3 running on a Windows 2003 Server box (although this detail should be irrelevant in this case). Any updates on this issue will be appreciated. When the user installs software in \Windows or any other directory, these files should still be there after a shutdown/restart.     - SA1111 compatibility mode in the PXA250/255 - the SDRAM interface for the PXA250/255 has an "SA1111 compatibiltiy mode" WHY? the SA1111 interfaces to the SDRAM a bit differently than the PXA255. Both devices drive the same SDRAM for DMA transfers. So they both must be hooked up the same way. So the PXA255 has a bit you can set that allows you to change the wiring slightly on the SDRAM to match the SA1111. (it involves swapping 2 bits). - I swapped these bits and switched SDRAM to "normal mode". (bit12 of mdcnfg). This should theoretically not be a problem unless the SA1111 trys to do a DMA transfer. DRAM : 2x13x9x32 (bank,row,col,buswidth) - RESULT : the diagnositics crash when doing the SDRAM test. (The SA1111 MBREQ pin in inactive in this test) What am I missing here?     - cf card storage driver in 5.0 my device work with different lan cards now, thanks everybody. and now, a different problem. seems storage card is detected as i can see it in control panel->system->expansion card, but i can't see any thing in storage properties. one card do show partition there but i can't mount it. and i can't see active sync in the device. control panel -> connections-> make new connection, direct connection is in gray. in 4.2 these was fairly easy so i guess there's some missing feature in my project?     - Wireless Preferred list lost on reset HI all, I am developing an ARMV4I based CE V4.2 headless platform with wireless networking support. We are able to connect to a network and access it using wzctool. The system is using a Hive-based registry. The problem we are now trying to solve is this: Set the device up to connect to a network and place that connection in the preferred list. Sometime later power off the device. Power up the device. At this point we would like it to connect to the previous network which appears at the top of the preferred list, but no connection is made. In fact, when queried there is no preferred list for the card. Which part of Windows CE is responsible for keeping the preferred list (wzcsvc) and how do I make it permanent across a reset? After struggling with registry and other settings as described in the mentioned documentation (Help file), and searching on the internet, I found the PB documentation is based on CE 4.2 and NOT suitable for 5.0. want to input some Chinese words ,but I cannot turn on the SIP by pressing
CTL+SPACE on the keyboard. Should I write some code to turn SIP on?

Were you able to turn on the SIP before you replaced the shell?
I want to narrow down the problem to your shell and not the matter of right
image not being built...
