    - USB Isochronous problem Hi everybody! I have problem with USB isochronous transfer. I develop USB video streamming driver, so I need USB traffic as much as possible. My device can send me up to 895 bytes in one USB-frame. When I call sequentually the "IssueIsochTransfer" function, I get some empty USB frames between calls. The article in KB http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317434 explains why it happends and how get rid of these empty frames. In the article it's recommended to queue transfers. I tried this code. It really works, but with limitation of required memory about 10.5 kBytes. For example: I queue 3 transfers, 4 USB-frames per transfer, 895 bytes per frame: 3*4*895 = 10740. It works, but if I increase count of transfers in queue or USB-frames per transfer - one or two first transfers occur and after them I get error 14 - "USB_NOT_ACCESSED_ERROR". I must decrease number bytes per frame in order to get USB data. So I can't use all potential banwith of USB. I'm not sure, but may be, the problem is in USB-host driver. May be it allocs memory of it's own, stores incoming USB data in it, and after that copies the recieved data in the buffer, that I pass to the "IssueIsochTransfer" function. May be there is some limitation for memory that driver can alloc. In favour of this suggestion I can add that when in the parameter 7 ( lpdwLengths ) of the "IssueIsochTransfer" function I passed numbers less then 895 it worked. For example: I queue 4 transfers, 8 USB-frames per transfer ( as in article ), 895 bytes per frame: 4*8*895 = 28640 - doesn't work. But when I passed in the parameter 7 ( lpdwLengths ) 300 bytes for every USB-frame it worked, USB-transfers occured OK, on the output buffer I got 300 bytes for every frame, in spite of that my device still was configured for 895 bytes per USB-frame and on analizer I saw that every USB-frame transports 895 bytes of data. When I passed in parameter 7 ( lpdwLengths ) 350 bytes for every USB-frame it didn't work. Simple calculations show that in the first case, when needed memory was: 4*8*300 = 9600 bytes "IssueIsochTransfer" function works OK, but in the second: 4*8*350 = 11200 bytes the second or third queued transfer failed and the "GetLastError" function returns "USB_NOT_ACCESSED_ERROR". I got the same behavior on WinCE 3.0 ( "Cassiopeia E-200" ), and on WinCE 4.2 ( "BitsyX" ). The only difference was that on WinCE 3.0 ( "Cassiopeia E-200" ) I can get up to 11 USB frames per one function call, and on WinCE 4.2 ( "BitsyX" ) up to 13. My question: how can I use all potential bandwith of USB ? If there is really limitation of USB-host driver, may be there is come patch for Platform Builder that fixes this problem ?     - Problem with SoftwareMixer Sa-1110 amrv4 Windows CE 4.2 Codec UCB1200 Or Xscale armv4 Windows CE 4.2 Codec Wolfson wm9712L Both using MDD-PDD type audio driver. If SoftwareMixer is disabled, doing a "key click" or a "touch click" seems to crash MediaPlayer while it's playing a mpeg file. If SoftwareMixer is active (configure 22 kHz->UCB1200, 44 kHz-> wm9712L), no problem with MediaPlayer with a "key click" or a "touch click". BUT when browsing in explorer "key click" or "touch click" are cut before the end of the sound. Also, if I repeat a "key click" almost all the sound of the second and next key are cut. Very short wave (370 byte or less) are not played at all. Looking in the driver shows that the second and next wave are simply terminated before the end by a STOP-CLOSE commands. Do I need to use UAM driver to solve my problem? I have tried almost all possibilities with Priority256, number of buffer, dimension of buffer, etc. Most stable config are: SoftwareMixer: Priority256=210, BufferSize=(2048->ucb1200, 4096-> wm9712L), Buffers=4 Wavedev.dll Priority256=220 Regards Tag: bootable image?     - Problem with SendInput and Terminal Server Client Hi, im using SendInput to simulate key strokes to pass data to a thrid party application. This works fine e.g. with the Internet Explorer and a Webbased application there. But if I try to pass data to the Terminal Server Client, it also works, but SHIFT presses and releases don#t show any effect. I never get capital letters. It works with IE.     - WCE4.2 Messenger does not connect Hi, I have a problem that Windows Messenger for CE (4.2) does not sign in: "Signing in to Communications Service failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." I have tried it with both working ethernet connection across LAN and proxy, and with dial-up connection. PIE works fine. I typed my hotmail address that works fine on XP and MSN Messanger (and signed out from desktop PC). I build platform with included Messenger and some of Networking features. Is there any feature that is necessary for Messenger to start working?     - Exception in GWES !! Help - PB 4.2 and ICA client dosn't work ! Dear experts, we are having a severe problem with PB 4.2-generated thin client platform. Here is the scenario 1. A new installation of Platform Builder 4.2 full retail. Installed side by side with PB 4.1 on the same machine with Win 2k Advanced Server OS. 2. The included with PB 4.2 Citrix ICA client setup was ran and expanded into one of the folders within PB 4.2 tree. 3. A simple Thin Client with IE project was created within PB 4.2 and Citrix ICA client was added to it ( the same way as we always did in PB 4.1). It brings ICA client version 6.20 in addition to RDP client which is included by default when you use PB 4.2 wizard for thin client project. Target platform is Nat'l Semi Geode, x86, using the included BSP from PB 4.2 catalog. 