Installing WinCE 6 to a CEPC
This is my first attempt at installing a WinCE 6 image to an x86 SBC. The
SBC has 2 Realtek Ethernet ports and 4 serial ports. It has a CF slot
(nothing atteched) and IDE HDD formatted with a single 60 MB primary
partition. The image itself is very minimalistic, but the problem I'm having
is that it does not download to the controller. I'm using an Ethernet and
serial debug. This is the debug output that I'm getting, at which point, it
appears to hang. The Windows CE Debug log is

Block device registry issue?
Hi,
I have K9f1208 NAND flash and J3F128 NOR flash in my platform, these two

things happen when I build as release, NAND flash partition dll never been
loaded. I found the DSK had been loaded, but mspart.dll never been load when

Problem with timer interrupt
Hi All,
I am developing BSP for MC9328MXL litekit in WINCE 5.0. I have
problem once
the interrupt is enabled. I have two timers and I am using timer1 as
system timer. For
time being I have enabled only the timer interrupt.
By referring to few documents I came to know that system timer
interrupt
doesnot call IST and SYSINTR_RESCHED is returned. And I have done
accordingly.
But I have a problem here. Once interrupt bit is enabled in the kernel
code we get
timer interrupt and OEMInterruptHandler is called, this I ensured by
printing debug
message and OEMInterruptHandler is repeatedly called the code doesn't
proceed
further. I have not disabled the timer interrupt before servicing the
interrupt but for the
other interrupts I disable that interrupt source and then proceed. Can
anyone help
me regarding this.
Thanks & Regards,

Struggling with via Prosavage/Twister display driver
Hi Guys {and Gals}
I have a unit using the via Prosavage/Twister BSP with CE 5.0, I'm
struggling with the display driver it has a bunch of SR_Settings,
CR_Settings, GR_Settings, AR_Settings which control the VGA registers
and appear not to be documented anywhere. These are specific to the
panel connected to board, I'm using a AUO G150XG01 15" TFT Panel.
I've asked the hardware manafacturer and they have given me;
"SR_Settings"=hex:\
1D,00,3D,00,50,00,51,00,52,21,53,F7,5D,
77,70,01,71,10,72,C6,73,01,74,01,75,\

59,10,5A,00,5B,08
"CR_Settings"=hex:\
D6,10,D7,10,D8,20,D9,20,DD,00
They claim that these work, however all I get is a 640x480 window in
the top left corner with black down the remaining right hand portion
and the last pixel copied all the way to the bottom of the screen. The
right hand part of the screen also appears to be echoed over the left
causing quite a mess. I loaded on and tried their ce 4.2 nk.bin which
has a working display. Although they have these settings loaded in,
from what I can tell they're using the standard flat display driver,
so I've decided to kinda abandon them as far as concerns getting this
right ....
===
Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding these meaning
of these settings? Or how you acquire the correct values for these
settings?
Many thanks in advance,

Generating Nk.nb0
hi to all,
I know that to generate a NK.nb0 file at the end of build process we have to
specify the ROMSTART, ROMWIDTH, ROMSIZE in config.bib file.
When ROMSIZE is less than to be than NK.nb1 is generated. If ROMSIZE is
bigger than the ROM size then padded with zeros.
I want to generate Nk.nb0 file not constant size ROMSIZE instead autosize
like NK.bin.
Can anybody know how to generate autosized Nk.nb0 files by configuring
config.bib?

