If either a USB mouse, or USB touchscreen, (drivers included into OS image),
is connected to the USB-2.0 port upon power-up they aren't initialized. I
have to disconnect and reconnect them then they're recognized and work

However, if a standard memory stick is plugged in upon power-up it is
recognized.

Any ideas what could be wrong, or how to correct this?

Thanks

Well, gee. You've told us that you are using CE5, but *not* what processor,
what USB host hardware, what mouse, what touchscreen, or anything else about
your setup. We, generally speaking, don't read minds...

I have the same problem with the Advantech card PCM-9371 based on
Pentium III Celeron. I use WinCe 5.0 and a Kingston flash memory USB key.

Thanks.

That is because BIOS do some USB initializations, then Windows CE driver can
not load the class driver correctly.

Thanks for the answer.

The Bios is from Award Software. I can't find any parameter for disabling
the USB initialization.

May I force an Usb bus scanning at CE software level to recognize the device
or this is a problem without solution?

Thanks.

It is really a problem if you build a Windows CE Image via your own BSP.
Advantech slove this problem in kernel. You can get into contact with local
branch for support.

If you must slove this problem by yourself, you can download the VIA BSP and
trace kernel source code. Some codes that do the "Disable USB Legacy" is what
you want.

I contacted my local, italian, branch for support.

He said to me that Advantch does not release the BSP of its cards!
This is very strange for me: the business for Advantech is to sell cards.
Not releasing BSP is not the best way to increase sells.

Then he said that I can download a nk.bin image from
ftp://ftp.advantech.it/AITFTP/SUPPORT/EOS/WINCE5.0/PCM-9371/CORE-ENG
I try it. It works well, but I need to customize that image because I need
to insert my own drivers. That image is not a solution for me.

Finally, I made some searches on Internet and I found many references to site
cebuilder.advantech.com.tw, but it seems to be unaccessible. I hoped that
the solution was there.

Now, the company that committed me this project is considering to use a
card from a different producer.

Do you have a solution?
