Hi,
I'm doing a fresh install of VS2005/PB 6.0 and have noticed that there is a
discrepancy in the installation instructions. I'm about to install the CE
6.0 Platform Builder Service Pack 1 from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bf0dc0e3-8575-4860-a8e3-290adf242678&displaylang=en
and noticed the note under Additional Information:
NOTE: Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Cumulative Product Update Rollup Package
(through 12/31/2006) should be installed prior to installing Windows Embedded
CE 6.0 Platform Builder Service Pack 1.
However, that package is no longer available for download as indicated in
the 12/31/2007 rollup notes:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=247033B2-F475-445A-9CD0-D80CDAE0FA75&displaylang=en
Which says:
Update packages released prior to R2 Product Rollup 2007 will not be
available for download starting 03/15/2008.
This is the second computer I'm installing, and just happened to notice
this. My first computer's install has a strange issue where I can't do 2
sysgens in a row without rebooting, so I'm wondering if I made a mistake when
I installed that one. I guess it would be helpful if someone who's installed
CE 6.0 R2 several times would give a suggested order to install all of the
updates when installing after 03/15/2008. Is this the proper install order?
->
1. Visual Studio 2005
2. Visual Studio 2005 SP1
3. Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Update for Vista (if applicable)
4. Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder
5. Windows Embedded CE 6.0 SP1 (required if PB 6.0 Tools have been installed)
6. Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2
7. Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Cumulative Product Update Rollup 12/31/2007
Or else, can someone send me the 12/31/2006 update package, or do I even
need it?
Thanks,
Marco
