Hi all

At the FeatureView window,
Can I use some feature of the Display based devices to the headless devices?
How to export the some feature of the display based devices and How to get
the exported features to headless devices?

Thanks
Jeff Lee

Usually not easily as there are often dependencies - if an item is availablr
in both headless and display configurations then it usually appears in both
configurations.
What specifically did you want from the display based catalog?

For Example, There is Inbox item in the display based devices, but there is
not in the headless devices.

In this case, how can I use Inbox item in the headless devices in the
FeatureView window?
Is there only one way to add SYSGEN_PMAIL into Environment Variables?

Thanks
Jeff Lee

Hi Jeff,

i'm sorry but so far i know you can't get the inbox item into a headless
device. This is a dependency problem, because the inbox item depends on some
internet explorer extensions and these need a display based device. But if
you use some device with no graphic controller you can build a display based
device and include the NULL (Stub) Display driver. In that case you have a
'full' display based device without vga controller support. The only
difference to a headless device would be the size of the image. A headless
device can work with about 3 - 4 MB but on a display based device you need
minimum 6MB of flash (maximum can be up to 15 and more MBs!).

Best regards,
Oliver Münchow

Inbox is a GUI application requiring a lot of user interaction. What exactly
are you expecting it could do on a headless system?

Thank you for all advice.

I'm sorry that my description is very poor.
Headless device is just examle. Because PB had 2 device catagory by default.
I really want to get the feature from different device's catagory.
and different device is not only headless device.

I want to get some feature from Display based device and import the exported
feature to other device. Other device also based on GUI.

Thanks
Jeff Lee

As said Olivier Munchow, the easiest and fastest way is to build a display
based image with the stub video driver

There are exactly 2 categories, you can't add new ones. What is in them is
what is in them - you can't change that either. What EXACTLY is the problem
you are trying to solve?
