    - How do I know that image is stamped correctly with license key? Hi, I stamped my nk.bin with the Windows CE license key, which I received from the retailer, and converted nk.bin to nk.nb0 using the utility cvrtbin.exe. When I run the image on my target, everything looks as before. I expected to go away the Windows CE version info written on the desktop. How do I know that the image is stamped correctly?     - 6.0 KITL - "unrecognized service KDBG" I'm building an ARM image on 6.0. PB connects with everything execpt KDBG service. Output is below. It will progress no further and just frequently print out "!Received config for unrecognized service KDBG". Enable kernel debugger is checked. Enable KITL is also checked. I've ran Clean Sysgen after enabling them. I've also manually built clearing and setting variables, as found in prior post. For some reason it appears to not be including kernel debugger support.     - KITL ethernet driver in windows CE 6.0 fails Hi, I am developing KITL Ethernet driver for Windows CE 6.0. There are two binaries 1) eboot.bin 2) KITL.dll . Eboot.bin initialized my Network card correctly and I can transfer OS image from debug to target machine. However, once OS gets loaded into target machine, KITL.dll gets invoked on behalf of OS. Because KITL.dll is loaded into virtual space, I need to convert bus address into virtual address. I am doing that by calling two functions as below HalTranslateBusAddress which returns 0x0 in â??AddressSpaceâ?? and system physical address in â??TranslatedAddressâ??. Because I am using memory base I need to call MmMapIoSpace with TranslatedAddress returned in HalTranslateBusAddress call to get the system virtual address. Somehow MmMapIoSPace return same virtual address as physical address. And when I use that returned virtual address accessing my hardware(NIC) it cause my machine to reboot. I have seen sample code for KITL and found that all KITL driver uses IO base and not memory base for accessing PCI/PCIe hardwares. I am not sure where I am going wrong? Kindly suggest me. When I try to map a windows ce drive with Remote Desktop Connection application and open it in windows explorer terminal server session I'm getting this error message: "\\tsclient\files\hard disk is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The file exists."     - SDK Hi I created an SDK for an image made of an Internet Appliance Design template, with an AT91RM9200EK BSP. The SDK was successfully created and it is listed in the list of available SDKs in VS2005. I tried to create a VC++ Win32 Smart Device Project with this SDK, but on doin so, nothing happens.     - Intel Embedded Graphics Driver We are trying to configure the Intel embedded graphics driver (both IEGD 8.0 or 9.0 BETA) for Windows CE 6.0 and directX mobile. The target resolution is 1200X768 but we have also tested 1024x768 and 800x600. To date we have attempted a variety of static and dynamic video memory configurations. Our gut feeling is we prefer a static memory configuration but at this point a working video driver is first priority. Using D3DMobileDoctor we have confirmed that our target device is running the IEGD driver but the d3dm properties do not meet expectation. Mainly, there are discrepancies between d3dm properties using the default flat driver and IEGD (max simultaneous textures among others). Biggest issue is we are unable to render a d3dm texture with a simple sprite application. Load texture and sprite draw calls do not produce errors, but texture is not rendered to screen. Same application successfully renders texture to screen using x86 emulator and the default flat display driver. The last data point is we are able to render a shaded triangle using drawprimitive and rotate triangle by changing perspective with IEGD. So it seems like all the test results are pointing to a video memory or d3dm texture issue. Probably a memory configuration problem in a .bib or .reg, but we just have not had any success changing the configuration. Also we have run a more complex D3D application on same device in Windows XP (GMA driver) with great results. We think we should see similar performance between IEGD and GMA driver using basic d3dm functionality (in terms of MAX simultaneous textures, frame rate, sprite support)?. Does anyone out there have any experience with this driver and configuring it? Does anyone out there have any experience creating a CEPC with direct-x support I might be able to let my app developers use until I can work out the issues with our target hardware?     - Pxa255 to PXA270 porting... Hi all, After working on PXA255 BSP, it is time for me to move to PXA270. I got a board with almost all the peripherals and even gpio connections same as that of my pxa255 board. My pxa255 board is running perfectly with wince 5.0.. Now, the difference between the new board and my old pxa255 board is only processor PXA270. So, i am planning to use the same bsp here too with some changes only on the processor side. Can any one give me a suggestion and main difference that i need to add or make to my existing bsp, so that it will run without any problems on pxa270. I have found the following changes betwen 255 and 270 up to my knowledge, -->Interrupt architectures are different. But still i am planning to use the icip for detecting the interrupt.. Is that ok? or i have to use ichp. --> I left registers memory mapping to be same. since i found the addresses of registers are almost same as that of pxa255 in pxa270. Only thing is, some extra registers are added. Since i am not going to use those, mapping it is useless i think. --> The same case for RTC too. --> Kern, kernkitl, kernprof are linked with oal_cache_pxa250.lib, now i am planning to link it with oal_cache_pxa27x.lib My hardware is yet to come.     - Different interfaces for display driver power management? CE6.0 There appears to be three different interfaces available for power managing a display driver: 1. The full power manager interface through IOCTL_POWER_CAPABILITIES, etc. (advertised on driver initialisation through the PMCLASS_DISPLAY GUID) 2. A second quite similar interface, specific to display drivers, implemented through the escape codes SETPOWERMANAGEMENT / GETPOWERMANAGEMENT and 3. The very basic on/off interface which is exposed through GPE::PowerHandler(). Am I right in thinking that if my driver implements full power management (i.e. option 1 above) then I don't need to bother with the other two interfaces? I could obviously implement the other interfaces as wrappers for my full power management interface, but is this just redundant coding and will it ever be called?     - Video processing Hi, Can anyone please give me any direction concerning the following? I have a video front-end on my platform (TVP5150) that produces normally YUV parallel data. Because I also need the video lines that are outside the visible frame (teletext data), I have to switch to raw video data to have it all. Both the iMX27 (multimedia arm) and TVP5150 do support RAW video. Normally the process syncs on the YUV data (SAV, EAV markers in the record), but in RAW mode I guess I need the external horizontal and vertical sync?     - Wince address space allocation Dear all, I am working on a ARM9 platform that has WINCE 5 ported onit. I want to use some cached memory space in user application. The normal malloc is allocating the address at 0x004ea14c, but when i saw the virtual address space mapping in OEMAddressTable, it shows that cached memory space lies between 0x80000000-0x9FFFFFFF. Hence I am trying to use virtual alloc to allocate some memory from that address space, I am not able to allocate at that location. When I verify the address returned by virtualalloc, it remains the same as returned by normal malloc. I am not able to understand the difference in here between 1) malloc and virtual alloc, and also 2) cached memory space reserved in kernel space and userspace memorymap where does it points to. Or am I missing some thing in here.     - USB : Where's my Control Pipe ? Hi, I wrote an USB driver based on the PRN sample. 2 interfaces are reported. I got 2 Pipes from the 2nd interface with 2 endpoints (Bulk-in & bulk-out). Another interface was reported having 1 endpoint, but I was told this is the interrupt-pipe. I now need to set DTR, by using a control command. I tried using lpIssueControlTransfer() on my BULK-OUT pipe, but that doesn't work. Where/How should I get my CONTROL-PIPE ? From what I understand, this is some kind of default.     - Driver load order Hello, I need to write a small helper driver. It will provide a kind of mailbox for some data, that should be written from any other device driver, file system driver or application. Since other drivers are loaded quite early I want to load the helper driver as early as possible. The interface to the driver could be i.e. a stream driver or any other interface. The helper driver will only use the coredll. AFAIK file system drivers are loaded before stream drivers. Is this generally true?     - The behavior of CD/DVD ROM in WinCE600 I modified an ATA driver to an ATAPI driver as below: The old ATA driver only support one IDE hard disk on the board. 