Why is impossible to install a custom x86 based SDK created using Platform
Builder 5.0 ?
The same error trying to install the STANDARD_SDK.msi coming on the CDROM in
the \eVC\SDK500 directory.

When I install (on different PCs too) I always get the following dialog box
:
'software development tools required to use this SDK for
developing applications are not installed on this dev station .....'

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
TIA

We had a similar problem.

Make sure your "Indexing Service" is turned on.

Access this by right clicking on a drive or folder. If you need to change
it, make sure you propagate the setting through all directory levels.

I enabled the Indexing Service on all drives C: and D: propagating the
setting through all directory levels
then disabled McAfee antivirus too,
always the same error.

Please help !
TIA

On a different PC with Visual Studio .NET 2003 installed there is not the
problem.
Is necessary Visual Studio .NET 2003 for use PB5.0 created SDKs ?

TIA

Let me ask you this. When the dialog is displayed asking you to visit the
Web site and download something, you can close that dialog, right? Can you
continue the SDK installation from that point?

Yes but finally it fails and no SDK is installed and visible from eVC.
The final error is : Windows Script Host "Windows Scripting Host
Initilization failed"

I didn't catch from the chat... Did you try that latest scripting host
download that the MS guy posted the URL for?

I miss it, what is the link ?

Unfortunately, I closed the window already. It was the Windows Scripting
Host version 5.6, as I recall, though. www.microsoft.com/downloads should
be able to find it with that information alone.

I found a link, but a validation is required.
I do not inted install a SPY executable on my machine.

I managed to duplicate the install problem, but the new version of the
scripting host seems to allow the SDK to install (although the popup for
visiting the Web site still occurs). If you're unwilling to accept the
Golden Windows Verification ActiveX, however, I don't know what you're going
to be able to do to fix the problem. I'm sure that's going to be the first
thing a support engineer wants you to install when trying to fix the
problem.

I installed Windows Scripting Host 5.6, and the error is the same !

When I install (on different PCs too) I always get the following dialog box
: 'software development tools required to use this SDK for
developing applications are not installed on this dev station .....'

Ignoring the message, finally it fails and no SDK is installed and visible
from eVC.
The final error is : Windows Script Host "Windows Scripting Host
Initilization failed"

What can I do to install this SDK ?
Is this maybe a strategy to force Platform Builder customers to puchase
Visual Studio .NET ???

TIA

I see no sign whatsoever that this is related to VS.NET. The only option
remaining that I can see is to start a support incident with MS.

The sign is that if I install the SDK on a PC with VS.NET 2003 it works.

And it works on mine with no VS.NET 2003. If you're convinced that it's
VS.NET 2003-related, I suppose that you could regenerate the SDK without
.NET Compact Framework support and see if that matters. I don't see any
sign that that is the case, though.
