My image file is 13 mb so i wanted to use the rest of the flash for data. i have problem in mounting fat partion on the flash where binfs is already there. Do i need any registy settings to automount FAT partion.     - How to set cellular signal strength icon through an application.. Hi, I dont know whether this is a correct group for asking this question or not but i have not found any information for this question, so, I thought i should ask it here. I want to know whether wince 4.2 gives any functionality to update cellular signal strength icon through application or not. Actually i have my own phone application which replaces default phone (onboard phone application.) I am killing the default phone application. For first 200 seconds after killing the default phone application, it is working fine but after 200 seconds OS (as of now, I think OS does this..) tries to execute the default phone application if its not already there in the memory. But i have stopped it too. But what it does is, shows just an exclamation mark over the cellular phone signal strength icon. I want my application to take responsibility of updating this icon, so, any API through which I can tell OS to update this cellular signal strength icon ?     - Input Panel pops up After adding the AYGShell Extension the SIP pops up every time I select an edit box. Futhermore it also pops up If I deactivate the "Allow applications to change the input panel state" in the control panel applet "Input Panel Properties". I use Platform Builder 5.0 on x86.     - Bluetooth stack Hi, Isnt the bluetooth stack supplied with the WinCE installation, SIG qualified? As per the BT SIG site, the profiles qualified in WinCE 4.2 stack are GAP,SPP, DUN,FTP,LAN,OPP,GOEP etc. But the source in WinCE 4.2 installation has only profiles DUN,LAN,OPP,FTP.Same is the case with WinCE 5.0. The SIG lists the qualified profiles as including A2DP,AVRCP,AVDTP,AVCTP etc. But the installation source does not include all this.     - Help! Cannot share folder on Standard SDK 5.0 emulator! Hi all, We have an application created using evc++4.0 and were deploying it on the PPC 2003 or WCE 4.2 emulator with no problems. However, I installed the Standard SDK 5.0 for WinCE, but when I deploy the application on the WCE 5.0 emulator, the 'Folder Sharing' menu item is disabled. We need folder sharing to work as we have close to 2Gig of data that we need to access. I thought there might have been something wrong with my installation, but two of my co-workers installed it as well as our actual device will be a 5.0 device; however, they have the same problem. I would appreciate any assistance on this issue as it is eating up valuable development time. We have been looking online but have not yet found a solution. Also, I installed the WM 5.0 PPC and Smartphone SDKs but they do not show up in the eVC++ IDE to develop applications for. However, they certainly show up under VS2005 environment. I was under the impression, that using the evc++ SP4, we can develop WM 5.0 applications. Am I wrong here? or did something not go right with the installation??     - about USB on CE5.0 I have a trouble on USB. when I build an image on CE5.0, I find the USB can't work.I have added these features. 1. device drivers ->USB HOSU->UHCI 2.core OS->USB Host Support->USB HID Class Drive ->USB HID Keyboard and Mouse 3.core OS->USB Host Support->USB Storage Class Drive the USB mouse can't work.     - Hive registry not working with Release build Hi, I have PXA255 platform derived from Lubbock. Using V5.0. I have setup my hive registry to be on MMC card. Registry settings below. Everything works fine in a debug build, hives are mounted on the MMC card. With a release build at the point the hives are being mounted or around that time the system hangs. I changed to RAM registry with Release and that cured the problem. I have checked that the drivers for the SD card and the loader are included in the image.     - problem in debug version of devload/devfsd I'm trying to debug an issue of a PCMCIA driver that uses the IOCTL to have device callback the driver with a PostInit IOCTL call. In devload.c, once the device has been created, a string is created "$device\<device name>" $device\COM2 in my case. This gets passed to DevicePostInit and which then calls DEVFS_CreateFileW() which gets a debugcheck since the filename doesn't start with a \ I'm not sure what's happen in the retail, but the debug isn't happy...     - Having trouble connecting PB to CEPC over ethernet I posted this problem earlier but was unable to succeed. I was working on something else for a while and now I am back to tackle it again. This time I connect the CEPC directly to the development PC with a crossover cable. After booting CEPC, the hyperterminal shows (see below). If I don't enter a static IP address, I don't see the bootme. If I enter any IP address, I see the bootme being sent. What is a correct IP address to be entered here? However, I still don't get CEPC56953 on PB->Target->Connectivity Options->Download->Ethernet->Settings->Device Boot Name. Since the bootloader is sending out the "bootme" message, can I assume that the NIC is compatible? I have a 3Com NIC. I was trying to get a RTL8139 NIC but it is hard to find in local electronic stores (Fry's/Central Computer, etc.). What should I do? Could there be a problem with my PB installation? My development PC is XP-SP2. I have also disabled the firewall, but no success.     - setting IP to 224.0.0.1 In NetUI and ConnMC, there is a function CheckAddress which checks that an IP address a.b.c.d meets: a != 0, 127, 224-255 d != 255 These functions don't appear to be called by anything I can find. If I set the IP to 224.0.0.1 or a=224-255, the adapter disappears from the network control panel, and I have to erase the registry to get it back. Has anyone found this bug and worked out a fix to prevent a user from getting into this state of needing to reset the registry ?     - CE 5.0 on VMWare Hi All, we want to run a CE 5.0 image on VMWare for demonstration. Microsoft's CE emulator is not an option because the emulation must run on Linux. Our problem is that we did not find a retail device driver for the Am79C970 network card. We have a very old driver from AMD for CE 2.11 / 3.0, but it seems this driver does not run in our environment. Has anyone successfully run CE 5.0 on VMWare???     - Win CE memory pages I am looking into the workings of memory pages within the CE environment. I am currently doing my investigations on an iPAQ PDA, PPC2003, use PB4 and EVC4 (but I don't think this is a device specific issue). My question is, how come if I remove some memory pages with the GetKPhys() function then do a soft reset of the device, the pages are available again? Looking though physmem.c (in PB4) then it seems that the page links are zeroed and the pUseMap set to be used when this function is called. I would have thought that on a reboot (after the soft reset) the OS wouldn't be able to see these pages (until a hard reset happened). Could anyone please fill in my knowledge gap here please.     - problem with source filter registration hi, i have written a push source filter(directshow) for video format , which is working fine for desktop. I wrote that for "wince" using EVC++ , while building and attaching the dll to emulator evc++ is showing successfully registerd. after getting in to emulator if i try to register or unregister it , this error is getting displayed .     - WARNING: Marvell 88W8385 Based Wi-Fi Solutions on Windows CE Hey guys. I've been hesitating to post something like this, but I think I'm frustrated enough at this point to go ahead and do it. If anyone out there is considering using any Wi-Fi modules based on the Marvell 88W8385 chipset under Windows CE 5.0, I strongly recommend you reconsider. Or, at least put whatever you are considering through a very rigorous evaluation before making any design commitments. The company I'm doing work for had committed to a design that used this chipset on a CF interface Wi-Fi module. The assumption was that they would be able to use the NDIS mini-port driver provided by Marvell in their software platform just as they had done with many CF Wi-Fi solutions in the past. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Marvell has provided them with no direct support whatsoever. The module manufacturer they were working with has provided them with no support whatsoever. The sales organization that they were purchasing these modules through managed to provide them with two different drops of driver source code. Neither worked on their platform as-is. After approximately 6 weeks of software effort, they managed to achieve minimal Wi-Fi functionality under very controlled setups. This was not sufficient for their requirements. They are currently in quite a bit of a pickle. Is anyone out there successfully using this chipset? If so, who's drivers are you using? Are there any contacts for people willing to provide high-quality, production-grade software support for this chipset under Windows CE? For everyone else... If you're anything other than a Tier 1 customer to Marvell, be very careful. If any module providers are promising you drivers, make sure you can evaluate them before making any design decisions.     - Howto eject USB mass storage disk? I expose an USB mass storage partition from my custom Windows CE device. For instance, I can connect a USB cable between my device and a Windows XP computer, and it will appear as a hard drive in Windows XP. From Windows XP I can right click the drive "D:" from "My computer" and select "Eject", which will cause the filesystem to flush correctly on my device and have it unmounted from Windows XP. So eject works fine if initiated from Windows XP. But is there a way from my device to force this "Eject" to happen? I haven't found a way to initiate this, maybe I'm asking for a feature that doesn't exist in USB? Has anyone experience from this?     - Problem with suspend/resume on LAN91C111 Hello, I am trying to implement suspend / resume functionality for my LAN91C111 miniport driver on CE 5.0. I'm running into a problem that keeps it from functioning on power up. I've followed the directions in the SMSC documentation for this device for powering down and then powering up the device. I power up and down in response to OID_PNP_SET_POWER requests from NDIS. I believe I am powering down and powering up properly, but my network connection doesn't work after resume. Using netmon, I have verified that my NIC is sending packets out over the network after resume. For example, when I ping my desktop from my CE device, I can see the packets in netmon. Also, when I ping the device from my desktop, I receive the packets on my device (verified by using netstat.exe). I can also see my driver responding to RX interrupts. It seems to me then that my hardware is set up properly on resume, but somehow the protocol driver is messed up. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?     - Virtual target that's not the emulator I run my WinCE development system on a virtual machine, which makes it impossible to use the emulator platform for testing. So I created another virtual machine, meant to replace the emulator - it brings up eboot and away we go - almost. The virtual machine presents the NIC as an AMD PCNet.     - USB data Transfer question I wrote a USB to Serial driver on CE ARM device. and the write function which write data from USB host to client works fine, but when tried to read data from client, just occasionally get the serial data, most likely, host only read partial data. USB analizer tells that Writing from USB host to Client works fine, but always error when I tried to read data from Client, no matter I got data complete or not. eg. if I write "Hello" in Client, I can read "Hello" in the beginning some times, then I'll get "HHH......" or "lllll....." or "oooo..." randomly.     - 5.0 CEPC Image Problem Hi, I've got a problem I haven't been able to figure out. The problem occurs when trying to boot the image from CF. The CF is connected to an IDE port. Here are the steps I used: 1. Built a debug image 2. Downloaded to CEPC via ethernet - Runs fine. CF fully functional via ATAPI driver. 3. Built a release image 4. Download to CEPC via ethernet - Runs fine. CF fully functional via ATAPI driver. 5. Boot system from CF using LoadCEPC.exe. System loads but doesn't start. I've tried this with and without the hive-based registry and the result is the same. PB is current with all QFEs. I'd welcome any suggestions for things to try. I have developed one virtual channel dll . It exports
VirtualChannelEntry function. I am using windows ce 5.0 on EXILIS
device. My problem is that I want this dll to get loaded in cetsc.exe
but it loads in gwes.exe. What could be the probable reason. I tested
it on Winterm client and found thatit loads properly in cetsc.exe
