    - Can't link nk.lib and coredll.lib in kern.exe Hi all, I am using WinCE 5, for creating an settopbox. In the OAL I want to adjust the OALArgsQuery(OAL_ARGS_QUERY_DEVID) so that the mac address of the device is returned to the calling function. In this case OALIoCtlHalGetDeviceId( ), this is needed for DRM to work. In OALArgsQuery(OAL_ARGS_QUERY_DEVID), I use the DeviceIOControl(OID_802_3_CURRENT_ADDRESS) to get the current mac address of the device. The function DeviceIOControl uses Coredll.lib, so I link this library in the source of kern.exe, but NK.lib is already linked here, and there are dubble methodcalls in the library's so I use /FORCE:MULTIPLE. This generates several warnings, but the image builds. But when I run the image, it does nothing. It won't boot. So I have a couple of questions about that. Q1) Is it possible to link the two library's in the same source? If so how? Q2) Is there another way to retrieve the current mac address? I have already tried GetAdaptersInfo, but that doesn't work either.     - PDF Viewer in Windows Ce 6.0 Hello, I hope I can get quick help: In Windows Ce 5.0 is the option to add a pdf file viewer. If you add this component the licence is Proffessional Plus.     - WinCE6 TFAT hive register gets reset sometimes Hi all, I have a probem with our CE6 devices. Im using TFAT, Stratad and hive-based registry and sometimes the registry gets reset back to default (ROM registry). I read about the registry in PB help and it sais that if ROM registry get changed the hive's are invalid and CE recreates the hive. But the ROM is untouched. The filesystem seems OK. I have not seems any filesystem problem. Are there other situations when CE decides to recover the hive? Its very hard to reproduce and it seems that some units have a bigger frequency of faults then others. These units have been used for years thou and ive have run flash and RAM tests without any errors.     - Problem in porting WINCE 5.0 to smdk2410 board. Hi, I have created the OS image for smdk2410 board using platform builder tool. After(it gave 0 warings and 0 errors) successifully creating OS image it has EBOOT.nb0, nk.bin. For porting wince i need to run the EBOOT.nb0 in the ram where we can set the ip and mac address then we can port the os image if i am right. If i run the EBOOT.nb0 in the ram(0x 30032000) of smdk2410 board it will be showing that download is ok but after that it should show the ethernet bootloader prompt for setting the ip and mac but it is not showing. I have used the dwn.exe which is a usb transfer tool used to run the boot loader in the target device.     - Setting up registers on PXA270? Hi all I'm currently developing a driver that will let a PXA270 running CE6 communicate with a TI floating-point DSP. I've got to the stage where I have a dummy driver running in a debug build of CE, and I've also used the peek and poke functions in the RedBoot bootloader to test the interface with the hardware. What I'm stuck on is this: Some registers in the PXA270 need changed from their default values to make the interface work. I can't figure out where to put the code to do this. If I put it in my driver's XXX_Init, I suppose I need to access the registers by virtual addresses, but I'm not sure how to do this. Is it ok to use MmMapIoSpace() on them? I don't know if they are already controlled by some other piece of code in the BSP that could cause conflicts. The only alternative I can think of is to modify RedBoot so it does the required setup before CE even loads, but I don't know if this is a sensible thing to do. Problem is that it cannot boot from 2 G bytes CF card, but 256 M bytes CF card is OK. I use the same NK.BIN to verify this issue. I know there is a connection manager in only Windows Mobile series. And the connection manager support to connect to the Cellular network.     - CE 5.0 Interrupt/Scheduler Question I have an interrupt that comes in via the FIQ ISR. The IRQ source is masked and a very small amount of code is executed in the ISR and then the source is unmasked. There is no subsequent IST to handle this IRQ all processing is done in the FIQ ISR. The IRQ source (DMA controller) also is set as the highest priority IRQ in the PXA270 interrupt controller. Well, I should say, not the highest, the scheduler timer is the highest. Now, when this DMA interrupt occurs, is the thread that handles the FIQ ISR scheduled the same (incur the same latencies) as any other scheduled thread in the system? I would hope not since this is a hardware generated IRQ and needs to be serviced as quickly as possible but I just want to confirm. Thanks.     - CE licensing Hi all, I have a doubt about CE licensing. We have now added a license-stamping application, stampbin.exe, to our build process. It stamps the license number on nk.bin and it can be read using viewbin.exe. Iâ??m not certain how or even if it can be read at run-time on CPD. Do you know how if the nk.bin license stamp can be retrieved at run-time? I also downloaded a tool called LicenseTool50.exe which examines a CE build (actually a header file call ceconfig.h) to determine which licensing is required. Thanks a lot.     - driver gets unloaded but still have the keys in the registry I am working on a usb-multicomport driver which has to support multiple COM devices. I use activatedevice function for each COM port while initializing. The problem is that when I call deactivate device for the COM ports with their respective handles, when multiple usb-4serialport boards are connected, the subkeys under the active keys for all those COM ports that the device manager has created get deleted but not the key. The key stays with all the subkeys deleted. When ever deactivate device is called I see the following messages in the debugger. FSREG: Blocking RegDeleteKey on open key DEVICE!DeleteActiveKey: RegDeleteKey failed 5 Why aren't the active keys getting deleted. My driver gets unloaded but still i have the keys in the registry and i get the above messages during my debugging.     - Unable to connect to remote device Hi, I am using WinCE 5.0 on a target device whch doesnt have USB but has ethernet . To debug application I successfulyy used TCP/IP settings in VS 2005. Now I open to open remote tools in Platform Builder Tool->Remote Registry Editor lets say. When I try to connect to ethernet it keep hangs"Starting server for selected device" Why this could be so Please help.     - Bluetooth issue in Windows CE 5.0 Hi We are Developing product using AU1250 processor .Using bluetooth dongle(Bluetooth 1.2,HCI versin 0x3,LMP version 0x3) i am able to do pairing and transfering file.while i am using another bluetooth dongle(Bluetooth 2.1,HCI version 0x4,LMP version 0x4) able to do pairing but not able to do transfer file.     - Device enumeration fails Hi, I am having problems getting a certain full speed device to enumerate and get to the 'load driver' stage on Wince 5.0. The device is recognized and is usable when connected to my PC. I have used a USB sniffer to look at the packet traffic and it all seems reasonable. On the CE host, the device connection is detected and an attachment event is noticed in the HubStatusChangeThread in the host controller code. It calls ResetAndEnableHub port which returns OK, but when it tries to get a descriptor on the default control pipe, the process stalls. It is waiting for the callback for IssueTransfer and this never gets called. I am not too familiar with this software or enumeration process... any suggestions on what can be done, or a where to look to find out more information?     - Directory: \Foo\Include does not exists Hello, I referenced an include directory with in a SOURCES file like this: INCLUDES= \ $(_PROJECTOAKROOT)\INC; \ C:\MyWince500_Drive\Path\Include Now I moved the referenced directory to another drive and changed the statement: INCLUDES= \ $(_PROJECTOAKROOT)\INC; \ D:\Foo\Include I checked that the path is correct. The files can be found there. But when I start build in the directory with the SOURCES file, build.exe reports an error: Directory: \Foo\Include does not exist. The drive letter is ignored/removed. Is there a known issue, that all include directories specified in SOURCE must be at the same drive?     - adding SYSGEN_HTTPD to the OS image I have the following problem, and i really don't know what to do next... I have just created a new OS Image and added the SYSGEN_HTTPD component to the image... The thing is that I copy the NK.bin file to the CF card I boot from, plug in the CF card but I can't see the \www folder inside the \Windows folder... Do I have to copy those folder manually?     - Target Connection and Disconnection Hi Everybody. I have a question about the target connection and reconnection with Visual studio 05. When I attach my target during boot, everything works fine. But when I deattach it and reattach it, the connection seems to hang and the target stops to respond to target control command or debugger command. I activated some trace in KITL and it seems to keep making the same thing, I pasted it below. Is somebody know if it's normal not to be able to reattach a target after deattaching it without reset ? I checked the emulator behaviour, but when I try to reattach, the emulator resets itself automatically, so I'm not able to check the behaviour.     - CETK connection issue with Flash File System mounted as root Hello all, With the Flash File System mounted as root the Remote Tools and the Win CE 6.0 CETK refuse to connect. The files cetlstub, tlcesrv and cemgrc are copied to \Windows folder on the device but the error message: "Platform Manager was unable to copy the clientside package to the device. Check your device-side files folder to make sure there is adequate space and no open files" appears and no connection can be started. When the Flash File System is not mounted as root the Remote Tools and the CETK work perfectly. In both cases we use Active Sync for the Transport and the Startup Server. In both cases Active Sync is working and files can be accessed via the Explorer. In both cases there is enough space in the memory and no files are open. We change the following vars in the <projectName>.bat file: In this case FFS is mounted as root, CETK and Remote Tools don't work: set SYSGEN_FSREPLXFILT=3D1 set PRJ_ENABLE_FSEXTREPL=3D1 set PRJ_ENABLE_FSMOUNTASROOT=3D1 In this case FFS is not mounted as root, CETK and Remote Tools can connect: set SYSGEN_FSREPLXFILT=3D set PRJ_ENABLE_FSEXTREPL=3D set PRJ_ENABLE_FSMOUNTASROOT=3D Any ideas with mountaing the FFS as root prevents the CETK and the Remote Tools from starting?     - Problems Disabling Automatic Screen Off for Display Driver. I have a platform running Windows CE 6.0 and am having some problems having the Display Stay on (it is turning off automatically when I don't want it to.) We basically do not want any idle or inactivity timers to be used by the Power Manager with regards to the display, we only wish for it to change power states via requests from Applications and due to Sleep and Sleep Resume. We have three (3) drivers in use, a Display Driver, Backlight Driver and Battery Driver. The Display Driver starts up in D0, after being left idle the Power Manager sets the Display Driver into D1 followed by D4. The Backlight Driver is staying on as expected. I installed a stub battery driver (from public tree) that should set the Power Source as AC Line Online with a Battery State of full. I originally thought that maybe having the Battery Support in (without an actual battery driver) may be causing a problem (as the default power state was battery scheme.) Adding in this battery driver has the default power state as AC Scheme but there is unfortunately no change to how the driver behaves. Via the Control Panel: Power Scheme says AC Power and Switch to User Idle, System Idle and Suspend all say never. Display Backlight has two checkboxes "Automatically turn off backlight while on battery power" and "Automatically turn off backlight while on external power" and neither of these are actually checked.     - Attach Device problems Hello... I seem to only be able to "Attach Device" to two particular MAC addresses. Does that make any sense at all? My PB5.0 happily downloads image to the first MAC address I used with it, and the default that comes with the board... but for the rest of them (rest = "10 others I tried") don't actually seem to get an image.     - Install/deploy custom CE6 OS via USB I've built my OS Design in Embedded CE 6.0 R2 in VS2005 using the ARM BSP, and it runs fine in the ARM emulator. Now I'd like to deploy it to the target device itself. I've searched around online for this for hours, but know I'm missing something b/c the download runtime image dialog sits waiting for BOOTME from the target device.     - CE5 form.submit Hi, I'm running into a problem testing browser compatibility in CE5 against CE4.2. I have a series of Web pages that are served by IIS on a PC which test various aspects of HTML and other protocol compatibility in the browser. One of the test pages has a form that gets submitted by the user when she clicks a button on the page. This works fine and triggers the form action after some JScript runs on the page and calls submit() for the form in CE4.2. When the user clicks on the button, a dialog is presented from wininet.dll which says something to the effect that 'You are about to send some data over the Internet. Are you sure you want to do that?' If the user says, "Yes", the form submission occurs. In CE5, however, clicking on the Submit button that should trigger this process seems to do nothing. No dialog, although the dialog resource is certainly still there in wininet.dll, no submission operation, etc. It's as though the processing of forms is short-circuited by someone. Note that 1) I do have JScript (authoring and encode), in the image, 2) I'm using the DCOM catalog item and have Internet Explorer RPC Support in the OS, 3) I've tried accessing the test page on a server that's in the Local Intranet zone and one in the Internet zone, 4) I've tried setting all of the Internet options on the device to the most-liberal settings, 5) the QFECheck tool indicates that I have all of the QFEs for my target processor, ARMv4i. I've also looked through the registry documentation for something to control form posting, but don't see anything. Any ideas? Paul T. My remote tools were not working so after going through several posts i came to know that we need to copy the files.
