    - my build process and error Hey all, I posted on March 21-23 about what build.exe does. I have some more questions about my customized build process. 1. I am trying to do the following: Set environment variables to use command line to build win ce image: I changed _DEPTREES to not include my project as I wanted to build all the win ce libraries and image files with 'cebuild.bat clean'. I then manually build my subprojects using build.exe. Then I run buildrel.bat to copy all files to release directory. *** Get bunch of warning about files not existing.     - Multiple IP addresses on one adapter (Need to get Mr. Tobey's Attention) I was searching through some posts on using multiple IP addresses on a single adapter, and I came upon a few responses from Paul Tobey. You cracked me up. It is funny that you were starting to get a bunch of these questions, and here I am with the same question. Well, I already found out how to do it, but was wondering if you think my use of two IP addresses is appropriate or not. I have a wince device with one network card. I have a switch. I have a IP based radio in bridge mode between its wired and wireless adapter. The CE device, Switch, and radio are all built into a single case. The CE Device and radio BOTH have web servers to configure their settings. The CE device and radio are both hooked to the switch. In adding a bunch more of these to the network, we effectively get a big network of Radios and CE devices. My idea is to set the radios configuration IP to a fixed 10.x.x.x address, along with one address of the CE device's adapter. The other CE devices IP address will be whatever the user wants it as. By doing things this way, the user will not be able to get to the radio web page (We want to handle the configuration of the radio through our software), unless he changes the ip of his web browsers machine. This also eases the configuration difficulties of having to manage a network with both radios and devices. Does anyone see a better way to do this? Thanks, Tom Kuhn Tag: PB install question ..     - display : bottom lines was shown at top Clear DayHi all, I am working on the LCD display driver for PXA300. The driver works fine except the screen was not aligned to the screen physical left-up conner. In portrait mode, the MS logo is not displayed at (0,0), but instead displayed at (0,5), and the part which should displayed at (0,315)-(239,319) is displayed at (0,0)-(239,4).     - Is Postlink.bat functional in CE 6.0? I'm trying to convert a BSP from 5.0 to 6.0. This looks to be a manual task as the command line based, CEC import tool does not produce anything but errors. I have added one precompiled driver from my 5.0 BSP to my 6.0 tree as a test case. There is no source for this driver, just the .dll file and associated .reg and .bib files. I modified the Catalog file (.pbcxml) to include the driver. It is visible in the Catalog and selected to be part of the build. V5.0 required the precompiled .dll and the associated .reg file to be copied to the _FLATRELEASEDIR using POSTLINK.BAT. This methodology does not appear to work in 6.0 but there is no documentation that I can find regarding a change in this regard. Am I missing something?     - CEPC USB Support Hi All, I am reposting this for the attention of all USB exports. I enabled the USB UHCI and EHCI support in CEPC build and loaded the NK.BIN image using loadcepc. Also no legacy USB support in BIOS. But there is no response to any USB device and no pop-up wizard for driver installation. 1) The debug console shows HCD load and there is no specific error reported. 0x83fa1e08: HCD driver DLL attach 0x83fa1e08: HCD!HCD_Init 2) I enabled all the debug zones and the below message is coming periodically CPipe::CheckForDoneTransfersThread - warning! Called when no pipes were busy 3) Also the HCD documentation says, the default HCD module is hard- coded for Ven ID 0x8086 and DEV ID 0x7112. Is this still hold true for CE5.0 ? ( My VEN ID is same, but DEV ID is different ) 4) From the mailing list, I understood the hardcoded value is "UHCD_DEVICE_ID_PIIX4" in UHCD.C for CE3.0.     - Windows CE memory release Dear Greats, We are working on Windows CE 5.0 Operating system, Explorer template. (AMD Au1200, Board Support Package) is used. We have written one simple application main() { char * strTemp = new char[10]; getch() delete [] strTemp } The problem we are observing is, After 'new" two heaps of 4K is created (This we have monitored in using Entrek ProcMan tool). One 4K heap has 16 bytes are allocated and left are shown as free space. After "delete", one of the 4K heap is deleted but the additional heap created is not deleted. Kindly any one of you can guide us on solving this problme. because of this the system memory is growing up and ending in a crash. Can we use HeapCompact call to clear up this process memor?     - USB HCD for SH7760 Hello I'm asking for some advice. Did anybody develop an USB HCD device for SH4 processors? I've made it, on the basis of source code from Microsoft (c:\WINCE500\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\USB\HCD\), but it does not work. I've been solving it for three weeks and I can't find any mistake. After plug in any USB device nothing happens. I thought, that I had some mistake around interrupts, but it seems ok. I don't have any idea how to go on. Are there anybody, who could help me?     - error when doing clean sysgen of new CEPC platform I am trying to create a custom runtime image for a CEPC platform but when I do a build and sysgen for CEPC: x86_Release, I get the following error: NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'renumbericonids' : return code '0xfffffffd' I've tried doing a sysgen, build and sysgen, debug, retail, from PB, from the commandline, etc. Nothing works The platform builds just fine when doing a sysgen for the Emulator though.     - WinCE 4.2 2K Nand Flash got cut/paste problem Hi all, I follow the following email to modify the fsd and fmd driver in WinCE 4.2 two years ago. It works well until two weeks ago. NAND driver and FAT filesystem http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsce.platbuilder... Our customer found one bug. I can repeat the bug by following the below steps. 1. Prepare 70 files in the nand flash folder, size from 1 byte to 100KByte. 2. Cut/paste them to the RAM file system i.e \temp folder. 3. Compare the files with the original files and found that the data become all 0x00 in some of them. I tried to put the original files in the RAM file system i.e. \temp folder and cut/paste them to nand flash folder. The files are all ok. I tried to put the original files in the Nand Flash folder and cut/ paste them to another nand flash folder. The files are ok. I tried to put the original files in the RAM file system i.e. \temp folder and cut/paste them to another RAM files sytem folder i.e. \program files. The files are ok. If the nand flash is 512 page nand flash, it don't have the above bug. So you can only find the bug in 2K page Nand Flash. If the OS is WinCE 5.0, don't have this bug. The summary is that the bug only happened on WinCE 4.2 and 2Kpage Nand Flash. The bug is only happened when cut/paste from 2K sector size FAT file system to 512 sector size FAT file system.     - Poor performance of diskcache.dll? Hi all, My company makes a GPS platform based on WinCE 5.0 S3C2440. It has 64MB of NAND flash, which is more than enough to fit the mapping application. However, the map database is fairly large and requires a 1GB SD card. No problem. However, when the application runs, it slows to a crawl due to the excessively fragmented nature of the file accesses it implements. So, I decided to more carefully examine the caching possibilities of WinCE 5.0. The FATFS caching is handled by PRIVATE\WINCEOS\COREOS\STORAGE\DISKCACHE. After much tracing and message printing I noticed that diskcache's algorithm doesn't have any support for pre-fetching (reading some sectors in advance); so, for each 1-sector request comming from the upper layers, diskcache reads only 1 sector from the disk, if there is a cache miss, and stores only that sector in the buffers; no further read-ahead is done. I cloned and tweaked diskcache to implement a read-ahead of 64 sectors (minimum) and now the application starts beautifully with thousands of cache hits; it is about 10 times faster and actually usable. Am I missing something? Is there any simple configuration that enables the read-ahead feature?     - SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition I can't be the only one confused by SQL Server on mobile devices. I am trying to get the new SQL Server 2005 CE on my Windows CE 5.0 device. In Platform Builder I have SQL Mobile listed as a catalog item. That is what I'm using right now. It comes with .dll files that are dated for 9/2/2005 and version numbers of 3.00.5206.0. This has to be SQL Mobile 3.0. To me it looks like SQL Server 2005 CE has files dated 12/22/2006 and version numbers of 3.00.5300.0. The drivers purpose is simply to write Debug-Messages to a file. I have thoroughly tested the DLL-Entrypoints with a client in user-mode. I'm now tryin to load the driver via ActivateDeviceEx().     - Suspend/resume - exception on resume Hi all, I have posted this issue before ("Suspend/resume causes system halt" on 2/26/07) but now I have slightly better insight about what is happening, so I open it again here. It seems to be related to the presnce of an SD card (sdmemory.dll). I am using the debug version of kern.exe. If I suspend/resume rapidly with an SD card present, after a while I get the following error message: 0x8dfca400: NK Kernel: DEBUGCHK failed in file d:\macallan\private\winceos\coreos\nk\kernel\schedule.c at line 5065 0x8dfca400: DEBUG_BREAK @80062e58 MD=1f Ignored. Now I want to add a fifth type of device, and hence change the implementation of the SD Bus driver to accommodate my specific device type. Also our device can support a large sized card. i.e 32 bit addresses wont cut it for us. Which means that the Bus driver as well as the SDCardDDK will have to be modified. Now what is confusing me is how to package the modified bus driver. The packaging of the client driver and HC driver is straightforward. But for the SD bus driver, should i create a new msi installer, which will patch the original SD bus driver code and appropriate header files, or should I create a completely new catalog item (e.g SDModifiedBus driver) with a separate source folder. I want to know if anyone has any experience of changing the bus driver according to their needs. and if yes how was it packaged in the form of a catalog item or msi Installer.     - No Debug messages while Using Atatic IP Hello all I am using Intel PXA27x board, which is having Mainstaone II platform. Here i am using this board to use it for winCE 6.0. As in WinCE 6.0 we have Mainstone III BSP, so in this BSP i just set one variable SDRAM_SIZE_64_MB=1 in mainstoneiii.bat file. And i am able to download the image to the board via DHCP configured eboot, and also able to debugg it. But when i disable the DHCP in the eboot menu and given the Static IP to that board, then i am not able to get any debug message in my output window of platform builder.and I'm not able to use any tool which uses Kitl and not able to debug the BSP code. 4.2 and 5.0 is not a problem (but I always made sure installing 4.2 BEFORE
5.0).
Then CE5 and CE6 is another thing. We have add problems (for remote tools
for instance) and I would advise installing CE6 on another PC/partition.

Never tried with Vista.
