    - Wince 4.2 to 5.0 Migration issue I am trying to migrate PXA 270 based BSP from WinCE 4.2 to 5.0; I made all the changes in the source.cmn, make the image without compilation error, now I am trying to download image to the platform, it is not loading.     - Hive based registry hangs in retail build Hi, have PXA255 platform derived from Lubbock. Using WInCE 5.0. I have setup my hive registry to be on NOR Flash. Everything works fine in a debug build, hives are mounted on flash and booting time is aorund 20 seconds. With a release build its taking long time to boot around 5 minutes.     - Hard drive does not init Hi, I'm trying to add a HDD to a CEPC image. I've followed all the step-by-step instructions and scoured the documentation for anything I might have missed, to no avail. My bios detects the hard drive correctly, but in the kernel debugger, when CE tries to initialize the drive, it complains that "device busy" and then "failed to initialize device." My working hypothesis is that CE can't deal with the ide controller, which is an intel 82801DB (deviceId 0x24CB). I haven't been able to find CE drivers for the Intel chipset on our SBC. Intel cryptically says "PIO" on their driver matrix for this chipset, but changing the transfer mode hasn't made any difference. If anyone has some insight into this problem, I would greatly appreciate the help.     - Unfilled ROM holes Does anyone have any suggestions on how to minimize the amount of space in unfilled ROM holes in an OS image build ? It seems like the packing is based on the order things are found in ce.bib which is based on where they are in the various .bib files. If you start with a bunch of 'small' files and then graduate up to the large file components, it would seem like you'll end up with a fairly different OS footprint, but there doesn't appear to be much control available or a good step to insert a home-grown tool.     - Copying a file deletes file attributs Hello, today I discovered a new, real, problem. If I copy a file from on storage (IDE > Compact Flash > FAT) to another (USB > Memory Stick > FAT) the file attributs are gone. Archive is always on, Read-only is always off and Hidden is correct. I have tested this behavior with Windows CE Explorer and a simple application using the FileCopy API. Have I missed an registry key?     - Release filesystem with passive KITL (CE5) Hi all, In my target (pxa25x, windows CE5) I have enabled passive kitl. Whenever I generate an exception to start up the debugger, the target connects to my debugger and handles the exception but right after that it gets more exceptions all relating to fsdmgr/relfsd. >From what I see in the debug output, the target control shell tries to open the \\release\\con directory and fails to do so, generating an exception. It continues to attempt to open this device and thus, continues to generate exceptions all over....this makes it impossible for me to use the kernel debugger in a decent way. I suspect that relfsd tried to mount the filesystem during bootup (I disabled the "mountasbootable" registry setting) and does not find the debug link and then fails somehow. Am I missing a configuration setting somewhere or should I not use the target control tools at all when using passive KITL? (when I disable the target control tools the debugger connects fine and does not receive any exceptions other than the one I generated to kick start the debugger).     - Remote tools of eVC 4.0 SP4 not working with platform 4.2 Hello experts After installing SP4 for Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 the remote tools don't work anymore. We always get the message "Cannot find appropiate device side files associated with this tool", if we try to connect to our device. We didn't have this problem with SP3. The KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873411/en-us mentions a QFE, which I would like to install, but I can't find it anywhere. Does someone know how to get the remote tools of eVC++ 4.0 SP4 working with a CE 4.2 device? Our device is a PB4.2, SH3, with all QFEs until Jan 2006 installed.     - How to keep mounting SD card while suspending the system? Hi there, There is a SDIO driver stack in PB 5.0. By default, the SD card will be unmounted while system is suspended, and will be mounted again after system resumes. Some operations such as copying file from/to the SD card, playing MP3 files on the SD card, will be abnormal during the dismount/mount handling.     - CEPC and host connectivity Hi all, I have a CEPC system running and my host can download the NK.bin image to the CEPC so that it boots up fine. The only problem now I am facing is, the remote tools always fail to connect to the CEPC... I had no problems with connectivity when I was using MS deviceEmulator and ActiveSync over DMA. But ActiveSync doesn't support Ethernet connectivity (correct me if I am wrong) and hence can't use ActiveSync to connect to my CEPC over ethernet. I can't use COM1 port to connect host as the only COM port of the CEPC is connected to the Radio and the host is connected through ethernet only. So the only options left for me are 1. KITL bootstrap server with KITL transport. - this fails. Do I need to explicitly add something to the OS image/registry to enable the KITL bootstrap server? Any pointers? 2. CESH server for WINCE with TCP/IP transport - this too fails. saying the service is not started. 3. Manual server with TCP/IP - this says copy 3/4 files to the target device and run a cemgr.exe with some arguments. My question is how do I copy those files to the target of the connection is not available in the first place? Is it possible to add those files to the NK.bin when I am building it and then run the commanline as the documentaion says?     - Bug in OHCI2 driver for Windows CE 5.0? Hi all, I'm in a middle of porting USB device-driver from Windows NT/2k/XP... to Windows CE, and I have few questions: Did anyone knows why I can't transfer zero byte vendor-transfer? (It's failed immediatly) That was the easy question. Now for my serious one, we have couple of hardwares and firmware versions which the driver should work upon: 1. A low-speed device (Contains couple of firmware versions) 2. A full-speed device (Contains couple of firmware versions) The low-speed device and the first firmware version of the full-speed device are working ok (Except for the 0 byte transfer which we had to put a dummy byte instead... We have try virtually every possibility for argument cominations.) However we got some problems in the second full-speed device and a special version of the low-speed device. After poking in the hardware and in the driver code, we have found that a time-out occured for a control transfer (Vendor transfer). The timout was caused due to the following: - For all hangs versions (both full-speed and high-speed), the firmware version sends short-packets. The USB transaction is closed before all accpeted bytes are transfered. Since we have used the USB_SHORT_TRANSFER_OK flag, we assumed that the OHCI device stack will act like the 2k WDM stack. - The tranasction is hung only if the number of recive bytes are lower then the USB transaction length. - Sometimes the previous rule is not completly applied (We couldn't figure out the reason for that) Anyway here are my questions: 1.     - Change the Display Resolution hi, I used PB 4.2 to build a Windows CE System for Samsung 2410 board. The default display resolution is 640*480. Then I wanted to change it to 800*600.     - USB device not recognized on power-up (CE-5.0) If either a USB mouse, or USB touchscreen, (drivers included into OS image), is connected to the USB-2.0 port upon power-up they aren't initialized. I have to disconnect and reconnect them then they're recognized and work However, if a standard memory stick is plugged in upon power-up it is recognized. Hello experts I'm using PB5.0 and wonder whether this is a bug or desired behaviour: If I create a new custom platform based on my BSP and add some standard components e.g. "Standard Shell" to the platform, the PB IDE automatically adds e.g. "Minimal GDI Configuration" to my platform. I think this is a very useful feature. But if I call "Open Release Directory" and do a set command, I see that SYSGEN_MINGDI isn't set. Is this ok? SYSGEN_MINGDI does only get set, if I add "Minimal GDI Configuration" directly to my platform. Why is there a difference?     - Problems with corrupted hv-files generated from regcomp during makeimg Hello together, we have serious problems with corrupted hv-files generated from regcomp during makeimg. For building our Windows CE 4.2 image we call cepb from a batch file during our automatic build process. For a couple of builds (about 30%) the resulting nk.bin does not boot correctly on the target device (the filesystem does not start up correctly and the device hangs). The difference between a "good" and a "corrupt" image is only within the .hv-file within the flat release directory (boot.hv, default.hv and user.hv). These are generated from regcomp.exe during makeimg from the reginit.ini file. The difference of the binary hv-files is not only in the beginning part of the file (where there seems to be some random information (mostly the environment variables from the build machine), which are used for padding the files) but also in the back of the file, where the essential information seems to be. We have this difference even if we call regcomp.exe in the flat release directory ("regcomp reginit.ini .") as opposed to calling makimg (from the same build command line). Anyone ever had similar problems? Any idea on how to avoid these problems? In the meantime we have changed the registry settings a little bit, so that we have a different reginit.ini as input. The first tries worked, but who knows if the problem appears again. We can provide our reginit.ini and even the whole flat release directory to Microsoft for further investigation.     - How to cancel/abort IObex::BindToDevice or BthAuthenticate? We are developing a Bluetooth device with MS Window CE 5.0 Bluetooth stack and are now seing a huge problem. We have found that the IObex::BindToDevice method and the BthAuthenticate seem to be blocking calls until the peer device sends an accept or reject. Yet we have not found anyway to cancel/abort such these calls or configure any timeout values for these. Does anyone know if it is possible and if so, how? I have checked via remote kernel tracker and I see every few second either USB or some other thread unblocks and Waits for object and again blocks. Is there a way to increase this wait (it is infinite?) and there is no user input, no pressing of mouse, nothing. Is it related with idle timer settings in reg files.     - Scandisk in CE.Net 4.2 I am working with WinCE 4.2 and am attempting to use the ScanVolumeEx api to perform a periodic scan of the internal CF drive on the embedded device. When testing with a known good CF, the scan returns with no problems found. When testing with a known corrupt CF (fails chkdsk on PC). (Note: CF is FAT16) I have experienced two different issues. 1) I get "Datatype Misalignment" exception during 2nd call to HeapAlloc in GetFreeDirEntry(..) function in scandisk.cpp. (2nd call @ end of dir entry) (Note: after numerous attempts at debugging, hundreds of FILE*.CHK files were created on the root drive. At some point I began getting too many files in root and GetFreeDirEntry(..) faulted prior to calling the HeapAlloc() and exceptions stopped.) 2) With a known bad CF, scandisk does not detect failures that chkdsk detects and returns with No problems found.     - Error while building USBHID driver on WinCE 5.0 Hello. I'm trying to build USBHID driver on Windows CE 5.0. when calling "sysgen" I'm getting this error: "The system cannot find the path specified." see full log below. I suspect that my mistake was creating the OS in the wrong path, or placing the HID drivers in the wrong path. I created the OS in "C:\WINCE500\PBWorkspaces\test1\WINCE500". I put the HID driver in "C:\WINCE500\PBWorkspaces\test1\WINCE500\CEPC_x86\Drivers\USB\CLASS\HID". That's where I call "sysgen" and "build -c" from. Is that the case? if not - any idea what is the problem? Hi
I am working on WinCE4.2 platform.
We have a CF card slot in our device . When we play movie on our device from
CF card 1 Gb storage capacity . The movie performance is good.

But when i do same operation with 8 GB Cf card . My movie performance is
very poor (it stucks) .

what can be the reason ..with 1GB performance is good but with 8GB card
performance dgrades ...?

I don't know how to proceed ..any way i just checked Read and Write
operations with both the cards . My observatiion is with 1 Gb card through
put is always better and consistent .

But with with 8 GB card through put(Read/Write operation) is poor and not
consistent.

Please hellp me ..what can be the possible reason of this problem
