Hi All,

we want to run a CE 5.0 image on VMWare for demonstration. Microsoft's CE
emulator is not an option because the emulation must run on Linux. Our problem
is that we did not find a retail device driver for the Am79C970 network card. We
have a very old driver from AMD for CE 2.11 / 3.0, but it seems this driver does
not run in our environment. Has anyone successfully run CE 5.0 on VMWare???

Thanks in advance

mfr

Hi, couldn't you take a station with Windows CE (a cheap e-box for
sample) and put the Remote Display Debug Application or VNC Server on
it?

Hi Marcelo,

I can't do that. We want to put a demonstration environment on a bootable CD
using Linux. The CE Image is only a part of the environment. If CE does not run
in VMWare we will do it without CE. It is no _so_ important to have this
feature, but it would be nice.

Thanks - mfr

AS VMWare is a competitor to Microsoft's Virtual PC there is no support for
that out of the box. You'd need to build a BSP to support that system. (Not
an easy task!)

Hi Steve,

CE runs good enough with the CEPC BSP. The only thing we are missing is a retail
Network driver for the Am79C970 network card. We haven't the time to build one
ourself now, so we dropped the project. Maybe we do it some time later...
