[Win CE 5.0]
[MIPSII]

Question:-
Our CPU has SD 1.0.1 spec compliant hardware.

1. Is it possible to update our drivers to support SDHC
without needing HW change ?
2. With SD 1.0.1 host (HW compliance) , can SD host
driver can be upgraded to support bigger SD cards of size (4GB etc., ) ??
FAT 16 --> FAT32 will do the trick ?
3. SDHC support required SD 2.0 compliant Hardware
(mandatory) ? Is there any way to work around using old SD 1.0.1 hardware
and support SDHC ? (atleast detect) ?

Thanks,
Siddarth

If the SD Host Controller can issue CMD8 and receive ResponseR7, I think it's
OK to support SDHC. For example, in PXA270 datasheet, it describes the SD
controller of PXA270 is based on SD spec. 1.01. But after update the WinCE
5.0 QFE, it also can support SDHC.

Hi C.L,

Thanks for the reponse. After checking with my CPU datasheet in detail, I
found CMD8 cannot be issued and RSP 7 cannot be recieved.
I've also applied all QFE(s) till date (July 2008).

thanks,
Siddarth

Mr Erwin/ Mr. CL

I updated the driver and whola !!! it worked !! now my SD 1.0.1 compliant
CPU can do SD 2.0. We updated our CPU datasheet as well.