Standard CE vs NMD -> WMV/MPEG-4 Video Codec
What are the differences between the "WMV/MPEG-4 Video Codec/Filter"
that is part of the standard CE catalog items and the one that is part
of the Network Media Device (NMD) DVR Engine catalog item. I noticed
that there is an extra output pin for VBI information but what else is
different? I'm seeing slightly different playback performance between
the two options and the documentation is a little weak on this topic.
(Based on some other documentation I have found it looks like the DVR
Engine version of these files was included into CE 6.0)
Are there any performance fixes or addition options in the NMD
components that aren't documented? (I'm most interested in issues
related to high-bit rate streaming) Tag: how to download nk.nb0 Tag: 96212
1bpp Displays
Hello,
one of my customer wants to connect an existing display unit to a
Windows CE device. This unit contains a display with a resolution of
320x240 and 1 bit per pixel color depth. The display controller supports
also only a frame buffer of 1bpp and has no hardware acceleration. So I
have to use the emulation functions in the display driver.
I have do a lot of investigation in the online help and in the source
code of the PB but I'm not sure if this display is really supported by
the GDI interface of Windows CE.
Have anybody experience with such displays ? Is it possible to connect
such displays through the GDI interface of Windows CE ? Which
restrictions of the API are known ?
Thank you for your answers in advance.

Read from registry problem
I want to read from the registry and added code like this:
lRet = RegOpenKeyEx ( HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,
_T("Services\\Smbserver\\Shares\\Printer"),
0,
KEY_QUERY_VALUE,
&hKey );
if ( lRet == ERROR_SUCCESS )
{
This works as expected. If I change where to read from to a key named
"Version" that I have created myself in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Company this
does not work. The value of iRet becomes ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND. I am
sure the key exist, as I can read if rom the remote registry editor.

Separate x86 targets in one platform
Greetings!
Just up front, I don't know if I really do have a problem yet, but I have
some concerns which I'd like to discuss.
So, what I'm concerned about is this: we have a platform that will be
deployed to two different x86-based (plus one MIPS and ARM Emulator)
machines. For each of the x86-based machines I have to make some
adjustments, add special drivers etc. AFAICT (and here is the part I
haven't tried yet), I can't simply throw everything into the same platform.
While this works for the MIPS and ARM drivers, which are sufficiently
separate from the others, I would end up with at best unnecessary drivers
and at worst with conflicting drivers.
What I thought of were these remedies:
1. Create separate configurations
Instead of having only debug and release, I would have debug_variant1,
debug_variant2 and similar for release. This of course wouldn't apply to
the non-x86 variants where these would be the same.
2. Separate the second x86 platform from the rest
That would mean that I have to manually sync the two resulting platforms. If
I could, I'd rather avoid that.
Suggestions?
thanks

How to create/mount multiple partitions on NAND flash through Registry setting?
Dear All,
The NAND flash on my platform is orded as "Step Loader", "TOC",
"Eboot", "MBR", "WinCE Kernel", and "ResidentFlash." In the original
design, "ResidentFlash" takes all remaining space in the NAND flash.
Now, I want to partition this ResidentFlash into two partitions. So, I
modify the Eboot code to create two partitions in MBR and the MBR
content seems to be correct. But how could I mount these two
partitions separtively? I mean could I mount these two partitions with
different name, different attributes or any other things through
registry settings? Your advice is deeply appreciated. Thanks a lot. Tag: how to download nk.nb0 Tag: 96188

Serial KITL fails after downloading through serial bootloader (WINCE 5.0)
Hi
I am trying to run Serial Bootloader and Serial KITL simultaneoulsy
through a single UART port I am using a h/w board which has 2 UART
ports, one for debug messages and the other for bootloader as well as
KITL.
After the image is downloaded and KITL starts, it displays a warning
message "WARN: SerialRecv: Header checksum error, discarded..." on the
debug UART port which is in blcommon library code.
The UART port settings for Bootloader and KITL are
Baud rate : 115200
Data Bits : 8
Parity : None
Flow Control : Hardware
Stop Bits :1
I re-initialize the UART once the image has downloaded and before KITL
starts. Can you please suggest why I am facing Checksum errors?
Note: 1) Serial Bootloader works fine with Ethernet KITL
2) Serial KITL works fine with Ethernet bootloader.