1) Add AtapiIoctl() to process CD/DVD IOCTL which is similar to \WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\BLOCK\ATAPI\atapipcicd.cpp; 2) Modified "HDProfile"="HDProfile" to "CDProfile"="CDProfile" under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\ATA] in platform.reg; 3) Add Core OS->CEBASE->File systems and Data Store->Storage Manager- >CD/UDFS File System. Now only connect one IDE CD/DVD ROM on the board (no hard disk), the ATAPI driver can detect and read data from IDE CD/DVD ROM. The "CDROM Drive" folder is shown in the WinCE explorer. But there are no "Eject" option in the "File" menu of explorer, after press button on CD/DVD ROM to eject the CD, the "CDROM Drive" folder disappeared. Also when put an Audio CD(i.e. cda file), the media player can not play the whole CD like an Audio CD, it need click on each cda file to play just like a data CD. So the behavior of CD/DVD ROM in WinCE600 looks like a removable disk, not like the CD/DVD ROM in the PC? Is it right or is there any mistake in my modification?     - TimeChange Notification Error at bootup Hi, I am using an external real time clock to store the local time. Inside RTC_Init(), I start an endless thread waiting for time events "NOTIFICATION_EVENT_TIME_CHANGE" and "NOTIFICATION_EVENT_TZ_CHANGE" to be notified about time changes (see code below). This works fine until Suspend/Resume! If the board did a Suspend/Resume, I get following errors at bootup: > Notification Error : Cannot execute \\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\DSTTimeChange > Notification Error : Cannot execute \\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\TaskbarTimeChangeEvent Afterwards, a "NOTIFICATION_EVENT_TIME_CHANGE" event occurs. When I delete my persistent registry, the errors disappear until I do another Suspend/Resume. If I disable the RTC driver, no errors are visible at all! Does anybody know why these errors happen or do I make something wrong inside my endless thread? It seems that if i long press on the touch panel (can be anywhere on the screen) and did a system suspend, on the wake up the system seems to hang. I am using latest March 2008 LTK from MSFT, also with this LTK Camera Dshow Integration Test passes on Device Emulator. I am using WM6.1 image (for our ARM device) build using following sysgen variables: 1) SYSGEN_CAMERA_NULL=1(To Include NULLCAM Driver) 2) SYSGEN_DSHOW_CAPTURE=1(Used Previously on WM5 and later versions. Even without this variable LTK doesn't pass) 3) IMGCAMERAOEM=0 (To include P&V Camera registries) 4) SYSGEN_DSHOW_WMV=1 (Got hint from Fsample, Even without this variable LTK doesn't pass) 5) SYSGEN_DSHOW_ICM=1 (Got hint from Fsample, Even without this variable LTK doesn't pass) 6) set BSP_NOCAMERA=1 (To exclude default FSample Camera Driver) So this image contains NULLCAM only. Also P&V camera application properly for all combinations with above image on our ARMV4I device. If I run "Camera Direct Show Integration test" for 100-300 test nos. Test takes 45 sec to finish, in which 23 test out of 32 fails. Same kind of results happen with whole LTK. Following is the failure message for almost all the failed tests: CCaptureFramework: Loading the video property bag data failed. Initializing the capture graph failed. CCaptureFramework: Pausing the graph failed. I have seen this kind of failure before with WM5 later AKUs, when We don't use updated WMCETK. But here this possibility ruled out, because same LTK tests are passing on device emulator. I have exhaust all my attempts, nothing more to try.     - Debug Zones question I noticed that when running the debug version of CE6.0 (x86 or ARM BSPs) it takes a long time to start up compared to 5.0. I believe that I need to disable debug zones. I think one big culprit is KITL who appears to spit out this on the debug port in an incredible rate: Timer: Removing entry, slot: 15, expire: 4294952713 TimerEnt: slot 0, expire: 345400192 I read that I should be able to mask off zones in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/DebugZones From what I can discern from code the name should be KITL so I added "KITL"=dword:1 to try and only display errors. This does not seem to work. When I open CE Debug Zones window the other zones under kitl.dll is still enabled. And messages are still displayed. Anyone have any advice on this? Is anyone know how to get the Bta2dp.dll in Wince6.0?

Hi Gene,

To pull this dll in, you should set SYSGEN_BTH_A2DP before you build your
image.