4. Debug and Release builds are made, using [v] Enable Depth Tree and a Rebuild Platform Command from PB 4.2 menu. Builds with no errors and usual warnings from ICA .dll files, when including them into image. So far so good ! 5. Connect to target platform using loadcepc on target it launched the typical setup wizard for thin client. After completing several steps a normal thin client shell appears, with a default Web Connection entry already included. 6. Launching this web connection brings full screen IE with some default web page ( like msn.com) 7. type in our NFuse Citrix server like http://market/ . This a local LAN server, IE finds it fine, opens the usual NFuse login screen. Type in credentials and you are in ! 8. Here comes interesting stuff - we have several published apps, including some simple ones, like Wordpad, Notepad and Excel. They all visible on web page after successful NFuse login. When I launch any such application by clicking on it, it come out with warnings do you want to download and save this app or to run it from its location ? Choose run. Then full screen MS Word appears. We are suffering from it and if not fixed, will have to abandon CE 4.2 development, since the use of Citrix ICA client is a must for our customers. We have many builds of PB 4.1 and use the same ICA client with it and the same NFuse server and NO such problem occurs, all runs properly. Is there anything changed from PB 4.1 to PB 4.2 in such a way that it broke Citrix ICA functionality ?? Please reply if you have seen such error or heard about it !     - IP Address Hi all, When I run a platform made with the platform builder on my mobile device, always the DHCP option is enabled, even if a change the project.reg file changing the tcpip params to put a fixed IP address. If I disable the DHCPenabled option, CE hangs up at beginning.     - HID Driver for CE.NET 4.2 We have written a HID driver for a USB credit card reader. When the card reader is plugged in, our driver is successfully loaded via USBHID.DLL and successfully unloaded when the card reader is unplugged. We correctly initialize our driver and all information passed in to our driver via HIDDeviceAttach seems correct. A problem I cannot figure out is when a credit card is swiped our driver thread is correctly notified of the swipe via GetInterruptReport() similar to the HID mouse and keyboard driver samples shipped with Platform Builder 4.2 however our buffer always contains 9 bytes with no relevant information for us to use. We can 100% successfully communicate with the card reader on Windows 2000 via SetupDi functions and CreateFile and ReadFile. While the initialization seems fine on CE.NET 4.2, we cannot seem to ever get data when a card is swiped. Not sure if we are way off base by using GetInterruptReport(). Later I found that the Automotive device features don't have the AVI Filter AND video support features,So I modified the apcbase.cec file And add the AVI Filter AND video support features in this file ,So I can find these features in the automotive device features.     - Upgrade to 4.2 Hello, I have been using 4.1 for some time now and we have recently received our upgrade to 4.2. When I was at the ESC show earlier this year I did get an eval copy of 4.2 and attempted to install it. The installation kept failing so I decided to wait until (a) I really needed 4.2 and (b) I received the production copy of the code. I tried to uninstall 4.2 after its failed install and that failed too! So, here I am needing to install the production 4.2 in the next few weeks to make use of some of the new features for my project. I am nervous about installing it alongside 4.1, especially since I already have a "partial" 4.2 install there. Mostly I am nervous because I can not afford to screw up my 4.1 at this stage of my project. Can anyone advise and maybe give instructions on how to clean off the partial 4.2 before installing the production code? Or should I attempt to install the production code over the partial? I ahve followed the instructions given as part of platform builder but the serial boot loader seems to hang - I cannot even Ctrl-Atl-Del warm boot.     - Rtl8139 and 'One-Card Network Card Miniport Driver Test' Hi, I have a problem running CETK's 'One-Card Network Card Miniport Driver Test', on the PB 4.2 and XScale-based board with an on-board ethernet interface and 2 additional RTL8139 PCI cards. There are two configuration I use for testing: 1. - the 1st RTL NIC used for ethernet debug (and VMINI), - the 2nd RTL NIC used for test, - the internal NIC not active 2. - the 1st RTL NIC used for test, - the 2nd RTL NIC used for test, - the internal NIC used fro ethernet debug (and VMINI) The problem is that I cannot pass the test for the 1st configuration. However the second one works fine. Also if the first one is compiled in the debug mode it also passes. By failing I mean that the system hangs during the test. There is no fixed moment when it hangs. Instead it happens sometimes during the first subtest and sometimes it goes as far as to 'sending to a group of addresses' which is the last subtest. But it has never passed. I examined the RTL8139 ETHDBG driver and it looks OK for me. Other things that come into my mind are: a kitl problem, a pci problem or maybe the test itself has some defect(s) (I've notied for example that there are memory leaks within the test - but not sure if they're the reason of my problem).     - Synchronization on OAL I hope someone can suggest a solution to this. I have an RTC chip along with other stuff on the I2C bus (XScale). I need to access RTC in OAL (OEMSetRealTime and OEMIoControl(KERNEL_IOCTL_INIT_RTC)). Both of these routines can be invoked by users willy-nilly while the system is running. At the same time, I have other drivers accessing other stuff on I2C bus. I have a library (.lib) that the OAL routines and the I2C driver for the rest of the world link in to communicate with the I2C. It appears (I learned this the hard way) that the OAL routines get linked into the kernel (who coulda thought?). The kernel does not link anything else of value to those of us wishing to do synchronization with the driver, except for a critical section. Unfortunately, critical section is no good when trying to synchronize between processes (as per CE documentation), unless the critical section is in a DLL that the processes share. So here is my dilemma. Is it safe to make the library into a DLL and link a DLL into the kernel (or to be more precise, link the stub into the kernel with the expectation that the DLL will be loaded by the kernel later)? Or can I dare link in coredll.lib and use things like semaphores for synchronization? The only other alternative I can think of is roll my own semaphore using a fixed RAM location (could get nasty) or an unused peripheral status register (what an ugly hack)... This problem cannot be that exotic - I imagine tons of platforms out there have an I2C based RTC and at least a serial eeprom or something else accessible to user on the I2C.     - PPC 2003 Software Adaptation Kit? Hey guys. I've been trying to compile some of the BSPs we received from Intel for our NBMMNS2BVS DVK eval board, and I'm a little bit confused about something. One of the BSPs, the "Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC" BSP, says that it requires the "Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Software Adaptation Kit" to properly compile the BSP. Now, I've built platforms before, so I originally just ignored this, added the "Mainstone.cec" in the platform directory to my catalog manually, and attempted to build a platform using plain-old Platform Builder 4.2. I quickly started running into different errors that looked like there were some system headers missing. I couldn't find them anywhere on my PC. So, I fell back to their build instructions, and it quickly starts referencing a "bldplat.bat" that wasn't even included with the BSP. My current course of action is to continue trying to build the platform through Platform Builder in the usual way by removing components from my configuration that run into problems. However, this already isn't working too well because the first thing that I had problems with was the audio driver, and I need that more than I need the display. If anyone could tell me what this "Software Adaptation Kit" is, or where I can get it (none of us here could find it on Microsoft's site), I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys. The problem is that the PS/2 keyboard driver will output the wrong scan code after do suspend/resume. After do some testing, I find that the wrong scan code is caused by the misjudgement of the ps/2 driver. The driver think that the keyboard is a AT-type keyboard, but actually I'm using a XT-type keyboard. The problem only happens after do suspend/resume.     - Expectation about a BSP and question about eboot Hi, I have a few problems I have been working on lately and would like some inputs on these matters. First what's to be expected when a board supplier provides you with a BSP. What I mean is if I choose to build a new platform based on that bsp and choose a standard setup, compile it. Should I expect it to boot without modifying anything ? So far I have had errors from ethernet drivers and PCI bus. Second, I have tried with every boot.bin found on my system to get the startup to connect to PB. And i always get either unsupported ethernet card or Self test failed message.     - auto starting Remote Display application Hi, everyone, I have a CE .NET device without any keyboard/mouse input. I can use the Remote Display Control to connect to this device. But I have problem starting the cerdisp program on the target since I will not have KITL in a ship product. I tried starting cerdisp at windows startup but it failed because cerdisp starts too early. Neither activesync or the CF ethernet connection has been initialized at that moment. How could I create a bootable wCE image?
What options should I set on my Platfom Builder?
What file should I download to my Development board?

I've tried donwload the nk.bin and nk.nb0 release version to address 0x0 of
my development board (Intel DBPXA250),
But it didn't work.
I've already used eboot.nb0 and it worked fine. But, now I would like to
deploy the final version wCE image.