OTG module development for Mainstone II PXA270X - WinCE 5.0
Hi
I am developing USB-OTG device driver module for Mainstone II board in
WinCE 5.0.
The module is not available with the WinCE 5.0 for Mainstone II rather
the USB OTG driver is availble with WinCE 6.o Mainstone II board.
Now I am doing BSP cloning for Mainstone II and adding the OTG driver
by picking it up from WinCE 6.0/MainstoneIII/ drivers folder. Now I am
facing certain issues in the same.:-
There are certain header files - like pkfuncs.h, defbus.h and many
others have been modified and many new header file have been added
As a result of this - while building my driver - its giving lots of
erros.
Now some of the issues are WinCE 6.0 and some other are hardware
(Mainsone II and Mainstone III specific)
Since I am new ot WinCe - I am not sure - whether this approach is
correct for building the OTG driver or not.
Kindly help me on the same.
Thanks & Regards

WinCE 5.0 Mainstone III BSP suspend/resume control panel start after very long time
Hello
I am encountering following problem with the Mainstone III BSP released by
Microsoft on the Standard Mainstone III development board (Intel PXA27x
Processor Developer`s Kit).
When the system suspend (deep sleep) and resumed the system functions and
system GWES functions. However when we try to access the control panel or
any other applications available on the CE shell the system appears to got
stuck. However after a long time the system recovers with that application
being launched. From this point onwards system functions as normal.
Has anybody seen this issue before?
However if I use the Mainstone II BSP with (Intel provided suspend resume
patch) the system functions as expected. Hence I feel that this behavior is
caused by the Mainstone III BSP.
Can some one help me on this matter?
Many thanks in advance.

newbie CE6 driver question
I just downloaded an eval version of the CE6 development tool and I would
like to build a simple system that supports an Intel 82546EB gigabit
ethernet chip. This chip or a chip in the same family is used on most
Pentium-M Compact PCI SBCs that are sold today. The Intel web site has the
CE5 driver but I haven't found a CE6 driver and from what I read the older
driver probably won't work. Am I stuck?

CEPC - DP83815 Network PCI driver
Hi,
I´m trying to use a PCI network adapter (NetGear FA311 ) that is based
on DP83815 chipset from National on a CEPC setup. In this msdn page:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa908177.aspx
this adapter model appears as a supported one by WinCE 6.0, but... There is
no option in Catalog to turn on driver for this chipset, as were in Platform
Builder 5.0
Qhat may I do to get this working??
Thanks,

WinCE 6 - Adding PCL Printer Driver
I've been running into a problem adding PCL printer support to a Windows CE 6
OS Design in Platform Builder 6.
Platform Builder 6 comes with a common printer driver located in
public\common\oak\drivers\printer . I would like to include this driver into
my OS Design, however, it does not appear in the catalog list. My
understanding from reading the archieves is that this driver showed up as
"Printer PCL Support" in past version of Platform Builder, but I have not
been able to locate it in version 6.
Has anyone run into a similar problem, or perhaps know how to include this
driver into the OS design by some other means?
Cheers,

In the CDMA Smartfon, do we need the wwan module for the data connection?
Hi, all,
I saw there is a wwan minidport for GPRS module in the WIN CE

