Hello,

I am really looking for some Windows CE networking help. We have a
customer who is trying to connect through a modem to a SMB server.
They can connect through the dial up just fine but when they try to
mount a SMB share they get the error 53 message.
The server can be pinged from the CE device
Questions:
1. How do you get the DNS and WINS populated?
2. What might be the issue when the error 53 is returned?
3. Is DHCP required to mount a SMB share?
4. How do I get the dial up to fill in the WINS, DNS, & DHCP settings?

All you help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!

Regards,

Gary

Hello Gary,
I too had faced a similar probleb, but noo soln yet.
See my earlier post here....
##########
Hello,
I have developed a Win CE kernel for ICOP Vortex86 board.
I have added all required components and rgistry settings for SMB as
instructed in the official documentation. However I am unable to view
the target's CF card contents i.e "\Hard Disk" from my host PC
(IWndows 200 SP4)
The "\Hard Disk" is visible on the target.

From host PC,
I am able to ping the target by its name: ie ping WinCE (works)
ping 192.168.0.123 (its IP
-works)

But when I type C:\>net use z: \\wince\hdd or
C:\>net use z: \\Wince\hdd
I get this error:
"
System error 67 has occured.

The network name cannot be found
"

Can you please guide me where I am wrong?

Best wishes,
Ranjith