RAS modem config
Hi, has anybody experience with setting up the RAS Server for incoming
Modem connections?
Im trying to get the rasserver sample work.
Using the GUI (LineConfig->RasDevConfigDialogEdit) is OK. Incoming
modem connections work.
(I only have to close the Dialog without needing to acknowledge any
changes)
If I take the LineConfigUnimodemSpeed Function instead the connection
fails.
The modem connected to my CEDevice answers the incoming call but hangs
up immediately.
Do I have to configure the LineDevConfigs? How? Tag: how to download nk.nb0 Tag: 96131
Problems when adding an entry to the network routing table.
Hello,
when I add a new entry to the network routing table my system hang up if
the specified gateway is not online (e.g. the gateway computer is
shutdown at the moment).
After I have execute the following command:
route ADD 192.168.105.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 192.168.105.10 METRIC 1 IF 3
the system doesn't work successfully anymore till I have reboot the hole
system. The system cannot be accessed through telnet, FTP or each other
protocol, but it responds successfully to all ping requests.
With the PB 5.0 I discovered that something in the AFD component seems
to block but I cannot find the cause. Maybe that something in the TCP/IP
stack is corrupted to but I don't know why. I don't think that the
problem is in the network driver because the device responds
successfully to ping requests.
Have someone else seen this problem before ? Is there a solution
available for this curiosity ? I' using Windows CE 5.0 with all actual QFEs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Use IImage in WinCE
Hi all,
I am new to develop an AP on winCE 5.0 and I try to use the
IImage library. Now I can load the JPG picture on the screen
successfully and try to rotate it. However I met some problem.
I had find some suggestion which indicate how to rotate bitmap step by
step as follows:
CoInitialize
CoCreate CLSID_ImagingFactory
CreateImageFromFile which returns you an IImage interface
Query the IImage interface for IBasicBitmapOps interface
use the IBasicBitmapOps interface to adjust brightness, contrast,
gamma,
rotation, etc.
Use the IImage interface to Draw the bitmap on the screen
I just can't understand which does the "Query the IImage interface for
IBasicBitmapOps interface" means.
Here is my code and would anyone tell me where is going wrong ?
By the way, is it possible to use the IImage library to convert from
JPG to BMP and PNG ?
Thanks in advance, any suggestion will be appreciated.
::CoUninitialize();
IImagingFactory *pFactory = NULL;
IImage *pImage = NULL;
ImageInfo *info = NULL;
IBitmapImage *rotebitmap = NULL;
IBasicBitmapOps *oper = NULL;
::CoCreateInstance(CLSID_ImagingFactory,
NULL,CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,IID_IImagingFactory, (void **)&pFactory);
pFactory->CreateImageFromFile(L"\\jupiter.jpg", &pImage);
pFactory->CreateBitmapFromImage(pImage, 0, 0, PixelFormatDontCare,
InterpolationHintDefault, &rotebitmap);
pImage->QueryInterface(IID_IBasicBitmapOps, (void **) &oper);
oper->Rotate(180.0, InterpolationHintDefault, &rotebitmap);
pImage->Draw(hdc, &test , NULL); Tag: how to download nk.nb0 Tag: 96116
RNDIS - Hangs during transfres
Hi all,
My setup is includes an ARM based processor running WINCE 5.0.
I have RNDIS working, but it hangs during data transfers.
I have searched this workgroup, and I found some other posts
describing similar problems, but no solution was described.
I suspect that this problem is related with not sending a zero
packet in some specific situations. I could see that if I start
pinging the device while it is stalled, the device resumes its
transfers. For example, I opened a shared folder on the device from
the desktop and it took very long time (minutes) to open. If during
this operation I open a telnet session and then just keep on pressing
<enter> key - the device folder shows up in less then 10 seconds.
The host PC is windows XP SP2. I am using "RNDIS-USB-Kit_05.exe" as
host side RNDIS driver.
I am using the same usbfn driver for mass storage and for activesync
without any problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Michael. Tag: how to download nk.nb0 Tag: 96110

makeimg with new pm.dll
I want to use a new pm.dll in my image that was sent from microsoft to
display debug messages. So I replaced the old pm.dll with the new one
in my release directory, the platform retail directory, and all other
directories that I saw pm.dll in. Then I did a makeimg and downloaded
the new image to my device
After bootup, I don't see any debug messages. When I look in the
windows directory on the device, I see that the old pm.dll is there,
because the file size is much smaller than the new one with debug
messages. So this is where I'm stuck. I searched the whole hard drive
for any instances of the old pm.dll and none exist. Any suggestions? Tag: how to download nk.nb0 Tag: 96077

PCI Sound Card on a CEPC with CE 5.0
I am forced to create a new Windows CE 5.0 image for a customer that
wants wave audio.
The problem is that I have to find on the market a PCI Soundcard that
can be managed on a CEPC with a existing CE driver. The number of
samples that we need to create does not justify the development of a
specific Wave driver.
Have you any information about current commercial PCI cards that have
drivers for Windows 5.0?
And what are the chips that they use?
Thank you in advance

The download of nk.bin works?
Usually the nb0 file should be downloaded using a jtag emulator and not
through the usual bootloader download. Your bootloader should support
the "flat" format or it will try to parse it as a .bin resulting in a
download failure.
